Why is it that live wallpapers from the market slow down the Aria? Idk if it does that for all ROMs, but it does slow down the Liberated Aria 2.2 ROM. The live wallpapers that are in the ROM don't slow anything down. Is this something that affects the ROM?
Sent from my HTC Liberty
well i think all of them slow me down but if it irritates you, make sure you are on the latest FR rom and crank the cpu up. Dont go over 806(i think). Use setcpu(market or xda search)
It's because the aria has a lower mhz processor.

I am sorry if this is in the incorrect place or if this has already been asked, but I could not find it in the search. What is your favorite Eris ROM and why?
I am currently using Sense-able 3.1 and like it except for it missing LWP and Overclock.
thank you for your time and I look forward to the responses. Love this forum and I am happy to be able to finally post something.
I personally really like Tainted Vanilla 1.3.1. Though it has some bugs to work out, I find it to be an excellent rom. But seeing as I am new to the Droid Eris Rom scene I haven't really tried out many except Evil Eris, VanillaDroid and Tainted Vanilla.
I'm using sense-able 3.1 with oc loving it actually. Supposed to be updated soon for a2sd also.

i use Tainted Vanilla 1.3.1 because for the most part it is the fastest one i have used. its plain in a way but its nice because it doesnt have all the other crap that slows stuff down.
EE i didnt give a good chance with but hear good things...
i used sensable3 for some time and i love the way it looks but even overclocked it was slow as sin and couldnt repeat my numbers well.
lightning rom was alright but i didnt like it much.
so basically this is all off first impressions... i would sugest you try them all out and see which one hooks you in.
Did you have the new overclocking patch on senseable? Runs fast and stable on my phone, have it set at 768.

I am running 3.1 right now, and I installed it without going through an update from 3.0. Do I need to flash a patch or do I need to get an app from the market? Sorry for not knowing what I am talking about...
In the development section zanfur has a post titled overclocking patch and update, its a update that can be applied to the Rom following his directions. I actually got mine over 800 before it locked and rebooted just make sure and follow the directions in the post. I'm currently getting 3.2 to 3.5 mflops consistently with it.

Their is a variety of rom choices because each person's taste is different. This is my take after running them.
EE- Very fast and is made by an awesome dev. He worked very hard to make sure that it runs well and for the most part it has run well. OC enabled
Aloysius- Simple Stable and works very well. It has sense and is OC'ed. It is what I use and so far have stuck with it, then again it is my rom
Tainted Vannilla- I tried this last night and it is very fast, but also very plain. Not my taste as I am a fan of HTC sense.
Sensable- Awesome and almost bug free from my experience with it and would recommend it to almost anyone.
Ivan's- Simplest and most bug free rom we have available to us. I ran it for a while, and also used it as a base for my rom until the newest leak arrived. Simply stated it is a great almost stock rom.
This is just from my experience, but my experience also tells me to try them all and see which one hits you the best.

yeah i had the patch... the rom it self was pretty good and i got 2.9 mflops at points but it wasnt consistant... i want to try it again though...
lightning bolt with jit and oc at 768 i am getting 5.1 fairly consistant but it plain and i am having a problem going back to my home screens.
but internet and other functions on the phone blows sensable out of the water.
I am using my own lil creation
Aloysius v6 Maps + latest OC kernel (OC'd @ 806) + removed time from toolbar + circle battery = 3.2-3.3MFLOPS
I have tried every ROM that has come out and Aloysius series seems to be the best. I am staying with v6 since it does everything I need it to and my update files wont work on any other version without giving me problems. I may switch this weekend to something else, just dont know what yet.
until today, i was on evil eris 2.0.1 - very good rom!
as of now...i'm using zenEXP - my new everyday rom!

Was using EE 2.0.1 getting 3.1~ MFLOPS oc'd to 768, but I gave up sense for JIT and im now using tainted vanilla getting 5.2~ MFLOPS oc'd to the same.
Really like the improvement + live Nexus wallpaper that doesn't break.
Switched to Aloysius v11 MAPS. Added the latest oc kernal so I can get to 806 and love it more than v6. Spencer did a great job of porting this ROM. I give all devs credit for making us ROMs but this one seems to be my fav.

