So, how to remove or increse fps limit?
No one did it yet, maybe because there is no attention from devs to it.
Its a waste of dev time

That is not an answer for my question.

Thx.

So we can boost our Quadrant scores instead of getting nothing higher than 56fps in 2D/3D tests. I just want to let it run uncapped and see what it does.
Use nenamark results as a comparison instead then, it runs under the frame limit

Well iv had my Zio for a few months now and even with the 2.2 Update sometimes it seems to slow down and stutter.
I have been doing some research on Rooting my phone to get wifi tethering and the ability overclock my phone for better performance.
Now so far the Zio community on here seems to be very small so i dont expect an answer very fast so here is my question.
Has anyone with a Zio Managed to root there phone and overclock it? im not talking about some CRAZY overclock. im thinking in the 50-100MHz range. if so how has the performance increased? or has the performance Decreased? how is the battery life?
I have attempted such by manually editing some CPU files. I was able to successfully adjust the governor and changed from the stock 95% to 100% CPU threashold.

So far I would say its a little faster. I definitely see a difference when opening apps and especially with the 2.3 launcher from the market.

If your phone is rooted you can use a number of overclock apps, but they use parameters based on te phone the zip is 122.88 to 600 mhz

What were your exact editing lines? I forgot which thread it was where you answered this question before.
I basically changed the governor to performance and threashold too 100. Actually overclocking the ZIO is giving me trouble when I try to go higher than 600000

Correction. Governor must be set to on demand to edit the threashold.

You wont be able to get true over clocking until theres been kernel source released. Has that happened yet? New to this device.
If so, and someone is willing to do something with adb, I can work on getting an overclock kernel for you guys, but I wont be able to test it myself so it could be a bit dangerous.
As long as it isn't clocked any faster than 6.5 or 7... 7 would be risky.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
You cannot over clock the Zio at the moment. The Kernel does not support it. You can use an app to set it to 600mhz all the time. It usually stays at 600mhz on its on.

which is why I said if we had kernel source, I would work on it for you guys. Keep an eye out for it.
Once we ave source, if one of you can pull your current config for me, which i'll explain once its available, it shouldn't be too hard to clock up a little.

There is a overclock widget available that works great. When screen is locked it downclocks to what ever you set it too. Once unlocked it goes to 600 MHz.

but im gonna try and bump that 600 number up a little bit. Just need source code.
Tried to overclock witb droid. Fixed some permissions with clockwork it opened and ran just like setcpu. The app said the overclock module couldn't be opened because my device wasn't listed. Obviously.
Kyo M6000 Rooted with NoAds or Bloatware.
yeah the module is gonna be device specific.
I can't wait to see what this phone can do overclocked!
I had the Droid Incredible, iPhone 3G and neither could play the videos that I encoded for the ZIO without stuttering. The ZIO is playing the video files without stuttering with default player!
MP4/H.264/AVC/AAC LC
Video
800x480/4:3/29.97/1536
Audio
48100/2/160
I was just testing these settings on full movies just to see how bad the ZIO would stutter, to my surprise it played those as if it wanted more!
I will not keep those settings, as a full movie is over 1.5GB!
I might keep the video settings and use different audio settings, because the quality of the videos kick major butt!
I will be the beta tester for your Overclocking kernel option94!
I think it would do 750Mhz no problems, which would make this phone a beast! I wonder what the video sub system is in this unit?

Simple, just remove or move libGLES_android.so from system/lib/egl to somewhere else from that folder in case if your system gets unstable while working with 3D app/game. Tested with Quadrant Advanced, got 60+ fps on 3D Planet test.
This mod already does that but in a different way: it deletes libGLES_android.so in /system/lib/egl (you can see this in the updater-script). Like many people reported this boosted their 3D quadrant score and increased FPS in some games. Why? Because quadrant and some rare games conflict with PowerVR GPU cards and use software rendering instead. So by disabling it you force them to depend on PowerVR. Hence, more FPS.
My quadrant score on rubix rom :
without tips : 2200
with tips : 2722
the earth turn at 60fps
the adn turn at 42fps
with chainfire3d (instead of 3d app doesn't work):
quadrant score 2532
Deleting/renaming that file also fixes n64oid. Great find.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
seems to work great. i don't do quad scores, but i play this game called trial x. on my og droid the graphics were fine, but on my d3 under the dirt bike was pixilated. removed that file and now more pixels. so it must have done something positive.
I moved the file to my sd card, rebooted opened up trial x and I still get the pixelation under the dirtbike.

Rather then deleting or moving can we just rename it and it still be affective?

Hey guys,
I just bought Asphalt 7 from Gameloft website but the game has low fps.
I tried fixing the CPU to 1500 and 1300 MHz but still low fps !
How come the game works fine on HTC One X without modification but lags on our device?

It's probably due to the processor governor. If your phone is rooted, try to install any cpu set app (some are availavle for free in Play Store). Then set your cpu governor to Performance. The default governor on our phone is Interactive.

I tried filling the customer support form, I usually always get a response but none in this case, perhaps the jellybean update (if it ever comes) will give better performance, as benchmarks suffered on the 10h update to increase battery life I'm guessing this is why some games run scrappy, especially nova 3 as the graphics are insane!

With stock kernel 1000000000 custom ROMs won't change that but, with well tweaked custom kernel, even stock ROM will be another world...
i experienced lag mainly with the official firmware but i have not suffered lag since using custonexus and also when i tested kholks cm10 port

True! But with the JB update supposedly the boot-loader is going to be unlocked thus giving developers an opportunity to integrate custom kernels.

It looks to me, comparing videos that p880 video has more details (road surface on one x video looks cleaner like it is simpler rendered). Probably you should somehow adjust rendering details.

AW: How does the phone perform?
Nah.
Oh, And fasty12, thanks for the PM, but 30fps vs 60fps screen refresh rate is NOT "lag". I would suggest you learn the difference between refresh rate and lag.
As for "stuttering", only when it's an app that needs to load data before display. Which, again, has nothing to do with fps.
Would it be possible to over clock the RAM on our device? I know it's possible to underclock, we have seen that with the app 'Tegra Overclock' but what about over clocking?

Why would you overclock the ram? I see no reason for it as we have 1 GB Ram and that's enough for almost every daily task. This would only make sense for testing purposes I think.
Besides that I never saw anything to overclock the ram (because most of the times the CPU is the real "problem" of lag).

To speed up the rate at which the memory is accessed, thus slightly reducing lag, it's more an issue of quality over quantity because, as you put it, 1GB is enough for almost every daily task.
I just think that, for a system which needs to manage memory in such a dynamic fashion, an increased clock speed would be highly beneficial, and if it were only slight, I doubt there would be issues with overheating and battery consumption.
Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to question whether it is possible and how?; not to question the necessity of it.
Thank you anyway for your reply though Omario, much appreciated
