Need a little help, basicly Im not sure if its due to Beautiful widgets or 2.2.1 but after every restart it defaults and I loose all downloaded skins and options set, any one else noticed this? Plus when going into recovery mode it installs the CSC apk file every time, is that normal? it takes like 1-2 seconds...
Ok seems to happen with fancy widget too, settings reset after restart, launcher pro seems fine tho, can anyone help me?

I'm on Darkyy's 7.0 (2.2.1) and this is not happening to me. Not sure how to help. you could try a factory reset? Although that may not be fun depending on how much time you've spent customizing.
Im gonna give it a go but back up just the stuff i need
factory reset not happening with me and beautiful widget on stock jpy with different modem and kernel.
also not too bad if yo do app /data backup with titanium backup or my backup.. and also you can backup and restore screen configurations with sgs tools.. highly recommended.

when i go to veiw a picture(meaning im looking at the picture) it wont rotate. bkmo said the problem was the stericson lockscreen. because when he put back the stock lockscreen it rotated again. so i think the solution there. but since the viewing isnt that big of a deal to me, plus i love the stericson lockscreen, im gonna keep my lockscreen so this is more for people wondering about the same problem...
google apps and themes:
if you flash a theme that modifies the google apps, flashing 4.1.999(and up) wont restore the stock app. clearly its cause he doesnt have the copies of the apps in there anymore. how do you restore? im not sure. i flashed a theme that themed my market red and black, then flashed his rom, then another theme, but the market stayed the same. im guessing that flashing the htc recovery, then the rom, will probably restore the google apps to stock, but im not sure if it requires a wipe.
does it?
because if it does ill just keep the themed market. its not really a problem, im just a little annoyed since im not sure if this has any negative effects. can anyone help on this? i dont wanna try because if i need to wipe, i dont have time to set everything up again. and i dont want to find out i did need to wipe and end up with having to wipe anyway. plus someone told me its possible to lose root somehow, and i only have 1 phone. otherwise i'd try this out myself for you guys. please someone try, or give some professional input on this. thanks!
Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to the modding of Android phones (my previous phone was a TYTN II) and I'm having some problems restoring my backups via Clockwork mod (which is a bit of a pain in the ass for me, as I think you understand).
Ive tried to flash my phone and stuff, but I can't download apps from market/start google talk (I know this is related to eachother) when I have a mdc rom installed. This is not really the problem I'm asking a solution for, but the real problem is, that I can't go back to my old rom and stuff. I have rooted my phone, installed CWM, made a backup, but somehow it keeps freezing at the loading screen of the phone whenever I have restored a backup and reboot the phone.
Atm I have resetted my phone with NVFlash, I have not yet innstalled anything but I still have a backup which I'd like to restore. This is my situation:
LG-P990: Android 2.2.2, Baseband 1035.21_20110315 (I updated this with Paul's update), Kernel 2.6.32.9, Build: FRG83G, LGE version: v10b.
Anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong? Did I miss a step in the process? Please help me out!
I'm no expert, so you should probably wait for one of them, but I had a similar problem and it's important to do a wipe before installing the ROM. (There's two wipe options, run them both)

please check if the DATE in your settings is correct. the rom I had previously installed was set to MAY and this made it impossible to use gtalk and download roms.
yeah sounds silly, but worth checking
ah well since you have reset already. but maybe you get back in the same situation at one time.
Thanks for the quick replies.
@Marco_ch: I already tried the date problem, literally went thru 100 of pages to find out what the issue was with the gtalk, but nothing helped, so I'm guessing I made a mistake with the rooting or something...
I already reset, but this is the third time I've reset, I've already tried flashing my device 3 times and each time I end up not being able download apps.
@Jakkelomme: As far as I know there is only 1 wipe option? Reset factory settings? I always do that before I install a rom yes.
well I had the same problem (gtalk, market) but I gave it another shot with this:
http://romkitchen.org/lg/?s=generator
its running brilliantly on my device. have you tried that one yet?
Tried it a few days ago, when it was anotehr version, might try it again now, thanks. Which options do you suggest (I'm not that much of an expert )
Edit: Though i wish someone had a solution for me not being able to restore via CWM!
oh you dont want suggestions from me - I have that device for a couple of days only and dont even know how to properly make a backup
but I chose the following:
EXT 4
Pauls Kernel
Left out all the LG Stuff as I find it kinda useless and laggy
good luck!

Did everything you asked, installed new version of Romkitchen with the stuff you suggested... Still doesnt download appss. Still stuck at "Starting download...". Help, anyone?
Nevermind guys, I fixed it. Turned out the problem WAS with date & time. My provider made the date 12/05/'11 instead of 12/04/'11. It was why I couldnt download from the market. Thank you all for helping out anyway
Hi All,
From last couple of days i am facing severe problem with my phone. It keeps rebooting all the time and once it reboots then i wont be able to use it for more than 10 mins/ 2- 3 functions...
It would suddenly pop up with "Sorry the TW launcher is not responding" and either i have to wait / force close.
I noticed one thing that this thing is happening after i had installed and uninstalled the Golauncher...
I am currently running on Froyo 2.2.
Kindly help me....
You could try using a different launcher like LauncherPro, ADW etc. Or if you have your eyes set on Touchwiz you could try wiping it's data in settings>Manage Applications>TWLauncher. Or if you are really desperate you could do a factory reset. And if it still doesn't work you'd have to consider installing a custom rom and hope it fixes it. Just some suggestions, good luck

Thanks for your suggestion, but i dont want to Factory reset my phone. Is there any other solution.
Actually now i am realising the problem is not only Launcher, but whichever application/ function i work on will hang and the phone reboots...
Hmm, it could be an app causing it since you say it has only began happening lately, maybe try uninstalling any new apps you've gotten? But if your not prepared to do this or factory reset there aren't any obvious solutions. Are you on a custom rom? If not are you on stock Froyo, Eclair or GB?

