Latitude not updating automatically... / Not working properly - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have HTC G1 with CM4 (Android 1.6) Installed, Latitude and Google Maps updated.
I have Data Plan.
I want my phone to automatically update my current location.
I am not sure what the problem is... But I think it would only update my location when I open Latitude.
But sometimes even after I open Latitude, and on the phone it says that my location is updated, I then check through a different google account to see if it was in fact updated, but nope! It says "Last update 7 hours ago" or something, and it doesn't show the right location.
Something is really not right. Did anybody experience this kinda problem and/or knows how to fix it? Please help!
Thanks.
Edit;
P.S. In settings under "My location", "Enable GPS Sattelites" is Checked and the other 2 are unchecked.

[Q] Latitude Doesn't Update

Hey all,
For some reason my location in Latitude doesn't update in the background unless I go into the app. I've got it set to update automatically.
Any ideas?

Mine was working for a few weeks then just stopped. Not sure if it's because I'm usually only running on 2G? (since Froyo 3G is unreliable in the house).
I nearly always have a 3G connection. It can't be that for me, surely.
Bumping for sweet justice
Does anyone have any idea why Latitude won't automatically update my location unless I launch the app?
Two things:
Have you checked your latitude security/privacy settings in the menu? You need to have that set to update in the background.
Also, enable the google latitude location history http://www.google.com/latitude/apps and check, i have found that my phone reports in the maps app as if it had not been updating but it in fact had. It just does not refresh the icon in maps when it does that.
If not those two items, then I do not know what.
Thanks snlu178,
I had enabled background updating. I've managed to see my location history now that's it's built up (you don't get to see it right after signing up) and I can see that it's updating in the background. Thanks a lot for the advice.

I had the same problem and I just cleared all Maps data from the Applications menu in Settings, and made sure I tapped Join Latitude instead of just enabling the Latitude layer.

Oh, just tried that, lets see how it goes
Remember it only uses cell tower location while in the background, not true gps satellites. So you won't see your location move in real time, it will only update once every 10 minutes or so.

Location Services failure

Had an unbranded Inredible S running Android 2.3.3 for about a month. A week ago location services stopped working. Factory reset and run apps like GPS fix, still not working. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I too have this problem. (using an HTC Incredible S, rooted, using Virtuous Unity Rom, Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.0), Everytime I run Locations it keeps saying my files are missing, when it downloads it, it shows my location in Chinese, but when i go to Google maps and hit the little icon to show my location, its says "Waiting for Location", then after some time it says, "Your Location is temporarily unavailable." Guys any help here would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Latest unrooted ROM - No Nav Working - Help?

I had to use my company iPhone today because I can't seem to get ANY navigation program for my Samsung Galaxy Camera to work.
- Native Google Maps/Navigation says there is no network connection even though I can go in Chrome on the device and connect and find things (but no step-by-step) using maps.google.com and Gmail and other network programs from Google and others work fine. Since the Galaxy Camera supports a SIM card but I never use it (I carry a WiFi dongle/MiFi) I'm wondering if it is trying to get on AT&T even though the WiFi is active?
- Tried CoPilot GPS, and it insisted on first installing their offline maps that are 13 Gigs. Wouldn't let me set it up to use my SD card, and wouldn't let me use without installing maps first
- Tried MapFactor Navigation and the free version won't let you enter a street address. You can give country, then state, then street, but unless you can find a cross street it knows about, you get directions that are "in the area". Paid version supposedly supports the usual address search, but who wants to pay to find out if it really does?
Anything that I can do to get Google Maps to work right or some other program that will work if I always have WiFi?
After a couple hours of Google Fu, I discovered the issue was with the latest version of the Maps application. When Google removed Latitude it also messes with the setting for whether to report location or not, and gets confused.
To fix this you have to go into Application Manager, go to Maps, choose "Uninstall Updates". Then go to the Play Store and choose to update. When it finishes the update and you see the button in the store change to "Open" make SURE to open the application from there. That will then give you the chance to accept the new terms of service, and to select the proper location reporting setting.
After that it works properly. Supposedly several folks with other Galaxy products and the latest Nexus products encountered the same issue.

Google Maps Updates no matter what your settings are

I use an OLD version of Maps. It's simple, I'm used to it, so I stick with it.
Recently the Maps app started updating itself without prompt, without me going to the Market and selecting it. It updates despite the fact I have "don't auto update" set for all my apps on the Market app. I disconnected it from the Market in Titanium Backup but that only lasts for a short time as you probably all know. I found a setting in TB where some items were set for auto update and I turned ALL of them off (including Maps). Then today I found it had updated itself back to the current version again.
I've tried everything I know of. I have currently frozen the Market app to see if that will prevent an update. But you know what? I'm sick of this, and I'm trying out Nokia's Here Maps.
Just for update purposes, freezing the Play Market app did not stop a self-update of Maps.
I then googled again, and found a mention of stopping changes to another app by editing the properties of the APK to "read only". I have gone in with Root Explorer and turned off Write Access for the google maps apk. That was one day ago, so I will see how that works. It's apparent that the update must be through the Maps app itself if not some push update from Google.

[Q] Navigation not working

Try to use navigation from watch, sits at calculating route, then i get a "check phone to continue". Nothing is brought up on phone. I have reset watch, reinstalled google maps, checked all my location settings, nothing that i have done has fixed this issue. Any ideas?
Navigation not working
Yes, I am experiencing the same thing. Anyone have a fix?
I have also read that people are having same issue with the moto 360. Thats a good thing its not hardware related.
It Works..
I managed to get it to work.. On your Phone go to Apps Manager.. Look for Google Maps.. Uninstall Updates.. This feature doesnt seem to be working with Maps 9.xx.. It has to be Maps 8.xx... then run Google Maps on your phone once.. Make sure you navigate at least once as there are some pop up notifications on the phone the first time you navigate with maps.. The watch does not know what to do handle pop up.. Once you have navigated at least once try launching it from your watch.. Let me know if this works for you.
Talking with android wear support, i will post back with any news
amresh89, that did work. I passed that info onto wear support.
Downgraded to Maps 8, created a route / directions and then closed Maps. Tried on watch and it tries to route and the closes.
UPDATE : Restarted phone and it then worked.

Yes this is a known issue with google maps 9.4. which doesn't seem to be updated in many regions. Fix is to uninstall updates, download google maps 9.5.1 from this link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/maps/maps-9-5-1-android-apk-download/. Always healthy to restart your phone and smartwatch then resync the apps. This should resolve the issue.
Hope it helps.
Update Maps, works now. 9.5.x
