I spent some hours yesterday and several hours during the night cause I know everyone wanna try this out. I want especially say thanx to Chann who always is inspiring me with his ideas while I am doing some nice conversations with him on dev-section of this forum. It's really helpful to have such kind of member here.

This is alpha version, but look for other devices. We still get lucky that gingerbread can run on our devices (thanks to developer). I believe that developers still trying to fix the bug, so I think it'll be better in futures builds. You can try another build that have less bug(froyo, eclair, etc). And always remember that this Gingerbread builds are still alpha version to our devices.
Ready to try and share. Great worked team.

It's not too fascinating but it has been lucky that it's working...
I hope it won't destroy my SD card like my previous experience with android.
hey mymailx you can recover your lost fat23 partion using any recovery programe like [email protected] undelete ,,, then restore ur lost ext2 partion using Minitool partition wizard home edition .. u should only make a new swaplinux partion and u'll find everthing like it was ...
so no destruction ...

My card isn't detected in minipartition somewhat, try any formatter program and the card still not detected so I called it destroyed. Anyway, I forgot to tell you that this isn't caused by android neopeek but faryaab. However they are android.
Am I dumb?
I have followed instruction here: www[dot] neopeek[dot] com/forum/Questions-Guides--HowTos--Tutorials/524-The-Mother-Tutorial---How-tosWheresWhens---All-right-here!#525
- Make 400MB FAT32 Partition and 400MB EXT2 Partition (I have only 1 GB MicroSD), both of them set as primary
- Copy evrything to root of FAT32 Partition
- Run install.exe from npkinstall
- reboot
- Run haret.exe
- reboot, back to windows, no android logo as it describes in the tutorial
I made a mistake? where?
Edit: last command when I execute haret.exe --> unable to read partition table
I change the SD to 2GB then I have allocate:
1GB Fat32
600MB EXt2
Remnant space Linux Swap
Anyone please let me know what to do???? I've been waiting 3 hours in stupid...
Awsome, very apreciate

Hi all
I am using HTC diamond P3700 currently with windows mobile 6.5 installed, but now i would like to experience Android on my phone, and I am going to install the following version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780130
I noticed that I have to create an Ext2 partition on my HTC internal memory first, and it requires gParted which is under Linux platform. Since I am using Windows 7, so I used VirtualBox to create a virtual environment to install Ubuntu.
Now, i am facing the problem that my gParted doesnt detect the connected HTC diamond.
Could anyone please kindly instruct me to solve this problem?
Besides, the ext2 partition tutorial is in some language which is not english, so could anyone please write a quick english tutorial?
Many many thanks in advance!!
I changed from FAT32 to ext2 partition in Windows 7 using: Acronis Disk Director Home. and I was able to install android without any problem.
thanks, I will give it a try first. is it straight forward?
btw, so are you using Android on HTC diamond please?
May I know what ROM and android you are using please?
can you guyz tell me that where should I put my downloaded android file into:
I mean should I put it in ext2 or fat32................
did you mean there will be no fat32 anymore...............is it???

im using the original WM 6.1 rom on my diamond................
you can't use the auto boot android directly because you have to do the partition and then you have to install the android boot first.......... after this things step are complete then you can boot android from Haret...........
I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition v 5.2 for the partition step on windows 7................... but to see the ext2 partition you have to install Linux on your pc.
for the partition watch this.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyO6DOS1leQ................
and for the instillation part and things just follow this steps............
1)Create an EXT2-Partition with a minimum size of 300MB (see video-tutorial in this article)
2)Download Neopeek Android Installer
3)Extract npkinstall.zip to the root of your internal memory / sdcard
4)Download Haret-Paket
5)Extract contents of Haret-Paket to the root of your internal memory / sdcard
6)Now Download latest CyanogenMod6-Port or any other Android (please have a look into our community. There are lot of builds available). Now rename this download to androidinstall.tar.gz and put it into the npkinstall-folder. There are several Text-Files in this folder like diamond.txt, raphael.txt etc. Just rename the one that matches your device to startup.txt.
7)Now run install.exe within the npkinstall-folder. Your device will reboot when it has finished installation.
8)Move to the root of your memory where you have extracted Haret-Paket
9)Locate Startups-Folder and copy the startup.txt which matches your device to the root of your memory
10)Now run Haret.exe from the root of your memory and Android should boot up! That's it.
this step are originaly taken from http://www.neopeek.com/en/stories/android
i hope I helped you a little
so let say I have successfully boot Android on my phone via HaRet, may I use Gen.Y DualBOOT later to boot into Android automatically?
or the only way to start Android is still manually start HaRet under WM please?

