Hi all, not sure if this is going to be one of those threads that gets deleted or moved, but hey its the 'rom' people I want opinions from
Ive been using Onkologs 6.5 superlite rom from way back in May, and all this time its been super fast and super stable through all my day to day use and work.
But things move on and so does the software and tweaks etc...esp looking thru some of the recent roms posted here.
Now I've just tried a couple of the roms posted here with all the upto date stuff and what I have thought would be fast and stable roms, but sadly they dont hold a candle to the speed and stability of Onkologs old rom.
Now I know his roms were quite popular, so was just wondering what other people are currently using as a replacement and any opinions really Has somebody created a rom as clean and fast but with the new software?
Cheers
Mick
Good question - same problem here.
I too enjoyed the clean, fast, and not pre-customized roms from Onkolog.
Since his retire I've been using first Miri's, then Nrg's for a while, atractive but full of clutter, then returned to Miri's Standard, since I didn't feel much of a difference with his own XtraLight, until I found Xanny's, Its stable, great looking and up-to-date.
Lately, I always try the last Miri Standard and the last Xanny without HTC Messaging, Miri's is cleaner, but Xanny's is nicier, if only he would cook a version without Manila I'll be happier.
Just my opinion..
Regards and Merry Christmass to all,

I totally agree with you my friend...and Merry Christmas to all again..
Kwbr's Topix roms are always a save bet. They still sport the manila 2.1 version, so they are more stable then the 2.5 roms out there. Besides that Kwbr has been able to make a rom that is able to withstand quite some messing around without crashing .
He has a WM6.1 version which is really fast, but his WM6.5 version is also something you should try for a while!
They are not as clean or lite as onkolog's, but they are stable and fast! And to be honest, his additions/tweaks to the rom are in no way a downside of the rom

I totally agree.
I use kwbr's Topix WM6.1 for my normal business use, and have been doing that for more than 7 months ( I was also a former Onkolog user, still remember his april 19? version, still have the complete backup somewhere).
Topix is a superstable and fast rom, and it's fantastic to use.
I like WM6.1 better than his new WM6.5 versions.
Now and then I go on holiday or more easy work abroad, and that's the time to try other roms. I've tried many, and now I'm testing Xanny's Grid 1.6 280011 rom, and I like what I see, a beauty right out of the box.
But is it stable enough for everyday use ? Time will show.
topix
i vote topix super fast super stable and working until the next version of his rom...From Greece with Respect have nice Holidays and Merry Christmas...
Think your always going to get different responses on this. So far you have been told to try Miri's, Xannys and now topix. Best thing to do is go try them. This thread will continue to grow with people suggesting different rom chefs as each person has their own personal favourite.
As I said, go try and make your own conclusion of whats nearest to Onkolog and best for you, as in the end, only you can make this decision

Hi guys i was wondering what would the most best stable fastest rom for the CDMA Diamond be. I have tried multiple. The two best i think were MightyRom and EnergyRom(currenty using). I just need ur opinion if you know some other nice ones. I rate roms by aesthetics and looks but obviously also speed and stability. Thanks
MightyRom - http://www.mightyrom.com make sure you goto diamond section
EnergyRom - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74084
I like the Pegasus . . .
rom Touchflo 2.1 basic. I tried a few roms including Mightyrom 6 and Energy Rom, but seem to be sticking with Pegasus. It is has more recent versions of WM and Touchflo than Mighty Rom and and at least a more recent WM then Energy. It is stable and everything works. There is also a Pegasus titanium rom with an enhanced version of titanium that is also worth checking out. I checked it out, but Titanium, even nicely tweaked, is not as good as Touchflo, in my opinion at least.
IMHO, I like manila Rom. It is much more easy to use. So the Energy rom is my pref.

OMJ's ROM is also very good too http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=94369
Thanks guys. LOL, this thread is a month old. Before I started cooking. I am almost done a really nice Manila Sense 2.5 2012 Rom!
I like the fearless rom
HTC CDMA Diamond with MikROM -WM6.5&6.5.x Sence2.5-build 2012 Light&Standard version
IMHO, I like Sense 2.5 Roms for my HTC CDMA Diamond. I will Highly recommend MikROMs, it has the latest sys and the perfect rom it is always his next ROM (he never stop to cook new ROMs with every fix that appear in the WM6.5 and WM6.5.x sys. Also you can choose between Light or Standard Version. His ROMs are always as stable as what is best in that week, next week you can surprise with a hole new ROM with new fixes that doesn't exit before. So go and get a look at AmiKAM MikROMs LINK HERE.

