How can I make my rooted NC prompt for my Gmail password? Currently it is stored, so anyone with access to my NC has access to my Gmail!

Ooops sorry, thought you ment it wasnt showing the password thing. Not getting it to prompt asking for it.
Ignore this post.
OK, the XDA app does exactly what it should. It asks you to login when you launch it. It has better security than Gmail does. Anyone else see this as an issue? Or is it just me...

Running and loving the VEGAn 5.1 ROM and the G-Tab in general but I am getting double hit on every Gmail email since Gmail app and email app are checking the same account. I know that I can kill one or the other as a temp fix but is there anything more lethal/permanent?
Thanks - I tried searching but did not find anything so if I am asking a repeated question - sorry.

That did the trick, thanks given.
I managed to fix my nookcolor get 1.1 and autonooter 3 on. The market is downloading. Utube is streaming and gmail is synching. However I am not seeing the books I've previously ordered from bn and shop isn't loading. I assume I need to register it. Is there a way I can do that now? Or do I have to redo it all? I'm on vacation and don't have access to a PC. Any help would be appreciated.

i think you'd have to unroot it then register then root it again.
Yea. I'm in that process now.

process is fairly easy so you shouldn't run into any problems. good luck
After you restore stock ROM... register with B&N (preferred method is using gmail account)
Then use one of the root packs.

Why is gmail prefered? I have a BN account.
from rooting Pre-requisites
"Before rooting, you need to complete BN's registration process, you will not be able to link your NC to your BN account to buy books after rooting. If you've registered it before see Deregistering Color Nook on instructions on how to de-register."
Why de-register. I have a registered nook. Can I use a Auto-Nooter and still
retain the ability to buy books.
I never had a problem with a non-gmail account
I believe the reason gmail account is preferred is that it will also link to youtube.. gmail... market etc....
Even with your B&N account you can change the email associated with the account to a gmail.
You may never experience an issue using non-gmail account... but who knows what lies in store down the road.
When I used my (stock) Nook Color for the very first time, I set up my wifi and got on the Internet. Then I went to www.mail.yahoo.com to try to access my e-mail.
I was greeted with a page asking me if I wanted to install a Yahoo mail app. Not thinking, I clicked no and proceeded to access my mail the old way -- typing my user name and password in the boxes.
But now I realize this is the tedious way of doing things. But when I try to locate that Yahoo mail app page, I can't find it.
Meanwhile, will that app work on a stock Nook Color? Or was that page showing up just a fluke?
Thanks.
You cannot install any apps on a stock NC.

I have nootered my nook with Auto Nooter 3.0. It has stock rom on it.
When trying to add an email address in LendMe program, it never works. Nor does it sync my contacts once I link my gmail account.
Anyone know why LendMe is behaving this way?
I've never tried so don't know, but Lend Me has messed some folks up after root.
So my wife is trying to buy a book from her nook color. She is prompted for a password but she forgot it and there is no way to send the password to her e-mail or anything like that...did we juat miss something or is there really no way to do this?

Can't you just go here
h ttps://cart4.barnesandnoble.com/account/request.aspx?stage=mainStage
and select Forgot My Password next to the Password field?
Oh..remove the space between the 'h' and the 'ttps' in the above link, since I cant post links yet.
No I told her about that and she says the nook store its current than the B&N password

Err maybe call customer service?
There is a way to reset the password.
Continue typing in the incorrect password when prompted. After multiple failed tries it will ask you to verify some of your account information. Once you verify your account information it will give you the ability to remove or reset the password.
Hope this helps.
That did the trick....thanks
