[Q] Can't turn on! - Nook Color General

Hi,
I can't seem to turn on my rooter Nook Color without connecting it to the USB. I tried pressing the power button for 2 seconds and longer and waited atleast 2 mins each time but nothing happened.
But as soon as I connect USB (connected to Mac), and press power, the led turns green and after a few seconds it turns on.
I wonder why can't I startup Nook without USB? Is it a "tethered" root?

after you rooted with auto noot you must format your usb card, dismount and then format it. after that, it will turn on just fine. I had that issue too.

You can also just remove the autonooter sdcard and put in a blank one.

I had this problem too. And I didn't have the auto-nooter SD card installed either (completely different SD card installed).
But I did find that if I held the home and power buttoms together for a few seconds it would then come on without the USB power.
It was like this for a couple days after rooting. Then oddly yesterday (about 3 days after rooting I think) it suddenly would start powering on normally with only the power button pressed.

Nook color won't power on

I know there's a lot of thread about nook color not power on and i have searched the forum. My nook color won't power and i cant get into CWR or see the boot animation "the future of reading". I charged my nook over night and tried to hold down the POWER button for more than 20 seconds but without luck. I also tried to load from the sd card but the computer wouldnt recognize my nook since theres no power. Any help before i return this to BN since I'm still within the 14 days period?
Seems to be a common problem tonight.

Wait what do you mean by "I also tried to load from the sd card but the computer wouldnt recognize my nook since theres no power."
Have you Burned a CWR SD card yet and tried to boot off the SD card???
Chances are you have just screwed up your boot Partition and while the Nook will power on your not going to get anywhere or see the screen come on if the boot is messed up.
Please FULLY Read. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
If you have done everything to the letter on that thread, then you might have A hardware issue that will need to be exchanged but 99% of "nook wont boot" problems are just problems with the internal memory being messed up and a CWR SD card can fix it.
ive noticed that the nook can sometimes be very unresponsive to powering on. try some random combinations of plugging and unplugging your usb to it and powering it on.
I burned 8gb recovery image into the sd-card and it work. The key to get it work is to plug the usb to your nook first and then to the computer. After you plug into the computer, HOLD POWER AND N BUTTON FOR 20 SECONDS!!!!!!. thanks everyone!
Nook Color: no power on - Battery to low, but no charging possible
I've got a Nook Color via ebay Germany and I rooted it (Autonooter).
For a few weeks I had a great device!!
2 days ago - battery was low - I wanted to have a look onto the worldnews, just for a few minutes. At this moment a software update (from B&N?) began to work.
After this battery was completely empty.
And since this moment I cannot charge or boot my NC.
From time to time there is the Android starting screen with robot or, sometimes, the note, that battery is too low to power on - please wait 15 minutes.
What can I do? Now I'm waiting and charging 2280 minutes.
I'm using original B&N-cable in wall or computer an tried other micro-usb's.
Restore to stock witout power - I don't know how it works. I'm bloody beginner in Android devices and was so glad, that my rooting (with a lot of helpful threads and youtube videos) was successful.
The last 2 days I read a lot of clockwork and restore to stock. How do it work without power?
Please could someone help me? Thanks!!
I had the same problem, I let it sit for a while and re-tried powering on after about an hour and it worked. Good luck.

[Q] Nook won't boot - "Battery too low to power ON"

I recently installed CM7 nightly 12 and it's stuck at this screen. I'm using the stock charger. I've tried plugging it into my computer too.. no luck. Is there anything else to try? Am I screwed?
this sounds like something that was happening to me yesterday. i finally got it to charge by making sure it was completely off. i finally realized that even though the screen was dark it wasn't off, so it never charged (i think it was just recycling the charge enough to keep it on). if you look at it in a dark enough light you can see the screen is still on (backlit).
so plug it in, i would suggest using the wall charger. this usually makes it turn on (at least mine did), once it does, hold the power button until its off, no backlight is on. hope this makes sense and helps out a little
There's many others having this problem (me, on my friends nook, one of them). Hold down the Power button for a long period of time (I heard it's 10 seconds, but someone said they had to hold it for 30) and it will do a hard reset. At that point, try to turn it on again normally. If it doesn't turn on normally, plug it in (using the uSB cable that came with it (that is very important) and into the wall with the provided adapter), wait 30 minutes, and try again. It seems that very few (I don't know if i've actually read of any) who had this problem actually had to return the nook. When it happened to me with my bro-in-laws, he just hed the power button cause he was mad and it turned on, it hasn't happened to him since
Finally started working. I tried holding the power down for awhile with no luck.. Left it charging overnight and tried holding power again and it worked!

