Hey guys I sold my captivate to a friend that lives in NY, and before I shipped it to him it got signal fine, but it won't work for him. He's flashed other roms and modems. Does anyone have any idea

It might be worth letting us know what rom/kernel he's on, as well as what modems he has tried. The more info you can give, the better.
Well he when I sent him the phone he was running the continuum gingerbread with the modem in that version,and the reoriented kernal. The dev section has a lot of new stuff since I had my captivate. I'll get with him and get all the correct info

Have him flash the phone to stock and verify that it works.
Could be the sim card as well.

He was gonna try that out but before I sent him the phone,being stupid I formatted the external SD card and erased the only backup of the efs folder I had lol

From looking at the attached thread, it should still be possible to edit the files successfully without an existing backup.

this is a service rather than full sbf so you have to manually wipe your data and cache using android recovery, if you dont know how to do that do a search
