Change ATT Banner - Captivate Themes and Apps

Is there a way to change the ATT banner? I know you could do it for EVO, which I have done--I wanted to see if can be done with Captivate.
Sent from my "Nuked" Captivate.

Anyone? I mean, I thought this was done on all devices for all carriers. Has anyone tried this before?

what banner are you talking about??

I think he is talking about the carrier icon on the toolbar.
If its the boot screen - DesignGears already has it 99% removed with his ROMs

Where it says att I was able to change sprints to "Jerrys EVO" instead of saying Sprint. I want to do the same for the att.

Yes, I'd be interested in that.

If its anything like the epic it is in framework-res.apk. Decompile the framework and open up strings.xml. Look for zz_roamingguard_1 our something like that. On the epic it said sprint so for your phone hopefully it says att. Switch it to w/e you like. Compile the framework.

I looked around for a minute and didn't see it. It seems to me like it would be in twframework though since that's what draws the notification drop down.

nope not in there either

One thing to bear in mind for locating it is that it's not in a plain text format. It's a variable indicating what network you're on. If you go somewhere that AT&T doesn't cover, it'll change to whatever carrier is available. I'm not sure how it'd be represented as a variable, but that's what you're looking for.

Can anyone assist me in creating the images for such a theme?

Okay, here is the link to the smart keyboard. and here is the theme http://www.mediafire.com/?yy778k6t2nvltj7. I'd like the keyboard background to be black with fading blue glow around the borders of each key. That's basically all I have for now lol. If you want to add your own touch to it please do.
Ok im out with friends right now, and i think its gonna get late. But tomorrow ill see what i can do
Edit: i think u should remove the smart keyboard link, cause its paid. But im gonna pm it to u as soon as im done.
Edit2: I`ve looked at it and those r all *.9.png`s. To edit them i have to Decompile the apk and Recompile it. And i really have no idea how to compile signed market apps.

You should check the official Smart Keyboard forum. Somebody has started work on this: http://www.dexilog.com/smartkeyboard/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1007
Completely forgot about theme chooser, could try doing it with that, but it will take a while cause ive never done that before, another thing i could try is just to make a fake apk to compile the .9.png and see if it works when i put them into the smartkeyboard.apk. ill report when im back on the computer.

Yes, but that only works for .png if u do that with .9.png u mess it up completely. The only thing u could do with .9.png is to let them run through a specific script (read the name somwhere on the net but cant remember) and just change the rgb values. Besides that i never tried it and cant tell if it works, theres still the problem, that u couldnt just make blue outlines on the keys or fade the bg from black to blue.
If u've been able to do that, tell me how, coz i never got .9.png to work without compiling them in an app.

That's why I was so confused on why you guys were trying to modify the skin of the keyboard from the .apk. The actual application supports themes that makes it easier. It's like trying to reskin CM7 when there's a built-in theme manager. Just use the theme manager, it gets the job done easy and quick.
Enjoy.

How are you trying to change them?
They are located in your frameworks files.
They are named:

Negative, they are in com.htc.resources and the signal bars are cdma_sys_4signal and the data icons are cdma_sys_data and just search lte to find the lte icons in the same folder.
you need to change them in com.htc.resources.apk
they are :cdma_sys_4signal_X (x being 0-4)
edit:

Yeah i saw that but im looking for something less stock something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070269 but white.
gunnermike also has a White Chrome theme. Definitely not stock looking, and he has tons of icons also. FWIW, I'm using Erebos right now and while it does look fairly stock, it looks more white on the phone than in the screen shots.
There's the Minimal theme as well.

Only thing that kills me about winrar is the thumbs it adds when you transfer a fully edited file folder. That will Bork your apk on compile. I always check each drawable folder for "thumbs"... :-/

Center Clock Mod[dead]

Here is a center clock mod I have thrown together..
Basically this will change anything in SystemUI to stock gingervolt but will leave the rest of what was themed just throwing it out there If anyone wants to implement it in a theme just ask..also your Battery won't look like that unless you are on revocomb THIS WAS MEANT TO BE FLASHED OVER STOCK GINGERVOLT 1.3

A know issue as of right now is if you get that many notifications they will over lap the clock also the text like you have recieved a new text message will over lap im working on that but i have to go for now.
I have removed the blur from the background when using the power menu will post the zip in a little while

Ive attached my framework-res, systemUI, and RES_cappuccino. its a custom status bar and a very few other changes because stock matches this small little theme well. ive just been putting the files into the gingervolt 1.3 zip and flashing it because im new at this and have no idea how to make a flashable zip :/
G4 you should start a new thread on this and continue building upon it! Also just take my original zip for center clock mod open it as archive add a new folder inside the system folder name it app put SystemUI.apk in that and take RES_cappuccino.apk and put it in the framework folder with the framework-res.apk then go to the end of the META-INF folder tree edit the updater script where it says ui print inside the " and make it say what you want it to then create a new zip file rename to what you want it to be and move the everything out of the center clock mod zip into the new one you created and if you did it right it will flash in clockwork mod but creating a new zip after you change the updater script is a must because when you edit that file in the original zip it will break it. Also if you want hop on irc sometime and I would be happy to wall you through it. It really isn't hard. I was hoping someone would take that and do something with it the only reason I created it was for a baseline for someone to start something sweet on.