My experience told me that,
First you have to create the FAT32, and the size doesn't really matter, but it is your Android internal storage, which can be shown in Windows.
Second, you create the ext2, size between 300mb to 512mb, this can NOT be shown in Windows.
Third, the linuxswap, 64mb (I think is definite, cant be randomly selected)
After all this, u should be ready to do the rest

I have windows XP SP3 and i am using Minitool Partition. Below were the steps taken,
1 - Formatted the Inetrnal Storage.
2 - Resized it to 3.20GB Fat32
3 - other unallocated 500MB changed it to EXT2
4 - and some 64MB under Linux Swab
Once this is done and when i try checking on the phone in file Explorer..i dont see the Internal Storage to run the files..its completely missing.
I reformmated the whole thing to Fat32 and now i am able to see it under File Explorer...Just wondering what did i miss out...as i know some of us were able to pass through this.
HI I am My htc touch diamond is not detected on windows 7 via usb cable. it seems to be some hardware issue.
can I still partition the internal memory? I am able to connect to Windows via Bluetooth(Windows Mobile Device Center)
Please help.
As i see, more and more people are asking, how to install Android. And since previous tutorial is outdated, i will create new one.
So, first some theory. There are two types of releases: ones with ext2 partition and ones without. Second ones are much easier to install (just copy files to SD card), but ones with ext2 partition are faster and works overall better. All newer releases are with partitions.
So, how to install Android?
1. First we must prepare our SD Card. You will need 1GB+ Card. Some users are reporting that there are problems with several cards, so i suggest you stick to card you got with your X1 (it works 100%).
Now it's time to hook SD card to your computer. You can transfer files via X1, but I recommend getting a card reader, since file transfers will be more reliable then.
Before you begin, backup all your files on SD card. When partitioning, all data on your card will be deleted.
So, let's begin. Partitioning is fairly easy, but instead of writing this in text, i will show you video guide of creating partitions (thanks to user e334 for making this tutorial):
(Program in the video is Minitool Partiton Wizard. Grab home version from their page.)
2. After we properly make partition, it's time to download android build. Beware, that root of your SD card will be messy. There is a method to run it in folder (Andboot), but i didn't manage to make it right.
In the time of writing, (my opinion) best release is neopeek's SuperFroyo + v2c kernel. But releases are changing rapidly, since Android is still under development. I will try to update that page, but i suggest you always check the forums for some new releases.
As you can see, this release is in two parts (main release + kernel). But most of the time, there are releases with kernel included, so you don't have to download it separately. So anyway, download and extract main release, kernel and modules into root of the SD card (leave modules in .tar.gz file!).
After copying, use safely remove hardware before disconnecting SD card.
Now it's time for big final. Open file explorer on your X1, navigate to StorageCard\npkinstall folder and click install. If you have done everything right, your phone should go into "text mode" (black screen with bunch of text) and after about a minute, it should start displaying long list of files. That means it's installing android to EXT2 partition. When installation finishes, it will automatically reboot.
Your X1 Android is ready to use now. To launch android, open file explorer, navigate to \StorageCard and tap HARET. Again, it should start displaying text and after that logo should appear. When android appears to be loaded (start wizard pops up), leave it for another several minutes, so Android can initialize all background stuff it needs to.
Happy Androiding!
Frequently Asked Questions
How to return to Windows Mobile?
Simply restart your device. Android won't alter Windows Mobile or on board storage at all, so your windows mobile stays intact.
So, now my Windows mobile is running in background?
No. HARET will shut down Windows Mobile, so Android can have all the memory for himself.
Battery life is very short
Yes, android power management is not very good. But it's getting better, especially last days there were some major improvements in that area.
Camera/FM Radio/Something don't work
Android is still under development, so not all features are working yet.
I can't see my new EXT2 partition in windows
That's OK. Only linux sistems like Android and Ubuntu can see EXT2 partition. Although, you can install 3rd party software, that can add ext2 support to windows (google for "ext2 windows").
How big should i make ext2 partition?
EXT2 partition is system partition for Android. It needs to be big enough to fit all android system files in, but there is no point to make it too big, since data is stored to SD card anyway. Somewhere between 300 and 500MB should be fine. Make it 512 if you have space to spare or 300 if you are really low on SD card space.
I can't enter my SIM PIN!
PIN is currently not working in Android. Turn off PIN in Windows Mobile.
matejdro.. you are one of the best "teachers" thanks a lot.. very kind if you could update this threat everytime if something is new, because there are a lot of new kernels and things coming in.. i try to get in to this matter but at the moment all i understand is.. chinese mixed with japanese.. hehehe

Nothing is wrong.
Actually, Windows can't read an ext2 partition, because it's a linux-based partition.
About the size.. i don't know, but i followed the tut' and put the same size. It works well.