[Q] M7 Won't Turn On [Device Mgr: QHSUSB_DLOAD]

Hi all!
I was using my phone (listening to a recording and browsing as far as I remember) and battery was about 50%, then suddenly it turns off by itself. Tried to turn it back on, but still won't turn on so I thought battery just got glitched or something. Did the following after I came home:
1. Charged normally using original HTC charger [few min to multiple hours].
2. Charged normally using a non HTC charger [few min to multiple hours].
3. Plugged in to a computer using original HTC usb cable [few min to multiple hours].
4. Plugged in to a computer using a non HTC usb cable[few min to multiple hours].
5. Tried pressing Vol + and Power Button at the same time.
6. Tried pressing Vol down and Power Button at the same time.
7. Tried presseing Vol up, down and Power Button at the same time.
8. Placed phone under a bright light (light bulb) then tried doing 5, 6 and 7.
9. Placed phone under a bright light while holding Vol up and Power Button.
I tried almost anything, but phone still won't charge. No light indicator coming up and computer won't read the phone when I plug it in to my computer. Used different USB ports and USB cables, everything not working except that the Device Manager reads QHSUSB_DLOAD, which I read that it means my phone is bricked. This was a bit confusing to me because everything were stock. I never even attempted to do custom ROM's or root my phone or whatever else they do with it. I just bought the phone, used it, charge it and that's it. Never dropped it or anything that could damage it.
Please help me with this since I phone's warranty is already up and I needed my files and phone very badly.

If your phone was 100% stock and it went itself in qhsusb_dload mode its probably because of an hardware defect and there is nothing you can do. The unbrick project is your only hope but its for devices that entered this mode because the user flashed something wrong, so it will probably not work but you should try it just in case.

XT890 doesn't start at all.

Hello. This morning I've turned off the alarm, turned on WIFI and went back to sleep. I can't tell for sure, but I think the battery was low. During the next 2 hours I checked the time several times. I don't remember accepting any OTA. Eventually I got up, tried to check the time and the phone was off. I tried to turn it on, no effect. No matter how many times and for how long I pressed and held the power button, the green LED only flashed for a split second and that's all. I plugged in the charger, and the LED stayed lit -but- there was this barely noticeable flickering. Charged it for about 30, 60, 120 minutes, didn't start plugged or unplugged. I went to work, 8 hours later (phone was unplugged) I tried to turn it on again, this time the LED doesn't even flash, but when charging there is no flickering. No combination of buttons works. Windows doesn't find the device, neither does RSD.
I've never done anything 'custom' to the phone. The last change I made was setting the alarm to turn off by shaking (yesterday, never used this option before).
Is it dead?
Try taking SD card out and holding Vol down and then Power for 20 secs, then let go of Power,
Already done that, nothing. No matter how long I charge it now, after unplugging and pressing power button the LED doesn't even flash. Could it be a battery problem (before its death, it would last for a day)? Is there any way of recovering my data without buying a new one?
Try opening and disconnect battery for a bit.
I'll do that as a last resort, on weekend maybe since I don't have the tools with me. Any other clues?
Nobody knows how to help me?
I'm going to make a factory cable. Will this alone allow me to recover the data? Or if I'll be able to flash the phone, can I recover the data afterwards?
Also, I'm not sure if I understand correctly: does the factory cable recharge the battery or not? Is there a way to recharge it when removed from the phone?
Try to use medfield unbrick script. If You have only green led it seems to be bootloader error so this script should bring Your phone to life or Your phone has broken emmc and You can start looking for a new logic board. Good luck.
I've installed the drivers, but Windows and XFSTK don't recognize my device at all. Factory cable also didn't help. I liked my phone very much.
Did You enter medfield mode using combination with camera button??
By a combination you mean holding the camera button and connecting the phone to a pc? I tried that.
Disassembe Your phone, pull out battery, push power button for a 10 sec, plug in battery, push camera button and connect USB. If it wont help You I don't see any hope for Your phone.
Well, new option to try is a new hope. I'll try that on the weekend. Could you please be more specific:
1. Pull out the battery.
2. Press the power button and wait 10 seconds.
3. Insert the battery: should I be still holding the power button at this moment?
4. Press the camera button.
5. Plug in the usb cable (factory? regular?) - should I be still holding the power and camera buttons?
Battery trick is only to discharge capacitors. Sometimes even phone is dead it can turn on in some strange mode and then You can't boot it to flash. Thats why You need to pull out battery, push power for a few sec to completely discharge motherboard and just release this button. After that You can just plug in battery and continue normal unbrick process - so hold camera button only and connect regular usb cable.
You can also try reset option instead of pulling battery out. To do that do not disassemble Your phone but just plug in regular USB, when phone starts (green led) hold power and vol- until green led goes off and then quickly start holding only camera button.
I have no more ideas.
Ok, I've tried everything. Nothing brought my phone back to life.
Thanks for all your help.

Unable to power on after trim attempt on Nook HD+ using CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.2)

After initiating my first trim attempt, I left my device alone for a bit assuming that it might take awhile to complete the process. Upon returning to the device, however, it would not power on. It took roughly half an hour of fiddling with the device until it eventually turned on again without issue (not sure what ultimately got it to work). I trimmed again after booting up and the operation succeeded almost immediately, fixing the lag issues I was having.
It's now about a month later and I attempted another trim which froze my device (no screen activity, system clock unchanging). After about 15 minutes of waiting for a change, I powered the device down, plugged it in, and went to sleep. Attempting to power the device on today has been impossible, and plugging in the charger simply shows a green light (even after unplugging the device for about half an hour). If I hold the power button for about eight seconds, the green light turns off until I press the power button again.
Any ideas on how I can proceed?
Today I looked over at my tablet and found that it was on, but stuck at the "Nook" loading screen. I held the power button until it turned off, then tried to turn it back on with no luck. This is bizarre.
When plugged into my PC via USB cable, Windows continually sounds the device connect/disconnect jingles and says "the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
