[Q] Market & .apk's - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I download an app using official Android Market, and install them, is there a folder where the market stores the installation files, apk's? If not, can this be done? Thanks.

installing apps?

so I rooted my buddies phone and I don't want to sign in using my info he had a bunch of apps and I need to reinstall them without going to the market is there an apk installer I can get somewhere?
do you have all his apks avaible, or it all need to be redownloaded? if you have them all already, you can just install with any file manager. but if you need to redownload, try using slideme, it's an alternative market and they have an app as well you can download from their site. http://slideme.org/
Please don't make multiple threads for the same issue...

pay apps market

i don't display paied apps in the market...
rom ERE27 2.1u1
Try using something like Market Enabler.
where can i get it?

Download the apk, and copy it to your sdcard. Install it using something like ASTRO, but you will have to set up the option to allow unknown sources (settings/Applications).
BTW, you will need your device rooted for this to work.

[Q] How to retrieve market APK files?

Back in Eclair, all market apps are stored in their original apk files in system/app, so it's relatively easy to retrieve those apk files.
However, after upgrading to Froyo, the apps are stored in a different format, and in various different locations.
I am not trying to distribute apk files illegally, but if I want to theme an application, I will need to get a copy of the original apk file. (Like the transparent theme for LaunchPro widgets). (Metamorph doesn't work for market apps).
So my question is, how can this be done on a froyo platform?
Download android mate, find the app you want, then long press on app and press details.
It will tell you all the info about it including its location
~Webstar1
That solves the mystery. Many thanks.

Installing APK with honeycomb?

Just got my xoom, got my old apks on my dropbox folder, how do i install a apk? The program I always used on FROYO is force closing
When I have an apk in my Dropbox I simply click on it and after it downloaded it asks me if I want to install. So I don't need any specific program.

[APK] Updating Google Market on the Huawei S7

I didn't see a thread here, but for my Huawei S7 running S7V100R001C62B113 Android 2.2.2, in order to update Android Market, these are the steps:
1) Download an updated Vending.apk from anywhere
2) Get ZipSigner2 from the market, and resign the apk into a new apk file with the 'platform key' option
3) Run the APK file with a file manager. It will ask you if you want to update the system application. After the install is complete, your market will be updated.
Google Play Store works with the Huawei S7.
v3.4.6 Google Play Store is as attached...

Thanks for this update. I'm in query if this will work with eclair as well as froyo. Please advise me for the suitable version update.
