First of all thank you for reading this.
I've flashed Darky's ROM v6.0, it was working great. Then flashed this theme, it was still great, moreover even better.
Then I had the idea, what if I make the transparent background of the dialer a little bit darker so I extracted the DialerTabActivity.apk from Darky's ROM, changed the corresponding PNG, saved the new apk with TotalCommander and replaced the original DialerTabActivity.apk in the phone with RootExplorer. It was all right, it was working fine after reboot as well.
Then I had a greater idea, at least it seemed to be a great idea at that time What if I replace the gradient status bar background with a plain black background... I've done everything the same way with the framework-res.apk, yet after restart basically everything force closed. Tried to reflash the theme but it didn't help.
I was wondering what have I done wrong.
1) Why did it work with the dialer the first time and what went wrong with the framework-res.apk?
2) What is the correct way to do these modifications?
Thank you for all your help.
The method was fine. Both modified apks work after ROM reinstall.
Mods attached below.

Hey,
I made this simple little theme for private use - but I just decided to share it
It only changes the appearance of the bottom bar of the Rosie homescreen...
And I also made a clock theme that matches it.
I use it with the [email protected] ROM but it should work with all ROMs based on the Hero 2.1 build.
You need MetaMorph installed to apply the theme.
Have fun

Hey,
the buttons look very nice.
I know, that it is not so simple to make buttons like this.
Good work. Keep up and share your themes. I like it!
I updated this theme a bit - it now has a black transparent bottom bar
can I be nosy and ask what the thing at the bottom left of your homescreen is? Just part of the background or an app?
The glossy bottom bar is very sexy! Please keep at it !
Great Work

It's pretty easy please do a Nandroid backup before...
- just install Metamorph and AndExplorer from the Market
- then copy one of the zip files attached to this thread to your SD card
- start the MetaMorph application on your device
- select the zip file (choose AndExplorer if it asks you which app it should use)
- apply the theme
You can also find more information about MetaMorph here : http://code.google.com/p/android-metamorph/wiki/MetaMorph
can you please make it usable on 1.5 ROMs please?
Now that we have Clockworkmod Recovery, we can flash various .zips, The purpose of this thread is to post any zip you have flashed. Please make sure it was TESTED and also include the build you used it with.
TESTED AND WORKING.

i don't have balls to try it, because my gingerbread is working awesome and looks georgeous. but the circle mod status bar will fit perfect in my theme... who ever will test it, will get a "thanks" (if it is enough).
by the way: very useful thread!!!
just read this:

have you managed it and how? do you have any errors after that? thx in advance.
i'm one step closer now: i tried to extract the framework-res.apk by adb, (re)place the old battery icons by the new ones with winrar (as a lot of tutorials say on google), gave the framework-res.apk the permission 644 and adb it back to phone. i don't get errors, but the icon is stuck 80%... just when i plugin usb, it changes to charging icon (but this is stuck, too - no animation!)
can anybody try this please? i would like to know if it's related to my build (mdj gingerbread 2.2) or if i made some mistakes?! editing stat_sys_battery.xml should not be necessary, since i just replaced a few icons, right? thx in advance for suggestions.

As requested by arcane spade, here is a mod for BO 2.0 (or 2.0.1) to replace the battery icons with the icons from BO 1.1. As always, all credit goes to MT for his awesome rom... I just did some decompiling, copy and pasting, and apk building =)
To Install:
1. Download the appropriate zip file
2. Boot into Recover
3. Install Zip from sd card
4. Reboot
The mod can be downloaded here:
BO 1.1 Battery Mod
If you don't like the battery mod, download this zip to revert back to the BO 2.0 battery icons (Follow instructions above to install):
BO 2.0 Battery Restore
As long as you are running stock BO 2.0, this mod will not affect anything on your device other than the battery icons. This mod will also not interfere with my Right Align Clock Mod. Enjoy!
If you have a problem with the new battery icon being squished, reboot your phone. If that does not work, reinstall the Mod. I'm not sure why it happened to me once, but it fixed itself.

Thanks! Worked like a charm for me. Question: your shortcuts and launcher bar look very different, is that a theme you flashed?
I use adw launcher instead of experia and just use custom shortcuts to change the icons. I found a black icon pack online called Manhattan black or something like that. Then I added a white tint to the dockbar in adw settings.

Much thanks. It also changed the notification icons, loading icon, and the lock screen sliders witch I missed after theming, so it's like a win win win win for me
Awesome, I'm glad it worked well for you

Conventional 9.pngs stretch the image so you can't have a full pattern in them, the screwy bits are those being stretched. From reading this thread (last few pages)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18790818
It seems sense uses repeater pngs you may find an answer or the help you need there.

Hi, I've been having these issues for a long time. The only way to fix this is to take the PNGs that are stretched from an unmodified apk, and then make changes to the apk. After that, open your modified (and signed) apk as a ZIP and replace the PNGs you took out. Right now, this is the only way to fix this, since apktool optimizes these PNGs every time you use it.
Also, sometimes the .9.pngs are renamed to r.9.png, and lead to FCs. If this happens, rename them to .9.png, and it should be fixed
Thanks, now I will try. My only problem now is resize header and notification font sizes.
EDIT I copied default deodexed stock drawable-mdpi files but still desame
EDIT 2: removed r9, will see. results, still desame
EDIT 3: copied stock r9, results still systemUI FC
EDIT 4: renamed stock r9 to 9pngs success.
shrome99 thanks for pointing the exact answers.
Now to resize header image the one with provider text and notification fonts size, anybody pls.
This is for the Edge folks that are rooted and on OE2 and would like the option of running the 3minit battery Mod. Some of these will have colored status-toggle icons and matching centered clocks. I'm starting with blue and will add more as I get time and if anyone is interested in these.
If you are running a theme from the theme store but want these toggles to show up, in your root explorer, go to your root drive, data/app, find your custom them (there will be several files for it) find the one that ends in "lock". Copy-move it to your SD card and reboot.
If you want all 30 toggles install this app, go to the bottom and "add all notification toggles". Big thanks to [email protected] for this useful app. It was made for Sprint users but a lot of the stuff works on ours too.

Here's a link to his post.

I got this to work on the one Odexed rom I tried. Make sure you have a root explorer on your phone. Flash this file first (this is stock but will give you a centered clock). https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347798382
After rebooting, your phone will not have a status bar or toggles but you will have access to all your apps. Open your root explorer and go to system/priv-app/SystemUI/arm folder and delete the two Odexed files. Reboot and you are free to proceed with the other steps if you want the 3minit battery mod. You must now install the 3minit apk below before you flash any of the other mods.
YOU MUST INSTALL THE 3MINIT BATTERY APK FIRST OR YOUR SYSTEMUI WILL CRASH! Flash these at your own risk, make a backup first. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
