Reboot after every install? - Nook Color General

I rooted my NC today and noticed that after each app install from both the Market and side load, i have to reboot to get the apps to show up in Extras. Is that normal?

Its normal, you can install a laucher like ADW, Zeam, Launcher Pro or whatever you fancy and they will show in the app drawer instantly.

launcher pro breaks?

hey, just wondering if I need to disable blur some how? I recently switched to launcher pro and now whenever I try to add an attachment via whatapp it force closes. Any idea why? It never showed an option to choose blur or launcher pro when hitting the home button like it did on my old phones. I had to force close the home launcher and then it loaded launcher pro.

I'm running LauncherPro and the same thing happened to me when trying to switch home apps. It just crashed and LauncherPro opened. As far as the force closes, mine doesn't do that. I did root and get rid of all Verizons bloatware before switching to LauncherPro tho
The only issue I have with launcher pro is on boot up. launcher pro force closes immediately before it will load and work.

Had trouble like this with LP and Zeam Launcher. Zeam just drained my battery and made the phone hot. Launcher Pro would FC. ADW and Go Launcher seem to work just fine.
Go launcher ex doesn't do this. Neither does ADW so far.
Go into the settings and change the launcher manually.

Oh I forgot to mention that launcher pro does take a little while to load on first boot but is fine after that

Need some help with ADWLauncher EX on stock LTE Xoom

Hi all xoomers out there. The issue I'm having is this: once I launch the ADWlauncher ex app obviously the home screens change and everything changes including theme. No problem so far. The issue is whenever I hit the home button from whatever screen I'm currently on it defaults back to the stock launcher. So then I have to open the app drawer and launch ADW again to reapply its settings and theme. How do I correct this annoying feature?

Install launcher switcher from the android market (its free) then clear launcher defaults and then finally select adw as your default.
OK I will try that out and see how it goes...

Click to collapse
I agree...the other option is to use titanium or bloat freezer to freeze your stock home app.
or find the launcher in setting >apps and clear defaults. Should allow u you to re select adw

[Q] Nova crashes and Apex Stutter?

Hi,
I use Nova prime for some time, and I like it..
However, it now and then crashes. I don't know what the cause of the crashes is...
Since the last update there seem to be less crashes...
I made it a system app, and added an entry in build.prop so it stays in memory, but still the crashes are there. Very annoying.....
Apex gives me also the layout I like, but it stutters while switching homescreens, unless you remove the labels from the icons.
(I am on LRQ, with Hydracore OC, but on stock kernel the same happened)
I use the calender widget and google reader widget from Android Pro widgets, and a clock from Beautiful Widgets.
Anyone knows how I can get rid of the Nova crashes, or the stutter of Apex?
Thanks!

Apex under Advanced settings is keep in memory option, try that. Also with Titanium Backup you can convert Apex or Nova to a system app. I have had some success with those in the past. I found LRQ to be a little too buggy for my tastes.
I am using the beta version and dunn have any crashes. Maybe you can try it also ?
Yes it's true. the problem solve when used beta version
if on custom safe kernel, reboot recovery and fix permissions. That might fix the closures.
If on JB then probably due to memory leak. Reboot device.
Laginess can be caused by errors and processes running a lot. Check logcat for stuff.

I have tried Apex beta and it still stutters switching home screens unless you disable the icon labels or use tablet mode (is without labels)
App drawer is smooth just as the none beta.

Tip: B&N stock 2.2.1, rooted: app uninstall leaves app icon in B&N app drawer

Nook HD running B&N stock 2.2.1, rooted & Unknown Sources, Zeam Launcher per:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613
Using a file manager I installed a side-loaded app, used it for a while, uninstalled it from Settings->Applications->My Apps, and later noticed that the app icon was still in the B&N app drawer. It was not in the Zeam Launcher app drawer. A long press on the app icon in the B&N app drawer brought up a menu without a choice to uninstall.
I finally got rid of this leftover icon by reinstalling the app, going to the B&N app drawer, long pressing the app icon and selecting "Uninstall" from the pop-up menu.
Lesson learned: Uninstall apps only from the B&N app drawer.
Just wanted to let folks know.
