hi ....
somebody tell me how to put a mp3 song like voice call ringtone in samsung captivate !!!
please !!!!! help !!
I created a "Media" folder on my sd card, then in that folder I created "Icons", "Music", "Notifications", "Pictures", "Ringtones", "Videos", and "Wallpapers". The folders are kinda self explanatory as to what goes where but I add my ringtones into the "Ringtones" folder. Then in the settings menu go to "Sound" then "Voice call ringtone" and choose your ringtone.
Use ringdroid, I have used it very successfully to set mp3s as ring tones.

Hi ali-bb,
of course you can
Just copy your mp3 file into folder \windows\rings and you can choose it as ring tone.
BTW, normally music mp3s are very long and stereo, which wastes your storage space. So the best is to shorten your mp3 on your PC with a program like Audacity (freeware, but there are many other programs for this too) and save it as mono mp3.

MP3's as ringtones
There's an even easier way to get an MP3 ring / SMS tone using the Kaiser.
Open the MP3 in HTC Audio Manager or load it using the 'Library' selection.
Select 'Menu', 'Set as Ring tone' ... this will take you into the next menu.
Select 'Trim' and mark in and out the length of your ring tone.
Select 'OK' and then save to Ringtone folder.
'Start', 'Settings', 'Personal', Sounds and Notifications' will be where you want to set up the appropriate tones.
If you don't have 'HTC Audio Manager', you'll find the cab on the forum.
Enjoy
as far as sms alerts, with original rom you'd have to convert it to wav and put it in the windows folder.
i've seen cooked roms handle whole mp3 songs for sms/mms alerts
Even easier way:
On WM 6.5 click and hold the mp3 file in File Explorer, then select set as ringtone from the menu.
Works for me. No need to shorten file.
htc mp3 trimmer works awesome you can choose how long u want the ringtone to be, save it as default or have it saved to ringtones folder, it will show up in your list of ringtones,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412410
or if your like me and only use custom ringtones you can go here and upload and create your own ringtones for free, no ads or hastle,

hope this has been some help

i dont think you can eliminate it from audio library but i think any music file you put into the "sounds" folder in app data will show in your ringtone list, or rename it to RT- infront of the mp3 title and put into your ringtones folder in "my documents"
thats what happens with mine, hope this helps
go to
htc.com/us/support/t-mobile-hd2/help/audio-and-ringtones
As stated above, when I had my T-mo mda, in order to get audio to work for sms, had to convert it to .wav easy enough to do tho.

Did you try My documents/My Ringtones ?
tnks, its work.
but how can i change the default folder for the ringtones?
the main memory is very small and i want to put my ringtones on the Internal Memory(4GB)
can you help me'?
up
somebody?
Put them either into \Internal Storage or \Internal Storage\My Documents. That works 100%. Good luck!
As above, did you try My documents/My Ringtones ?
How to ad mp3 as ring signal and sms signal in diamond2??
Kind regards/ F
You must put them in your " My Documents " map
Then they should be in the list of all the standard ringtones
I think you can just add them to the root of the storage card, or personally I add them to My Documents\My Ringtones.
I think SMS alerts are slightly different. I find you have to add them to the \windows directory.
Hope this helps - my first post!
Cheers,
James.
The ring tone can be of Mp3 format. Place the file in /mydevice/My Documents/Ringtones.
The sms alert tone MUST be in wav format. Mp3 format wil NOT work!
The sms alert tone (in wav format!) must be placed in the windows folder. E.g. /mydevice/windows.
Changing SMS alert tone is done in the following way on the phone:
1) Go to settings.
2) Press left soft key named advanced.
3) Select left soft key named personal.
3) Select sounds and messages.
4) Select number two tab named messages.
5) Select the new messages option and select the sms alert tone after own choice.
Changing ringtone is done in the same way with 5) being to select new call option.
On my D2 the audio files don't have to be .wav files. I use a normal .mp3 file as a text alert.
The only difference with my ringtone is that I have to place the text alert file in \my documents, whereas the files I use for my ringtone can be placed wherever I want.
Tones for sms must be in your Windows folder just put the tone you want in there. then go to sms tone and select.
trust me i have done it.....
Marko
For me it worked with SMS putting MP3s in Application Data/Sounds
I guess it deppends on the rom. I have the dutch one, and like I said: I have to place the files in the main \my documents folder.

Hey all,
I have had an Xperia for about 6 months now and one thing that i have been unable to do is set a custom text tone. For some reason it will only let me select from the default tones. I would be grateful if somebody could guide me to a way round this so i can set my own text tone.
Cheers in advance for any help offered.

Where is your mp3 song? it must be in the root directory of the SD Card or inside Xperia "My documents" folder.

No, it does support mp3 for notifications. I currently have an mp3 for new sms.
it does support mp3 tones.
For text tones you have to put it into the Windows directory folder.
For call tones you have to put it into the My Documents>My ringtones folder.
where is the windows folder you have to put it into? sorry im new to all this
open your file explorer.. go up until u are at My Device. there you can see windows folder, open it and paste the mp3s or audio file(s) that you want them to appear in the text tone setting..
lol cheers that was well easy

Ringtones and notifications go in the media/audio/ringtone or notification folder.
after you transfer the tones to your sdcard ,restart your phone , then open the app you want a tone for press menu->>settings->>ringtone/notification ..