Yep, i have realised that windows7 is unable to read that partition because i did install the android on it and everything went fine. My partition is 450mb large and its working normally. This is so much better then other xdandroid version beacuse with this build you can connect x1 and the pc via usb .
Added both questions to FAQ.
thank you so much for this!
can someone please give the proper instructions on how to use the andboot floder does the folder have to start with capital?
and the v3c kernel needs to be run using someother programs and methords which are there in that thread can you help me with them?
Is it necessary to leave some unallocated space on SD card as shown on video ? And what size of swap partition should be ?
I'm not sure why he left unallocated space, but it's not necessary.
For swap partition, I'm not even sure if android uses it. You can live without it.
hello
I need help
If i start the exe it boot.
But when it is finished it restarts and then there is windows .
Whats wrong ?
Have you done everything correctly? Delete everything and try again.
Also, what is your battery level?
I have successfully install Android with ext2 partition on my X1. But, when I boot to Android, it always hang.
Sometime it hang at the first boot (when Android ask me to configure Google account to sync), sometime it hang when I try to change Android setting, sometime it hang when I play music, but often it hang when I put Android on standby (I press the power button).
I use 4GB SD card and partitioned it into two partition, FAT32 2,5GB and ext2 450MB.
I have try two Android build : CyanogenMod 6.1 and X1-frg83-06112010. Both have the same problem. I also try replace the kernel (zImage) with sp3dev, but the problem still there.
The other thing I try was extract androidinstall.tar.gz directly to my ext2 partition, but Android still hang.
Do you ever encounter this problem? How to fix this?
Hello
Now i have android all is ok and does go.
But one problem if i press the ok and the other buttons does go.
But a little time later no buton does go anymore.

Sorry, i don't understand you. What is bugging you?
Ok, So this is my first guide.. so plz dont mind if my steps are not totally clear
I donno if a similar guide is available or not, bt i had problems finding it so i jus thought i would make my own and make it easier 4 everyone else!!!!
What is needed:
* A computer
* gParted Live CD image
* Blank CD-R
* Software to burn a .iso image
* A card reader
* (I would also recommend an extra computer 4m where u can access this guide), its just in case u 4get any step, coz once u have booted up in gparted, you wont have any net access 4m there
1) Download gparted Live CD (.iso) 4m here:-
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
(The download will be a bit slow, don't blame me, blame sourceforge) remember to download the stable version
2) Once downloaded Burn it using ur favorite burning software(i use imgburn coz its very simple), dont change any settings, it will burn as bootable by default
3) Restart your computer and enter boot menu(usually by pressing F2/F12) ,in boot menu change the boot order to bring ur cd drive on the top and the exit saving changes
4) Once ur computer restarts, it will boot 4m the CD and u will see some weird lines on ur screen, the u'll come to a page where u have 4 options, select the 1st one(it says boot gparted or something like that)
5) Once started it will ask u 4 preferred language, select ur language by typing the numbers given der and hit enter, after that it will again give u 3 options PRESS 0 AND HIT ENTER
-----U Will get a blurred screen now bt dont worry -------
6) Now u should have booted into gparted, wait 4 a dialog to open, there u would see ur computer's hardisks
7) On the right-hand side top corner u can select to see ur SD card (I donno what to call it bt its like a clickable button which opens a dropdown list of all the storage devices connected to the PC)
8) After selecting the SD card u can see ur SD card in the main screen(along with the partitions, if any) now what i would prefer is a clean format, so delete all the partitions, then u'll be left with just one tab of unallocated space(the total size of your SD card)
9) Right Click on the unallocated and then click new
13) A box will appear to create your first partition. Create your Fat32 partition first. Click the drop down box and click Fat32. Choose the size you want to make it (I just write the size of my EXT4 partition +30MB in the 'Free space following box'---Example:- I want a 512 MB EXT thein ill write 512+30 i.e. 542). leave it as primary. Now click add
14) Now U'll see 2 partitions, one FAT32 and the other one is unallocated, right click on the unallocated one and click new then type 30 in the free space following box, make sure its also on primary partition in the create as box, and then u can select any file system you want (EXT2,3,4). then click add
15) Now only 30 MB will be shown as unallocated. Right click on that and click new, don't change anything, except the file system box, select it as linux SWAP, then click add
16) Now click apply. Congratulations!!!!!!! You are done with the partitioning of your SD card!!!!
17) On the top left of your screen u can see an icon named as exit/turn off, click on it and then select reboot and click ok... ur pc will restart and boot to windows....
---------------------------------------------------------------
This will Give your a successfully working EXT and swap partition, that to of your desired Size!!!!
Hope this proves to be helpful to anyone who requires it.... feel free to post questions if u have any problems understanding these steps
can you please change all those 4s... it is really irritating!

