Hi all,
after some researching I still have a few questions:
My Samsung Galaxy S (by *#1234#)
PHONE: I9000XXJPP
Build Info: 2010.10
I know the XX or XW stands for an European version, but i can't find information of the JPP. Others are like JPX JP3 JPU ....
I am on Android 2.2 (not 2.2.1 dunno the difference). I still have black screen lag and phone seems a bit slow. I come from 2.1 and phones seems slower now.
thx

Hi,
I am glad I found this site, excellent source of information.
I have a question regarding updating firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
My phone currently has firmware I9000XXJF3, looking over at samsung-firmware it seems that the latest version available is I9000XWJM2
My question is, will my phone be compatible with this firmware version? should I not go beyond the I9000XX releases? Languages don't mean much to me personally because I only use English (hopefully XW has it!)
If I do install I9000XWJM2 will the other 'tutorials' work for me as well? (the lag fix, etc)
Your help is appricated!
those XX doesn't mean anything related to the specificity of the model (i9000). In other words, yes, you can flash the new firmware without problems. In general you should make sure it's for i9000, but not in the name of the firmware, cause it's rather confusing. You should look for a thread of this firm and check it's for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733368
Yes, tutorials still works!
If i want to install firmware , and i see alot of version.
what that mean ?
how know what its good for my i9000
thanks
I guess they're just internal samsung firmware nomenclature... Don't really know if they have a meaning...
They do have meanings.
In brief: F came out, then G came out, then H is newer, then M is newest for 2.1. The 'P' series are all 2.2 Froyo.
A lot of people on XDA have found the JM ones (newest 2.1) to be the best firmwares to run. The newest M ones are JM7 / JM8 if I'm not mistaken
The 2 letters right before the JH2 are for region. E.g. in UGJH2 the UG is N.America I believe.
I didn't know that... Thanks for the info!
I bought i9000 from one gay and on it is 2.2 froyo, i9000xxjph, and KIES not lets me to upgrade, and it it shove:
''Model Name: GT-I9000
Curent Version: PDA:JPH/PHONE:JPH/ CSC:JPH
This device's version cannot be updated.''
,and the phone is bin bought in Ireland, Vodafone.
I'm lucking for latest PDA:
PHONE:
CSC:
files, what should be on it at this data.
Please Help me, and will donate to helpers.
Thanks, and sorry about my English
You have a leaked testfirmware installed: JPH... there is only one newer testfirmware: JPK, but there are no bis differencies to you JPH so you dont need to update. Android 2.2 (Froyo) is officialy not released by samsung, we are all wating. So it is all okay for you. Wait until samsung releases froyo officially and you can update. Your original firmware depends on the provider from which the phone may be bought in ireland.
... But please use the right sections to post here.. This is android development. We have a section especially for questions and answers.

I know that froyo is is not out yet, bet what's is the latest at the moment for Ireland Vodafone???
The last inofficial ist i9000JPK. Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790686
Ok, but I'm looking for official latest, not froyo.

if you are the europe model i9000
then it's either JM1 or JM2 some people claim JM1 is better, but newest is JM2
if you have the i9000m canadian model
then latest is JH2
Today's lesson: Don't buy phones from gay people.
Ok, I'm will use I9000XWJM2 rom, but what about phone and csc files???
same for all 3
if you got to samsfirware site they will have all 3 zipped in 1 package
1st of all i am new galaxy user. so i am giving you details about my phone
when i tried to update, it said it has already latest version which is
pda jm5 phone jm1 csc jm3 . and it has orange logo on back. i saw on net that uk orange users are getting froyo but still i do not have. now about phone details,
model number gt-i9000
firmware version 2.1 update1
baseband version i9000vbjm1

[email protected] #2

I am the new user of SGS..
I have phone with Eclair 2.1 and baseband I9000DDJG4..
I want to upgrade it to Froyo 2.2, how can I upgrade it?
Please help me.
I'm little messed up with what this baseband means?
Hi Rahul,
Still samsung have not yet released the Froyo update to indian galaxy S, by next week you can update using Kies. Baseband is nothing to do with fryo update.
You can use Registr Hack to update to froyo 2.2, if you are going to update it go for JPA, its fast and smooth.
1) Change the following registry keys
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU" <--- There you have to put your Product Code. I used for example European Countries Code
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\]
"LocalVer"="1.5.3.10103.100"
This is very good one### its fast one
Nordic Countries: GT-I9000HKDXEE --> PDA:JPA / PHONE:JPP / CSC: JP4
Only editing these registry will allow me to upgrade the firmware? Will it cause any problem?
What are registry edits for JPA firmware? Can I use the same you've given above?
