[APP] ADW Launcher EX - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Ok, so I've been a big Launcher Pro fan for the past few months now after using the original ADW launcher previously on my N1. Anyway, still cruise the Nexus forums (still have my N1 and love it!) and saw a vid posted a few days back of a crazy new ADW launcher due for release and guess what, it's here and it's on another level compared to anything we have had before. I bet the guys at SPB shell are in bits right now as there whole USP just got trumped.
Just been playing with the configuration options for the last 40mins and it seems that I'm still at the tip of the iceberg. Some of the 3D effects are just stunning.
Anyway it's over at AndroidPit and obviously on the market.
http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/org.adwfreak.launcher/ADWLauncher-EX
Check it out ASAP, there is a video link on the market/pit link.
Regards.

Just installed and I'm starting to mess around with it but wow!
There's menus in menus in menus.....
There's a lot of options :O

Thanks for posting, I noticed this on the market and wasn't sure what the deal was!
edit:
Pretty nice!

Not lots of extras but still pretty nice. From what he's written on his website there is plenty more to come

I really liked ADW.Launcher, but in the end I found Launcher Pro to be faster on my DHD and ended up using that. Any comments yet on how fast the new ADW is?

That's one of the reasons I switched over, as LP was always the faster launcher, but the new EX version is blazing. The most appealing part is the 3D home screen transitions, which once again are blazingly fast. The only things which have slowed it down are buggy widgets. I do miss the LP widgets but have still got the old Pure widgets which are a great replacement and highly customizable.
Overall I'm very impressed with this revision of ADW.
Regards.

I find the home screen transitions very fast too, I still think the app drawer is a bit laggy though, which is where Launcher Pro has always had the upper hand for me speed wise, but I love the catalogs on ADW.

i might try this after i get bored with CM7 and the default launcher

Good to know, thanks. I'll have to give it a try.

Can't we use all the widgets like eg. the clock from sense in adw also ?
I can't figure out how to anyway...
I think the new adw ex is fantastic, but without the widgets, using it make no sense
But on eg. my S/E X10 it would be great I think.

Sense widgets only work on Sense. I don't mind at all though because aosp may not be as pretty but out sure is fast.
This new launcher is awesome. It's like adw on steroids. It's a pity I just purchased Launcher Pro. That app is good but seems kind of stagnant, development wise.
Nice widgets but you can't even rearrange the home screens which is annoying if you want to add more screens and keep the one with the clock in the centre.

Great app after buying adw launcher all that time ago and just brought launcher ex wow just so great. Its nice to see new animation come with it. Just make you're home screen come alive a bit more
I think that what first got my attention. With sense and the weather animation just add a bit of life to your phone.

Look for a similar one on the market, Beautiful Widgets might be your thing.
I like this one: SiMi Clock.

Ok I know everyone is asking about the sense clock widget on this launcher but we have good reason to ask this, cuz when you look in the market at this app and u look at the screenshots provided, it looks like they are using the sense clock! I am using beautiful widgets and I have looked for one that looks similar but they all still don't look as good as the sense clock. So I'm curious myself if it is the sense clock or did they find a sweet skin that's looks identical to the sense clock?

That's because they're probably using Fancy Widget.
The old version was an exact copy of HTC Flip Clock, so HTC made them remove it. Unfortunately the new version you can now find on the Market is different and doesn't look as good.
I'll add a Dropbox link later if I still have the original apk at on my home PC (at work right now).
You should also be able to find it here on XDA if you're good at using the search function

Has anyone tried using new themes with EX? I'm finding that launcher graphics don't line up in this version when they worked fine in the CM version of ADW. Not sure if the spec for themes has changed?

That'd be sick dude!! i find myself undecided and switching back and forth between Sense and adw b/c i love the flip clock with the animated weather forecast and whatnot

Loving the new launcher too (was a bit sceptical at first since Launcher Pro was faster than the original ADW Launcher)....but this one is fast and 'fancy' with all its animations!
Does anyone know a way we can have custom dock backgrounds like in Launcher Pro? It’s the only thing I miss!

HTC Widgets with Launcher2

So I tried to search for this problem and don't believe I could find anything. This is probably a simple question for someone so here it goes.
I recently installed the Launcher2 Patch from Jcase. It's fantastic but I would like to be able to use the HTC widgets that I could with the SenseUI. Is this possible or no?
If not is there anywhere I can get a comparable full screen Calendar for this?
Thanks in advance.
HTC widgets don't work without the SenseUI.
Aloysius 2.0 PORT V7 looks alot like Launcher2, it even has live wallpapers, and still has HTC widgets. It's a little snappier than L2, IMO.
I second that. Aloysius is my dream rom so far. Live wallpapers, nexus lock screen, and htc widgets.
Only thing I don't like about it is, seeing as it's a sprint rom, some verizon only apps don't work (only one I care about is skype though)

Due to several bugs Spencer actually pulled v7/8 and is currently getting the boot image sorted to square away some issues. Currently my daily rom.
Does Port 6 still support the HTC widgets over Launcher2? Please correct me if I'm stupid.
V9 is up now and pretty solid. It doesn't have LWP, though.
Just to be clear, it'n not running Launcher2, but he's modded the sense launcher to look like it. That way, you can still use HTC widgets.

well...I ran V9, 10 and now on 11...but I want that menu effect where the icons drop into the screen..instead of them sliding up.. thats why I love launcher 2....He does have Launcher 2 on 10..but you can't use HTC icons on there..
Exactly. Thanks for clarifying!