Thanks for clarification
It's EXT-3 only AFAIK. But, DTApps2SD can convert EXT3 to EXT4 (Or EXT2 to EXT3). You can take a look here:

once you choose app2ext,you should reboot your phone, then install the apps.
otherwise they will desapear
Ok. I'm actually on this ROM now, and have been for a couple weeks. Despite the fact that the thread says to NOT use Firerat's ALL in ONE patch, you need to. The options you want to use are 2, 4, and 10 ONLY! Nothing else. This will force apps2ext to work on this phone/ROM combo. I thought all of this was fixed in version 5 of the ROM, but not sure. Any questions, the email is in my info to the left.

just flashed mine to the version 5.1 from previously ezGingerbread.
So far I can say the install on sd-ext functioned. Just set it to sd-ext and reboot.
Btw I don't install any AIO from Firerat as it is not advised to do so
Ok for me i partitioned again my sd using gparted and now everything work. I think the problem come from RA partitioning.

Take it from not only Tribal but from myself who are two very experienced members, if you don't want your data partition to be eaten up rather quickly then run the AIO patch options 2, 4 & 10 when you flash the rom, tried and fully tested working.

hurmm, could u please elaborate a little bit as i can't really see why my data partition will be filled up quickly.
As for now, every apps that I've installed, just go nicely into the sd-ext partition. (actually I've already read the comment about AIO patch in FroyoByLazslo thread, but just couldn't make my mind) .
And if it is really needed, should I reflashed everything back or I can just run the AIO? Thank you in advance
Update : I've tried the script AIO but got an error saying that MT3G dalvik-cache didn't need to be bind. It is normal ?

i would like to know this too..
You can just run the patch. No need to re-install everything.
Basically, the patch forces your ext partition to mount. Options 2 and 4 kind of work hand in hand with each other, while option 10 is a dalvik cache bind point. If you get an error with option 10, disregard.
In forcing the mount of ext, this ensures that future apps continue to properly install on the ext partition. they will still have a bind point, so don't fret. This is MUCH better than the ext option "possibly" messing up and your precious internal storage gets eaten away. While this has probably been fixed by now, since they are now in version 5.2 at the time of this post, I take no chances. LOL..
edit: do i flash these in fastboot?

Read the OP for instructions.
thnx, ill read up
Ok seems many usrs here have the same problems over and over again. so heres a tut!
This will probably cover many other topics but simplified here as much as i can.
You Must have the following to get this to work:
ROOT
Recovery 5.0.2.6
busybox installed.
if you have non of these...do not attempt any of this thread till you have!
To start with.
Creation of EXT3 Partitions.
you will need Minitool Partition Wizard. Mini Tool Partition Wizard Download
This is a harddrive/diskspace program allowing accurate modification of disk space.
Never create an EXT3 in CWM, as this will create whats known as a swap drive.
this causes the bootloop. Hence the non boot!
EXT3 has to be set as primary drive not logical.
Size allowance recommendations (personal choice, but this is after a few findings and results given by Salsa users)
SD Card Size.................................EXT3 Size
2GB......(Class 2).............................250MB
4GB......(Class 2-4)..........................500MB
8GB......(Class4-6)...........................500MB-1GB
16GB....(Class8-10).........................1.2GB
WARNING, anything over 1.5GB will result in serious problems and SD damage
This also works around class types of SD Card. the higher the class the faster it works, there are various brands offering different class cards, find a fast and big card for best performance. I currently use Class 8 16GB with 1GB Ext3 with little/no lag
Wise idea before this to make an SD backup, if done correctly your data will not be affected...if you screwed up...you'll loose everything...so back it up!
To start with,
Remove Sd Card and use and SD Reader and insert into your computer USB Slot.
Open Minitool Partition Wizard.
Resize your sd card accordingly leaving 1.2-1.5gb of unallocated space. Apply the actions.
Now you have the unallocated space, reformat the space in EXT3 and set as Primary drive. Apply Actions.
Now normally the Application throws your sd out and says bad drive......this is sometimes normal so don't panic.
Reinsert your Sd in Phone and boot into recovery only
Data2sd script
theres 2 scripts available for these roms.
htc-data2sd-ext3 or data2whatever by m1ndh8x4r.
2.1 Roms work well with htc-data2sd-ext3 script with no problems.
data2whatever works really well with 3.5 sense Roms (Bens/M1nds)
*****There is a warning with this data2whatever script....When using this script, you will notice after a short period, that you cannot update or install any more apks. This is due to a Dalvik error within the script on Deodexed roms, currently it cannot be fixed, you have been warned*****
these can be used easily but the following rules must be applied.
You must flash the rom firstly by the 3 wipes...regardless!
flash the rom as normal and reboot full, letting the rom fully build it self and load up... ie input your details/sign in wifi etc.
check it out for a few mins while your waiting...hey even make a backup lol!
OK now reboot in recovery and flash the chosen script....DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING!
once flashed reboot normally.
it will boot, it may take up to 5-10mins but it will boot. if by any chance you a boot loop at the boot animation screen then you have an EXT3 fault and you must redo the EXT3 Partition in Minitool to proceed again.
data2sd scripts are here>
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?duigp9ky9796b65 for htc-data2sd-ext3.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m7bv6pk024p63ef for d2extv0.43.zip (New/Advanced)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qr5rh2fho1hnbnl for data2whatever
This is a proven way and so many have tried and failed other ways.
Please try this guide. If you get stuck please just ask!
Please Answer my poll at the top and Thank this post...Ty!
If you Answer NO to this guide, please post below and tell me why so i may help further
Heyy it worked thanks man