Thanks for your suggestion....
Hi all,
I've been a long time lurker and not had any reason to post until now as I've found most answers by reading...
The last update I did LA1, wiped data and apps and I spent ages re doing them.I was aware of this and prepared to put the time in to restore my GNote.
I now have a rooted phone and it is set up just as I like it. I have backed it up with Titanium Backup, and have Titanium Restore app. as well as CMW
I would love to try LA4 however am dreading the full wipe scenario: with downloading apps, loosing data and seting up home screens as I like them again. It can be done but very time consuming.
My Question is: Will Titanium Backup/Restore and/or CMW put my phone back to where it was prior to firmware update, with home screens, APN, E-Mails as it was but with a phone that now has new firmware?
OR: Do I need to reconfigure the home screens, font, etc. post firmware update?
LA4 is non wipe version, you won't lose your data.
For information just, Titanium backup can restore your data like bookmark, settings(fonts sound country etc), homescreen shortcut (no widgets n folder) as well all user application with data.
Home Folder can be restore with Mybackup Pro.
It is not advisable to restore system data(you will see red coloured in TB) to avoid mess up new firmware.
Great, will give LA4 a go then.
I assume ICS will be a full wipe.
Can I use Mybackup Pro to get my GNote back to the way I like it?
Or do I need to re download all my apps and reconfigure all the home screens?
Thanks for the quick reply
i wold have thought that ICS would be a full wipe but apparently someone said that on a different handset it wasnt a wipe and just upgraded over the top

Desktop Folder can be restored with Mybackup Pro only. Rest of the things you can do with either TB/Mybackup.
Widgets you need to configure manually. niether can do that(android OS limitation)
Some complex widgets have options to save configurations, so if you do this, and then backup app data, you should be able to restore it on the other side.
I have had odd problems in the past with backing up and restoring apps after updating the system, so I have just made up my mind to do it manually every time. I almost find it fun now because I always try something different than before. It is time consuming, but I learn a lot about how I can best use my devices this way. My 'must have' list of apps stays pretty streamlined because of this.

Full wipe or not, I would still do it. No better way to introduce phantom issues than by leaving remnants of other systems on your device. LA1 to LA4 is not going to matter much IMO, but GB to ICS...I wouldn't trust the install to catch everything.
Thanks for all the info......

I will probably be doing a full wipe for ICS, as Beestee says, less chance of problems.
Will give LA4 a go if nothing else good practice for upgrade technique...
May also try a few costum ROMs as well......

Yeah this is right. When i flash a new rom i clear data & cache in cwm and then flash the rom, install titanium backup and resore and it puts everything as it was, with two exceptions as far as ive found. Bluetooth is not set to visible as it was before and it doesnt set my wallpaper, takes 30 seconds to sort out so apart from that its fantastic, i was surprised at how flawless it does it.
I have another question:
Iam using ClockworkMod recovery to make a full backup to my phone (HTC) so I can restore my phone back as it was before installing a custom rom I did not like or when I messed up with system file etc etc,
I can not do that with my rooted Note!!! I can not find backup and restore options in my ClockworkMod recovery!!!
What version of CWM are you using? I'm using 5.0.7 (or similar, dont remember) and i can do backups

Iam so sorry, my mistake
when I rebooted my note to recovery I gtt this : Android system recovery <3e>
It looks like CWM thats why Iam confused
How I can get the CWM I used to use with my HTC Sensation
EDIT: Ok done it
So I bought a Samsung Galaxy S from ebay, which had been rooted, and is currently running Jelly Bean with apex launcher.
I have had so many problems and had to flash the new rom on it countless times now and I'm sick of losing everything every time and never trusting my phone. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong?
I had a notification for an update for Apex Launcher a couple of days ago through the play store, so I updated it. It then would kept failing, and telling me "Apex Launcher is not responding". It wouldn't even respond long enough for me to turn it off normally... I had to take the battery out in order to turn the power off.
This was not the first time Apex had crashed on me so I thought I'd download Go Launcher instead. It all seemed fine, however it started to randomly rearrange all my icons and then wouldn't let me customise it at all - couldn't add new app shortcuts, widgets, or rearrange anything whatsoever.
I decided to factory reset and wipe the caches etc and flash the original rom on it for now, but not sure if I should try and remove Apex somehow and use something else or if it's the rom I'm using or what?!
Would anyone be able to help??
sorry forgot to mention that I am almost a complete noob at this and flashing a new rom is about the only thing I can do, I have no idea what all the different roms are etc I just flash the one that was already saved on the memory card that came with the phone!

downlaod a more stable ro(cm9 maybe or ics rom,I dont know because I dont have i9000 but i9001),just go to i9000 android development and download a rom. Then install it in recovery but before installing wipe everything(data, cache and dalvik),u will see that in how to install section.Just follow the instructions
Hey,
Start from the beginning.
Download JVZ or JPU rom (Gingerbread of Froyo), flash via Odin. It is really simple. Root it and install CWM.
Next Download pure CM10, install it via CWM. Only the your system will be clean and fresh.
Hey
If u hav I9000 then downgrade to 2.3.6(link given below..)..that should solve ur issues..