Very good ROM, good battery life, aesthetically pleasing and fully functional AND more than enough free storage. Could use a little performance improvement, but hey this is the diamond its running on so no complaints
Thanks for the ref.
Hi Chefs,
Just an idea.
Been wandering around on this super forum for a while and have tried a lot of ROM's.
What I've seen is that almost all of the Chefs cook a ROM based on a latest build, and then try to get the ROM as fast and stable as possible. Some of the Chefs really done a great job, like Miniterror, Mikenificent, Xannytech and Gregorz. Still, these ROMs are getting quicker, but none of them are really fluid, like for example a iPhone.
Why don't you chefs try to built in a other way. So why don't you start with the fastest and most stable ROM ever, and then one by one try to add the functionality that we are now used, till you see that the ROM starts getting slower.
On my Diamond I've got a ROM that is based on WM6.1, and runs Sense 2.1. This ROM is much faster than the original stock ROM for the Diamond. In speed and functionality this ROM can really compete with the speed of an iPhone.
Why not do the same for the HD? Why not trying WM6.1+Sense 2.1 and add the tools we are used in the latest ROM's? Or perhaps WM6.5+TF3D?
The must be a lot of way to do this, but the goal is to start with the fastest and most stable ROM, and than adding new stuff. Instead of the other way, like almost every Chef is doing on this forum.
If I could build ROM's, I really would have started this, but I don't have the knowledge of doing this.
I Hope a Chef can pick this one up!

A lot of chefs like to try and use the latest builds and with new builds appearing all the time, the time to do as you wish becomes less. A few chefs have created roms using wm6.1 & manila 2.1 but this is becoming less often as wm6.1 is seen my a lot of people as a dying format especially with wm7 soon being released for mobiles. Also there is compatibility issues with some apps and wm6.1 as most are now designed for wm6.5
there is topix anyway. wm6.1 tweaked to the max

blackstone will never be really fluid, like for example a iPhone because it runs windows mobile 6.1, or even worse, 6.5, which requires more juice than the processor is able to provide.
my guess is that cooks cook roms to there personal taste(i know i do)
and wm6.5 has reached a lvl that it is verry usable for daily use
thats why i think there isnt to much 6.1 cooked anymore
Hi Guys,
Don't get me wrong, I do like the latest builds. As a matter of fact, I always used the latest versions, because I like all the features that has been introduced in WM6.5 and Sense 2.5.
Because I've experienced that the latest ROM's really use a lot of power of the HD, (resulting in unstable performance and fast battery drainage), I was looking for a ROM with Manila that was as fast as the Stock ROM, but had the features of the latest builds.
After a while I concluded that WM6.5 combined with the latest Sense is too heavy to get fluid performance like the stock ROM. (allthough Miniterror's ROM is very good, I'm using his ROM for over a month now!).
That's why I suggested a few options, like WM6.1 with Sense 2.5, or WM6.5 with TF3D2.1 or anything else. Just to get fastest and most fluid ROM.
I found a ROM that perhaps answers my questions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679670
I will try this one and give some feedback.
I used more than 80 roms so far (including English roms,Chinese roms,Thai roms,Italian roms etc).
The roms are from many talented chefs, inluding:
Energy roms,Cell pro series,Deepshining series,Valkyrie FireStorm,Rhodium_AF,e2 roms,Touch X by smaberg,AthineOS roms,Jackos Oldschool ROM v1.1,WCX rom by WildChild,rom by Joshkoss,6.5 Foundation by Joe USer etc.
But my impression is that 6.5 Foundation v1.0 is probably the most stable so far.
Others roms,in one stage or the others, you always would see some "instability things",for example,SOD(screen of death),SMS panel slow or sometimes freeze,Sometimes incoming SMS doesn’t ring or vibrate unless you wake up the screen, weird things popping up if you dont soft reset the phone for some time.
etc etc
In 6.5 Foundation v1.0 I found none of these "instability things".
Plus, this rom has good battery life and good speed,so it is enough for me to recommend this to any challenger:

Never found a very stable rom...
I think sense 2.1 is most fast, but i love 2.5 with CHT.
Atm using Core Cell Evo 3.1 because for me this rom is near "bugless".
I love also Energy rom, but it have too many release (not always a new release fix bug) and drain the battery more fast then Core Cell.
U can try use this two rom in titanium mode..
It's just my opinion...

Almost all the early roms by Sergio were tried by me,his roms are great with a name for very good battery life, one of my favorite. His roms were like movies directed by James Cameron, everyday i just yearned for his new releases.
Since I flashed 6.5 Foundation v1.0 by Joe User,I have not followed up Sergio's new updates for several months, I will check his threads.

I don't find any screenshot of 6.5 Foundation v1.0
wm6.1
Hi,
I have switched from TytnII to my recent Rhodium.
On both, but especially on my TP2, I have figured out that WM6.1 stock is the best FOR ME. Manila is fine for me.
I have tried other ROMs, stock 6.5 or cooked ROMs, 6.1 or 6.5 no matter, I didn't like them.
I think 6.5 sucks in general. Most of the cooked ROMs contain stuff I don't want, so why have them? I appreciate all the chef's work, no question.
I am not conservative either, I am open to new things.
I will never give up speed and simplicity for eye candy, that's it.
Exactly my thoughts - that was original purpose of LBFAR - Light But Fast And Reliable - using stuff from WM6.1 ROMs (specifically TMOUS one, since it was using one of the last TF3D's, before Sense), keeping it really, really fast and really, really simple with a lot of RAM and ROM after boot.
Vote please for the best one.
so every one can desicde easier.
1) STABILITY-RELIABILITY
2) SPEED
3) GENERAL PERFORMANCE
4) GOOD LOOKING