LauncherPro Beta

This post is targeted towards all the leakers out there. If you're still looking for a Nexus One-style home replacement app, look no further than LauncherPro Beta. It has an app launcher drawer with a *very* smooth 3D fly-in effect, a la the Nexus One. Home screen scrolling stutter is also eliminated, and overall the app just flies performance-wise.
I'm sure many of you have heard of it; this thread is for the people who haven't. Please no flaming.
EDIT: You can also "pinch-zoom" the home screen to get a helicopter view - just like the Sense UI.

Yeah its a decent little application, However you should probably post this in themes and apps as it doesn't relate to development. Not flaming just saying you posted in the wrong forum.
I agree with you that it doesn't really belong here, but I was hoping to ward off a lot of the people complaining about not having root and how they can't make their phone look like a Nexus One. Maybe my efforts are futile...
I use LauncherPro on my Eris. I have one tip to throw out there for root users who want to use this... the app doesn't (yet) have a feature to customize what the dock icons do. And on a Sense-based ROM, you will probably be getting the HTC Messaging app by default with no way to switch it (at least that's what happened to me). That's fine if you use that, but I only use Handcent SMS, for example.
So I had to use ADB to rename /system/app/Mms.apk to Mms.bak... no adverse affects seen from that yet. Handcent took over automatically. Downside being you can't use the HTC app anymore unless you reverse the change.

Yeah all you have to do is remove Mms.apk and Browser.apk and you get handscent and xscope as defaults (if u have them installed of course). Not technically custom, but still what I wanted
Try updating to his newest release. 0.2.0. I have mine themed and since his newest release on 5.19, my sms opens to chomp. should work with handscent as well, I have not deleted my default sms.
hope that helps.
I like...has anyone confirmed sense widgets working with it yet?
Sense Widgets do not appear as an option in adding onto the launcher pages.
Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk
sense widgets will not work with launcherpro. it is a stock home replacement. only android widgets work. however, flip clock and weather widget is an app that mimics the htc flipclock. you have to install the ht7 theme for the flipclock and weather icons. looks identical. either that or beautiful widgets. there are no other apps created that mimic the rest of the widgets tho... yet. however there are a few android widgets that will suffice tho. use them to your own liking. I wish htc would create Senseui replacement app. Meaning, open source skinning for sense ui. its one of the main reasons why i rooted my phone. We all like the functionality of those widgets, but they wont make them open source. that would discourage many from rooting and voiding thier warranties. id pay for that app and themes as well!
yea, doesnt belong here, but launcherpro IS SWEET!!!!!!!
I really liked LauncherPro Beta... but i also fell in love with HelixLauncher mostly because you can customize the bottom bar for any apps that you want and its also free on the market
The developer of that app is actually working on updating it to be able to customize the bottom dock. I did a lil reading here on the boards & found a way to re route the messaging shortcut to handcent. Works like a charm. Til then ill still rock with sense until that update comes along. If your rooted and using ported hero rom, try adw launcher. Its the best so far. Now it has the customizable bottom dock. Its A flashable file so use at your own risk. And do not forget to do nandroid backup.

Its called Weather Widgets and its made by the "Android Apps" people. It looks JUST LIKE the sense Clock/Weather widget and functions the same way too. Its what I use with the Launcher Pro Beta. Looks just like sense. I believe its a paid app though.
Also, Weather Widgets (yr.no) by Thomware is very close to sense also.
Just installed LauncherPro Beta, and I LOVE it. Now that you can change what the shortcuts on the bottom go to, I believe I'm going to completely abandon HelixLauncher. This one is WAY better.
I use LauncherPro Beta. I love it. Customize the dock, change screens
Pretty fast too. MFLOPS 3.34 @ 1.62 sec, 3.358 @ 1.61 sec, 3.323 @ 1.63.
Not too bad. OC to 768.
Is there a way to replace the stock launcher home (not rosie) with this launcher been trying all day....i really want to be a pro and put the new launcher in system/apps as opposed to data/app
is this possible ?
Edit: nevermind I got it
ADW
Guys, ADW launcher is in the market now. just search adw
I find this blows even launcherpro away
edit: and it's free too, just like launcher.
I just installed adw a few days ago, switching from launcherpro, so trust me, I don't have anything against launcherpro
ADW is pretty cool. Was using Launcher Pro. Think I'll use ADW for a while.

