Hi guys, I recently updated to 2.2.1 through Kies with Kies registry patcher which worked perfectly. The thing is, after the update the phone seemed a little sluggish at moments and mobile internet didn't work, so I decided to do a factory reset. What I'm wondering is, is the factory reset the ultimate reset and actually resets the phone to a complete fresh state?
Also, can I format the internal SD card because I think that when I bought the phone there were already some files/folders on it? Is it ok to format it? Should I do it before factory reset or after?
Greatly appreciate all the help.

Hello all,
I've upgraded to Android 2.2 today (Orange ROM - I9000JHJP3), everything was smooth, the phone ran faster and I was happy...
While trying to take a picture of my friend I recieved an error "Camera Failed" and the application force closed itself...
Since than I tried many things (soft reset, hard reset, taking out the battery, even wipe data/factory restore)...
Anyone has any idea what could cause it and how can I fix it ?
If I won't be able to fix it I rather going back to Enclair 2.1, but to be honest, I have no idea how, the backup I took was erased and now I'm running 2.2 as base.
Please help
I tried to upgrade to the new 2.2 froyo and all it gave me was the JM2, I had JM1 so I did it. Then the phone started to turn itself on and off again, so I did a factory reset from the recovery menu. Now nothing works and everything pops up with force close. I can't do anything but get back to the 3br. Please, I'm sure I'm getting freaked out for no reason but it's 4am here and I've been working on it for hours trying and looking for something.
did u have a lagfix installed on your phone before u started flashing to 2.1.1 ?
Very similar issue here - used regedit hack to get 2.2 - all I got was the JM2, phone was working fine, but I did factory reset hoping to clear all the old data, after this all I get is "Sorry!, The application TwLauncher (process com.sec.android.app/twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I did have lag fix, but unnistaled it before upgrading to 2.2
How this could be solved ?
install via odin. Kies is a P.O.S
Got the same problem.
Installed Froyo using Kies and the registry hack. After rebooting I checked my Android Version: 2.1 Update 1. So I followed the instructions to do a factory reset. Now all I can do is boot the phone and type in my pin-code. Then there are lots and lots of popups telling me a process has stopped working ...
Can anyone help? Is odin really the only way to regain access to my phone?
Factory reset, clean cash, wipe internal sd-card
I already wiped the cache and also did a factory reset twice. When entering recovery mode I receive the error: "multisc: can not acces to /system/csc/DBT/system/"
How to wipe the internal sd card then?
I have the same problem! Have a brand new Vodafone handset (no lag fix etc.), ran the regedit patch and whilst I didn't get 2.2, I stayed on 2.1 update1 but unbranded. Was delighted to get rid of bloatware but after a factory reset, the same problem!
Using my registry settings, I flashed back to Vodafone firmware but the problem still remains
OK wiped and then even formatted the internal sd-card - did this from windows explorer whilst connected via usb.
I then did a wipe/factory reset, wiped the cache and then reboot.
Still the same problem!
I eventually got it to work
I flashed via Odin, the JPK firmware and that was stable enough to get some sleep. In the morning, I flashed JPM and then rooted and lag fixed. I took the lag fix and even the root off of it before trying to upgrade on Kies so I have no idea how that happened. I'm thinking that flashing with the new ROM is the only way to get it un-bricked after that but it's good anyway because now it has FroYo with root and lag fix even though I was originally trying to keep updates to official channels so to speak (guess I found out just how unsafe the official way is vs. the unofficial way).
Me too! Thanks for the advice, I ended up doing the same!
Only difference is I updated to JPM firmware as shown on this forum - works perfectly Likewise I would have preferred not to have to do the unofficial way - guess my warrranty is now void?
Out of interest, I found it hard to figure the difference between JPK and JPM but I seemed to conclude that JPM is a slightly more recent and technically the 'final' of Froyo?
Flashed via Odin and it started to work, finnaly.
Good question regarding formware versions - it is interesting for me also !
Hello,
I have a SGS I9000 Gt from France I think.
Everything was running good. I installed a bunch of apps when I first got the phone, checking stuff out. After playing with it for a few months I now have a good idea of what apps I would like to keep.
I decided to do a factory reset so I could start fresh when froyo does come out.
I performed three button recovery and did factory reset and wipe cache partition.
Problem is when I reboot I constantly receive "The process "blank" has stopped unexpectedly. please try agian." message, and I hit force close and it just pops right back up. TwLauncher, Daily briefing, acore, and a google one.
