This for ICS Passion v12 and V13 RC1. It also works on CM9 b15
This is not my work. It was coded by evilisto in the Nexus S forums. I only modified the key layouts for the Vibrant and the update script.
Here's evilisto's original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21501238
I do not use my capacitive search button especially with the Google search bar persistant on my homescreen so this Mod will remap the search button to the ICS task switcher so you no longer have to long press the home button.
I have tested it with ICS Passion v12. Others have confirmed it works on Passion v13rc1 and CM9 b15.
As usual flash at your own risk.

It is a CWM flashable zip.
All credit for this goes to evilisto so please thank him for his work.

Since I use the search (just not as frequently) is there a way to add the search functionality when one long presses the search button?
I would like very much to use this mod but not completely lose the quick search if possible...

Unfortunately this replaces the search function. Leave things as is and use the home long press.
ICS on the nexus doesn't have a search key anymore. Just back home and resent tasks. This makes our phones the same. Sorry

Vibrant + ICS
If you cant wait, just pull your current android policy.jar and flash. push back if it doesnt work.
I was already using from the post you linked. Nice to have a zip with correct keys.
Tested and confirmed working on CM9 build 15
Thanks. Working on Passion v12. Breathes some life into a button I haven't touched in like 2 years.

Annex1, that doesn't seem to be working for me... i remember that's how it worked with MIUI though. is that what you're thinking of?
at any rate, anyone know whether this will work with Passion v13? or will there be an update?
thanks!

Is it suppose to unlock the screen by pressing the menu key? Mine does, just checking.
Menu unlock is not checked, I didnt try it without wake lock so maybe its cm9 thing.

Well... since jokersax provided mirrors to those files I will put down my mirrors tomorow.
Hopefully we wont need then soon.
great work, i do have one thought though, maybe rather change the "settings" button to the apps buttons, since ics doesnt have a settings button by itself, and the search button is quite useful at times.
Volume rocker already has its own settings switch, so sooner or later it will be built in.
Remapping soft keys switch is a good idea for older phone, since new ics guidelines are no physical buttons. But thinking more about, which apk you will assign for a button that is a house drawing? Always the launcher I think. The same for the back and search buttons. Menu is the more "plastic" button.
btw, vol MOD working good for turls v6. Didn't test it to jokers beta.

I know many people love the quick reply feature of CM messaging app. Well now TW users can sort of enjoy that also!
1. Download Floating Notifications (AWESOME app developed by XDA member @crazyfool_1).
1B. Enable FLoating Notifications in accessibility (you will be prompted to do this anyway).1C. Make sure you are on version 1.5.0.2 (main menu of Floating Notifications app... More--->About) and have a card named "Extensions".2. Download Floating Notifications SMS Extension (keep in mind this is still in alpha stage!).
2B. Request to be in the alpha testing group for SMS Extension. If that link doesn't work, then GO HERE and on the left click on the "Extensions" tab.3. Push the SMS Extension APK to system/apps & set permissions (RW-R-R).
4. Reboot.
5. Go to Floating Notifications and then into extensions, then check SMS Extension.
6. Go into settings check "quick reply overlay" to ON.
7. You now have quick reply for TW messaging app (or whatever messaging app you use it will work for!) and you can also mark as read as well!

Is it possible to make a mod to swap back button with recent apps button? It's a big thumb stretch!
You can if you goto developer options and check force RTL. The only downside is that it flips everything to a RH laylout.

Hello all,
I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions on how to swap the back button with the recents button? There has been talk of it but after much searching I cannot find any specific advice on how to mod this on this device.
Much appreciated, thanks in advance

It's a SystemUI mod. From what I've seen, it isn't too difficult. Only required swapping a couple of lines for me. There's a modded stock 5.0.1 apk in this thread.
I'd love to get a menu button all the time too

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately though that did not work for me. I am on the latest LiquidSmooth and copying it over instantly caused force closes and rebooting didn't save it. Nandroid restored.
Any suggestions?

Many roms customize the system files to provide you with different features. As a result, replacing them with stock files can get those fcs. I may be able to take a look later tonight to get a working version for you.

You can try this. It's from LS 12-16 build. Warning: it was a bit hit-or-miss with me, so keep that nandroid ready. Also, this is something the LiquidSmooth makers could add to their rom, so you should ask nicely.