adwlauncher vs launcherpro

Which would you prefer and why? I like adw's robust options but it seems that launcherpro is more stable. Could be a placebo though. What do u guys think?
i use AWD
(10 char)
I have both installed on my Froyo Nexus and I'm constantly going back and forth between the two. It's like a personal war between the 2 devs/teams. Its pushing both of them hard and its awesome.
I finally made my choice today and went with ADW because of the number of rows and columns I can make as well as edit the widgets to my liking. I use 5 x 6 and its pretty nice I think.
Thing I miss the most from LP is the 3d launcher and the new dock.
Both of them seem stable for everyday use for me.
But once ADW added the custom widget sizing thing, I knew ADW was the winner for me. I'll still keep LauncherPro and follow its progress but right now, its ADW.
I have 7 screens but here are the middle 3.

The top 86 is my current weather.
The 28% and 30 is one of them didn't update as fast as the other.
The 29.0c/84.2f is the battery temp.
Hope that clears it up.
I use LP. It already has scrollable lower row (with shortcuts), rows/columns change in Launcher mode, and 3D app drawer.

I have both installed and have gone between them countless times but this last week I've been leaning towards LP. It's not a placebo, Launcher pro isn't quite as customizable as ADW [yet] but updates are coming twice a week and it's gets better every time.
LP - I think a great app does not need thousands of options. While they are nice, lp just seems to work how I want and requires very little from me. I tried adw many times, but always go back.
I wish it would allow you to change the launcher background color and transparency though, like adw.
I was not a fan of changing my desktop from 4x4... Everything seemed weird at 5x5 for me.

It'd be nice if you could just switch launchers without setting EVERYTHING up again... Widgets, apps... I'm using LauncherPro right now, it's really nice.. Haven't tried ADW yet, but perhaps I will sometime.
I use adw and love it! I think that it is much cleaner and more "android" looking. The adw dev just released an update today that made it WAY more stable.

ADW FTW! i have both and constantly switching too, but i like adw best
Launcher Pro. I hate ADW launcher for some reason..
I have been using ADW and decided to try launcher pro after reading this thread. They both seem to be doing a great job. They have introduced unique ideas to almost same tasks.
If the developers of both the launchers are reading this forum, please try to see if you guys can collaborate.
Both are amazing!!
And it´s freaking great, that we can choose, what we wanna use!
Android & Android Devs rock !!!!****
I use ADW Launcher because it's open source
But Launcher Pro is very good too
I to really like ADW and especially the open source side of things
However one feature i really like on LP is the screen selector notifier bar thingy at the bottom that's real nice
but still ADW is my launcher of choice! and i only just found out about the swiping up on the bottom thing yesterday! even though that's probably been in a few versions
LauncherPro.

Hate to move away from the topic.. but I have to ask someone...
What is this instant diversion people have to closed-source software?
Just because something is open-sourced doesn't mean it is instantly better than the competition, or does it?
I myself have both installed, I switch back and forth - generally with new updates to check them out. Right now, ADW is my default, the custom widget sizes makes using a 6x6 layout possible. Which rocks!
But, LauncherPro has some great features, and is equally as good a product.

[Q] htc sense and launcherpro?

So today i decided to go over and look at the evo and shift forums. I saw there there were ROMs with launcherpro or any launcher, with a themed notification bar, with SENSE apps and widgets. Now me being a longtime cdma hero user, I don't recall us having that ability. So i guess I'm wondering if it is just that our phones don't have that capability? Or am I stupid and we do have a ROM like that?
BTW, i feel like im asking a real stupid question please don't flame.

They are not sense, they just LOOK like the sense widgets. There are many replacements for the sense widgets, like those with launcher pro plus and beautiful widgets. Gingerbread Theme or ROM (But Froyo)?

Is there a Gingerbread theme or even a froyo ROM with just Gingerbread theme on it? I just want the plain Sesneless look of Gingerbread right now? If not someone should definitely make one. I was going to make a theme port but I wasn't sure it the lack of sense stuff would mess with the phone.
ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro with a Gingerbread theme. That'd be the easiest way and it's all available from the market.

Pretty much all launchers support widgets... did you mean to say the HTC widgets? If so, only stock launcher will work with those... but there are plenty of widgets that are similar or better than the HTC ones.
(Launcher Pro Plus includes many of them that look almost exactly like the HTC ones.)

believe me, if you're looking for support for HTC widgets in any launcher than the stock sense launcher (rosie.apk), you're not going to find anything. People have been trying since sense's debut (i spent a pretty good chunk of three months trying) and it's just too tightly wound into Rosie. I think most have given up on it at this point. I would go with ADW launcher (free in the market) and beautiful widgets or fancy widget (beautiful widgets is better imo, but fancy widget is free). I know beautiful widgets even has unlock animations now that work pretty well and aren't very intrusive. I'd give that a shot if you want a stock look with an app dock, with a small amount of sense.