I did notice that in the recovery mode menu I get some red text saying "multicsc : can not acces to /system/csc/XEF/system/" But when I go through the steps to reset and clear cache, it does it and gives me a message "wipe complete"
I removed battery and sim card No sd, and tried again with no luck, every time I boot now same thing, apps keep crashing.
I hope that makes sense I don't really know what to do.
So yea any help would be great!
Thank you so much for your time.
I almost have the same problem here.
I updated the firmware with Kies, using the default firware that was found by Kies.
I guess it has to be a custom made ROM made by/for my phone service provider (Bouygues, a French company).
Upon restarting, I get the same pop-up messages. Cannot close them fast enough to use anything. My phone is not usable, though not bricked.
Ps : formerly running off-the-factory custom Bouygues rom. Rooted and using OCLF or something lag fix.
I solved at least MY problem :
Do a factory reset and wipe cache AND user data. Simple as that
The answer was actually in the [Warning!!!] Do not flash... thread. I should slap myself for not looking into it first.
Hope it solves your problem too.
Thanks for the help, but how do you how did you wipe user data? Maybe I am blind but I don't see it?
I think I did that when I did the factory reset. When I do boot up however, my original unlock pattern is still set...so I don't know wtf is going on.
FIXED!!
I used Kies Registry Patcher v.1.6.0.0
then reset user data and cache WORKS GREAT AND I HAVE FROYO NOW!!
I have a problem with my new Samsung SGS gt-i9000.
i purchased it today and started to install markets applications.. (new to android world ). after a couple of downloads samsung apps asked to update. then i rebooted device but some appplication (google maps, gmail) begin to hang.
phone was new i decided for hard reset because it was almost empty
and now the problem.. i tried different types of hard reset (Volume+home+power and then wipe, with code *numbers that i don't remember# and from privacy-restore to factory settings but everytime i boot my Phone accounts and apps are still there and of course Samsung apps won't run.
where is the solution? any way to perform a REAL hard reset? thanks
Andrea
trie to format sd and then do a factory reset. your problem is strange, coz it should erase everything with factory reset except your sd (internal an external).
trie to flash one of the custom ROM's.
sorry for my english.
Odin to stock
Sent from my I897 using XDA App
i tried several kinds of format but apps are always there.. seems strange to me too!
thanks for answers.. the problem is that phone is buyed yesterday.. flashing a custom ROM void warranty so i think is better to sent it back..
but what about ODIN to stock? this flash void warranty?
u shold find stock rom for your country.(i mean csc and that) find it on google.
otherwise take it back to service, and make their life miserable..
it's realy f...... that u have problems with 1 day old phone.
OK.. found a stock rom, same version, same everything.. flashed succesfully with odin BUT when android booted SURPRISE!
same applications, same wallpaper, same problems, same everything WTF!!!
i'm at the end of the rope..... this afternoon i take it back to service
Connect to PC via USB( first in you phone USB debugging),than format your device on PC
I have the same problem. Tried odin with all possible options, bricked/recovered a few times in the process. Now, on stock firmware 2.3.3. I still can't hard-reset the phone. The files on my internal SD card, google account etc. keep reappearing after each reset. I believe this is some 'real' problem with the internal storage of the card.
Did you take the phone to service center? What did they say?
Dear, all
first of all, sorry for my bad english...
I have my galaxy s3 mini for a few months (i bought it on august 2013), a week ago my HH had a notification that a new ugrade available. So i tap OK, and the phone downloaded the upgrade (195 MB, if i remember correctly). When the phone succesfully updated, i check the system. I noticed that the baseband version was upgraded from i8190DXAMA2 to i8190DXAMJ1. A few days later, my phone started acting wierd. All the system apps start to crash a lot. One day the messaging dan contact app not responding, and i had to force close and reboot the phone. The other day was clock app crashing, and i had to reboot the phone.
Does anyone have same problem like me? How can i fix this? I tried to clear app data, but that didn't work. Reboot is the only way to fix this problem. And i don't want to reboot the phone every day or two. If i want to downgrade my baseband version to original, how can i do that?
and oh, my phone is not rooted. Still using stock ROM.
thanks
I'm guessing you didn't do a factory data reset after update?
Reinstall firmware using kies, after it's done, turn on the phone, do a factory reset and then setup it as you would with new phone.
Optionaly you can make a backup with KIES before the upper ster, and after doing a factory reset, restore the backup. Or just copy/paste stuff you need (music, picture, etc)