Trying to do this with fdisk on linux
It works but runs slowly for some reason
I have a 2GB cards, first partition is about 1.4 for normal /sdcard the remaining .4GB for /data
Both partitions are start aligned on 2048 sectors
Issue - applications get corrupted after restart
I am facing strange issue. I did everything described above and have /data on sd. But everytime I reboot something happens to most apps. They are installed but when I try to launch any of them I got errors and application closes. I need to reinstall EVERY app and they work until next reboot. Any ideas about the cause or what to check ? At this point I am trying not to discharge or reboot my phone by it;s impossible to keep it that way.

thats a rom issue.
What rom are you running?
Are you using a Data2sd script? if so which one?
Are you using links2sd?

no dont lol...ok sounds a bit stupid but have u got root? because what your describing is and apps2sd thing...which u cant get on stock rom....but if u dont have full root....then this sort of thing does happen....or...you got a faulty ext3 partition...
questions next...
which guide did u make ext3?
size and did u make swap?
root?
Need file name of the data2sd script u used and how u used it...(this is important)
so i need full break down....assuming u have root that is....this almost sounds like a silly problem, but then most of us don't use stock roms anymore....so we dont have this problem lol

Of course I have a root - it works perfectly. I created the partition according to above instructions (I mean this thread). My ext3 partition is about 800 MB and 3200 MB is for FAT32. I did not create swap - just fat32 and ext3 with Partition Wizard. I used htc-data2sd-ext3.zip in I think normal way - phone reset, installing busybox, reboot, installing script with recovery - done. Everything is perfect until next reboot.

either that or find your ruu and reinstall stock again!
Funny thing
I used my previous card (smaller - just 2 GB) and there's no such behaviour as with my 4GB. Smaller one is Sandisk, bigger one is Kingstone - both known for good products. So switching ROM is rather not an option. There's something about SD but I can not figure out what...
Pls help
I have created 6gb of fat32 and copied ROM and data2sd-ext3.zip then formatted remaining 1gb space in ext3. When I tried to install zip from recovery mode it throws "E: can't mount /sdcard/"
pls help
Thx

how did you make the partitions? and are they set as primary?
what class sd card is it? you need a class 8 or 10 on that size.
I used mini tool for partition. I set fat32 as logical and ext3 as primary. I have 8gb class 10 SD.
Sent from my HTC Salsa C510e using XDA
Shrink the ext3 to 750mb and set all partitions as primary.
BigBear is using Xparent Tapatalk Purple
Yep now I can see my data in SD card. Another problem I triple wiped and flash arc rom again, and given detail/sign in. When trying to flash script in recovery mode, it asks for busybox in some sys folder. I don't have busybox and also script installed, but ext3 memory not reflects in as main memory. Am I used different script or I need to install busybox, if so how to do that.?
I installed busybox @ system/xbin and flashed script, it worked. Finally my internal memory problem solved:thumbup:
I request to add installing busybox step and download link for script in tutorial.
Thx bb