There is no best ROM. This question have been asked for over 100 times now. Each one has his own needs.
Maybe the best ROM is the original one + some tweaks.
If you look for speed, than don't choose a ROM with Sense. A clean one should be fast, so look at Lite ROMs.
If you want something good looking and speed, choose a port of X2 ROM, because it looks better than X1 and it's not sluggish like Sense ones. But X2 ports still have some issues so they are not so reliable (Slideview is buggy; if you don't use Slideview it will be a good ROM; whenever I don't want Sense anymore I flash jerpelea's X2 port).
Right now I'm using "Genesis One" ROM. It is one of the fastest Sense ROMs, and has cooked in some programs I usually install (latest version has some unsolved bugs from what I've read, so I don't use latest version).
Another good ROM if you are looking for Sense is 826x one (one of the best contenders for the first place and highly recommendable).
Valkyrie and Energy ROMs have lots of programs I don't use, so I skip them (maybe you'll use those programs so they will be best ones for you).
Jack's v5 is another fast and stable ROM that uses WM 6.5. I haven't tested latest version because I couldn't download it. It has multiple types, so you can choose between lite, medium and full.
I haven't flashed other ROMs lately, so I can't comment about those.
The best ROM is the one YOU like, so read first posts of each ROM thread to see if it contain what you need, and latest posts to see which one is more stable.
Cheers!
The one that doesn't suck. 826x♥
I have a question .
I think the best rom is original rom .
50 % faster than other roms .50 % more STABILITY .never freez .more battery less bugs.
If someone want good looking menu no problem .there is alot of thems like spb mobile shell .
why should I choose other roms ?what is the benefit ?
I voted for the original rom R3AA. It's the most reliable and that's what is most important for me. I don't want to deal with freezes, not working features, synching issues etc. And if you tweak it (increase font size, install spb pocket plus, spb mobile shell, pointui home 2 etc.) it is almost as finger friendly as WM 6.5.
1) STABILITY-RELIABILITY - 826 (used to like Energy/christians, now 826 by a distance)
2) SPEED - 826x doesent slow down muchn after installing all apps etc.
3) GENERAL PERFORMANCE - 826 is very well rounded, though energy isnt bad
4) GOOD LOOKING - Energy (GTX), but i prefer to make my own look, so ir doesnt bother me too much.
To sum up, i dont think the rom cookers have matched the speed and stability of 826x. If only 826x were updated as often as Energy (but his is more stable, so i guess no need)
Edit : would like to try laurenti's as seems tiny!
general performance and for texting = Valkyrie Firestorm. , I tried 826X and energy series (all) although they are fast , needs restarting and for me slow when typing on the on-screen keyboard. Valkyrie Firestorm best used for txting + maxkey + softtouch config. The best. But that's just for me
agrees with cristidotro.
issues like this has been tackled soooo many times already.
it all boils down to your personal choice based on your needs.
best way to know which ROM suits you best? try everything.
there's no easy shortcut. experience is the best teacher.
i arrived with Jack's basic ROM. but that's just me.
There is one very good "old" ROM missing - PCTech4U v.2 - I'm testing a lot of ROM's but still comming back to mentioned ROM. Stable, fast, ...
i never try using other rom except 826x,but i think its pretty satisfying
very fast,responsive,and stable
good job master willy
I think Shady's rom is the most customizable I've ever seen here on the forum. Have a look here
[ROM][Multi-lang][19 langs] Shady313 Make Your Own Series [23134 Release 1][29/08/10]
To bad it's not an option in the poll, otherwise it would have got my vote. Have tried almost all the other roms but this one is the best....if you ask me ;-)
Peter
I just wish more rom cooker include Maxsense! I've just switched to the only x1 Maxsense rom (Energy one). It looks awesome, but a bit slow. I was flashing my sister's Palm Treo Pro to a 6.1 w TF2D rom...and it was BLAZING fast! Lookwise, is a lot to desire.
Sounds like 826x is the most recommended rom, but I think the next rom I'm going to try will be Christian' because I really like the tilewave panel.
Granted, I haven't tested too many ROMs.
But from what I have seen, the 826x Series definately stands out as the most reliable, stable, fast and responsive ROM. It also has a lot of free RAM - for a Sense ROM, that is.
It also looks very nice, though you can possibly find better lookers out there. But doesn't seem like that performance and reliability can be beaten.
i actually like th xpure as the best
used to play around with energy, but the stability of energy is not good enough for me and the battery consumption is pretty fast for its eye candy
moved to 926 for a few days and the stability of it is just awesome. great speed also and that's what i wanted for.
If you want a rom with the latest tech and full of eye candy, energy rom must be your good partner. But for users need stability and speed, 826 series will not disappoint you