I agree! I was running Ivan's until a couple of days ago. Glad I made the switch. EE is much faster.
I've been running Framework43's Senseless 1.0 Pure Vanilla since last night and it's fantastic! I put the JIT update on there and have no problems and getting 3.2-3.5 MFLOPS consistantly and it's not even OCed (yet). Also, in the ROM's thread, there is a link on how to get A2SD to work and it works perfectly. Very fast and stable. It's the initial release and practically bugless already.
Hey guys, I'm running stock htc sense right now without root. I've done my homework on rooting and am looking to install a stock android rom onto my hero. I would like to get pikiprs wii controller app to work on my phone but it does not work with sense. What is a good rom without sense and with overclock?
Also, what is a good rom without overclock? What are the chances that I fry my processor using overclock?

Darchdroid is pretty good, and quite fast.
Try alysius pure hero 2.1 maps/overclocked. Make sure to also do apps2sd its awesome. Good luck

Chances of frying the processor are slim. It's been thoroughly tested on our phones and others with the same chip.

Does this rom have live wall papers? I can't seem to find one that has maps, lwp, and overclock.

Doesn't exist. You either get maps with overclock....or lwp with overclock. That's just how it is unfortunately....but honestly lwp are just dumb imo haha. Our phones can 'barely' get it to work and only with the most basic ones.
Supposebly the ROM says it does not but LWP does work I tested it myself. It is the fastest most stable rom that I have tried and believe me it took me a week to decide into this one so much talent pool in these forums. It depends what you want for phone for and what you want to do with it. Pure hero works with TV/NFL and all the apps i've been installing. As I mentioned make sure you do apps2sd as well so you can take full advantage of the phone performance.
I am also running PureHero 2.1 and love it.
has anyone been able to overclock the CPU for the galaxy S past 1GHz??? Im sold when i found out that touchwiz can be replaced w/ ADW Launcher so i plan on gettin this phone next month.
wouldnt recomment it.. when we tried even just setting the cpu mode to on demand instead of conservative.. which doesnt even up the cpu.. search for the thread about it on here.
Don´t think is such a problem if long as you don´t heat it up.
Its easy to overclock this phone, I'm running 1.2 ghz right now with a custom rom, its a great phone and if you want to game its unbeatable in performance compared to other smart phones.

Why resurrect a question that was asked nearly 10 months ago and due to advances is not really even relevant anymore?

I have run my phone using the CM7 and Miui roms at 1.3 ghz using the bilboa or zacharius kernels and xans voltage control app (which also allows you to undervolt) with absolutely no problems. Admittedly the phone will get hot if try and play dungeon defenders whilst you are charging so don't!

always sad cause emus ran like crap on my hero but i'm pretty excited to test them out with OC.
as for OP do you run a mem management app like Auto Memory Management?
I do use an auto memory manager and I am currently using the newest CM6 rom by darch. I am OCed to 710mhz and I cannot find a way to get homerun battle 3d to run well. It never ran well with my stock alltel rom and it runs nearly as bad now with my CM6 2.2 OCed rom. Any ideas? I don't use a live wallpaper or anything
All games run perfect fine on mine.... OC to 768 on CM6T4
Do you use setcpu with cm6 or oc widget or do you just let the rom handle it?

Sorry If this seems like a Newb type of question.. But is 26.3 fps a good benchmark score?
I'm Running...
android version 2.2
baseband version 2.42.01.04.27
kernel version 2.6.29.6-cyanogenmodameer darchstar #9
mod version cyanogenmod-6.0.0-heroc-rc1
build number frf91
Is there a way to utilize my hero better?
If I understand it correctly, a lot of these "tests" are subjective and not really an exact measuring stick. I've seen as high as 32.2fps on my hero running PapaSmurf's Blue ROM. I have seen as low as 13fps on an unrooted 2.1 sprint stock ROM. So 26 is very good.
However I consistently get higher MFLOPS with CM6 and Froyo. But it isn't as simple as just saying "I have more MFLOPS so my phone is faster than yours".
Thanks for the info! What are mflops? Also are there any tips to speed up the phone?
I just used linpack and out said my mflops was 2.221?

MFLOPs are "Mega-FLoating Point Operations Per Second" - basically a measure of processing speed.
This is what I got the second time

Enable JIT, it will more than double. (this does not always translate to a "faster" phone)

You can install as many app as your hero can hold and still not slow your phone down. But if your installing apps that update in the background that is set for short intervals, than yes it will slow down your phone. Just be sure the apps you download that update in background can be set to longer update intervals. For example, if your using a gmail widget that updates your e-mail every 15-30 min, slows it down. Hope this helps you.

The only Widgets I'm running on my phone are google search, SetCPU, Sense Analog Small Clock. I also set up the phone so that I only have 3 screens instead of 5, 6, 7. I'm not too sure if that will make it faster.. I'm just more of a minimalist.
