Easiest way is by flashing a kernel that already supports CWM with Odin a.k.a. something along the lines of the speedmod kernel.
I take it CWM is the reason you want 2e in the first place tho.

Hi guys,
I want to flash latest stock rom available in my country but chainfire didn't release the relative kernel to make it rooted.
Can I root it flashing Notecore kernel instead of chainfire's?
Thanks a lot

Download PC ODIN and the desired stock firmware from dr.ketan's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
The thread explains how to flash a stock firmware using PC ODIN.
Do not forget to thank dr.ketan after you have accomplished your task.
Thanks mate but I know how to flash a stock rom by Odin. I just want to know how can I root it without chainfire's kernel

After successfully flashing the stock Ice Cream Sandwich firmware of your choice, flash a safe custom Ice Cream Sandwich kernel such as SpeedMod K3-9 or K3-11 and flash it via PC ODIN. After this, you should be rooted and have CWM and Superuser installed on your device.
After your device reboots, a yellow triangle may appear, but do not worry! Download the app Triangle Away from the Google Play Store and it will help you get rid of that dreaded image!
Refer to the kernel development thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072
I hope this helps.

1.Yes, Flash it via odin.Put it in PDA part of odin.
2.Yes, you can flash overcome kernel.
3.CF root kernel from here can give you root access with CWM manager.

Your suggestion of CF-root really helped as Overcome Kernel links are broken.
I am happy with CF-root.
Thanks once again.
Hi,
I need help rooting my Samsung Captivate running Gingerbread 2.3.3 I896UXKH2
I did before, but then I went overseas, and I need to unlock the phone. For me to unlock it, I need to put it back on stock, and I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133 method and it works.
Now I tried to root it again using SuperOneClick 2.3.3, but it doesn't seems to be working.
Any ideas?
Thank you

You could flash corn kernel with Odin 1.85 for both root and cwm
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
Hey martin.y,
If u r just wanting to flash a Developer's Rom in the end...then just use TRussello's guide in the Q & A Forum. It is a stickied thread. Or simply do as BWolf56 stated above---Flash the KK4 Corn Kernel (.tar file version) through Odin3 v1.85 or similar (the kernel.tar goes in the PDA slot). Of course u should know that u r flashing that kernel from Download mode. Takes less than a couple minutes for the whole process. Reboot into the CWM Recovery that is included in the Corn Kernel and select to install ur Rom of choice that u should already have copied onto ur phone's internal sdcard. And prest-o change-o ! New Rom.
Or as BWolf56 stated above also, u can simply get Root through the CWM advanced menu options of the Corn Kernel. :good:
