There are so many threads in here can we get some clean up on the best root method, best rom to use and any possible flaws, Ie battery blowing up?
Thanks in advance

Clean and straight to the point.

With rooting all of the monitors for battery are still included so no issues with the hyped exploding battery.

so what do you guys think is the best radio so far that works well with the new leak? ive got the newest radio installed, i have good battery life but the radio keeps pulling towers quite a bit. i usually just use the stock 1.5 radio but im worried it may be bad for 2.1 battery life.
any thoughts so far guys?
I notice that there is a huge standby time with the stock sprint radio.
I an currently using the verizon radio the one that ends with .09 and it is much better then battery.

lol i was just kidding, I really could care less where people post stuff. Our portal is a little confusing though, like where to post stuff about what...
We need a "Help" portal.
Let ne know your experience with it.

Just cuz i'll get an average time of battery life when it charges one just sitting around and one where its going through the normal ins and outs
I mean the latest battery
There is no best radio. they all work by location.. so what works for one will suck for another.. currently on the stock sprint radio works great for me..

i fully agree

I agree that there is no best radio for everyone as so far the stock one is the fastest for me but not the best battery for me.

Sounds good. I used to live near Casselberry in Winter Park.
Seriously dude, with over 1800+ posts you of ALL people should know that this doesnt belong in Development. This was a total noob move.
Alright, I'm rooted. Now, I want to have the WiFi tethering and I'd like to overclock. Can I do both? Is there a kernel that does both, or do I run em one at a time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends, setiroN puts out a very nice kernel. I use his in my ROMs. On a side note, I would move this to the Q&A before the army shows up!
Edit: you need a custom ROM to gain access to the tethering function.

If you haven't done it yet, flash Perception or Cognition, they both have wifi and usb tethering on. I haven't played with the others, but if you do some reading you find out about the others.

Yeah, I saw more technical stuff over here so I posted. My bad. I think I want to stay away from ROMs. Idk though. I've heard they're cool, but always break something. I just came from iPhone and I was up to speed. Now I'm such a lost n00b! My goal WAS to overclock and enable tethering and stay with the stock ROM. Are there any ROMs that don't break ANYTHING? Thanks dude.

You can always go back to stock, but you never will once you play with some lagfixed kernels and custom roms. I thought this thing blew the iCrap out of the water stock, and its amazing now. Overclocking sounds cool, but unless you are a gamer and actually need the extra clock speed, i'm not sure its worth the effort. I have had ridiculous battery life just using 1GHz and Voodoo lagfix. I would def recommend you try P9.5 (perception) as I have no problems with anything and the best GPS ever.

No disrespect meant to the other ROM devs. I am a DG fanboy and found what I was comfortable with and haven't looked around at all, but I know there are a lot of people out there that like roms made by other devs, and I'm sure they are just as good.
the Perception 9.5 in my signature is the link to the perception thread. The sticky at the top of the thread has all of the guides for beginning to flash roms.
check this out as well, haven't watched it but it should give you an idea of whats going on:

Alright. Finally got back home and got it flashed. Seems fine. Battery life seems a little shorter. I only have about an hour with it. A few questions, what is Blinky? And what is BLN?
bln is back light notification. it can sometimes be turned off in recovery if the kernel has a modded recovery. basically if you get a text email or other alert the phone will put on the soft key back lights. i dont care for it because im never looking at my phone at it is never in a visable location for the lights to catch my attention. basically if i can see the lights im probably about to unlock my phone anyway in which case i can see the notification in the status bar.
blinky is an app that has something to do with bln but it didnt work when i tried to use it.
give the battery a couple days to calibrate. the batstats file can get all screwy making you think you have battery drain. if you charge the phone while it is off and then start the phone the two battery meters should be close to each other. if they are not then the batstats are likely off. you can clear them in clockworkmod recovery. over the coarse of a few days you may see the battery life appear to get longer.
i believe the accepted procedure for calibrating is charge to full. clear batstats. charge to full +1-2hrs. turn off phone and charge to full again +1hr, turn on phone and charge to full.
but i tend to just clear bat stats once and use the phone. im not gonna dis anyones method but i see no point in the calibration thing.
Hello Friends,
Nowadays, I am facing a weird problem. Everytime when i was using my phone for a while, screen flickers and phone shutdown. When starting the phone, it says battery discharged or 1%, needs to recharge again and it happen in every 2-3 hours.
Also, i tried different roms thinking might be problem with the ROMs (i tried STOCK as well other ROMS). I also tried to calliberate the battery with different paid and free application but no luck.
Could you please suggest is my battery dead or some tweaks needs to be done?
Early help is really appreciated.
Thanks.

Need a new battery mate, this is normal around this time, I've had mine since November 2011 and it had the same thing happen. Have just ordered a new stock.
A lot of people started suffering with this after 10 months so you've done quite well to get 12 out of it.
For your info, thread on this matter:

Use pure alcohol and cotton buds and clean the pins. Don't think it will make a difference but can't hurt.

Note 4 has been randomly rebooting lately. Just today it's happened at least 3-4 times randomly throughout the day, even when I wasn't using the phone. Is there any way to pinpoint what exactly is causing the random reboots?

Would flashing another kernel help? Sorry I should've included more info! I currently am rooted and I am running rapture rom which is based on stock NK4. Other than what the rom has to offer the only other mods I have installed are surround sound, camera quality mod, & xposed framework

Most likely Surround Sound Mod, a lot of reboots, hang/freeze issues associated with Surround Mod....
Good luck....
So I benchmarked my phone and it was sitting snug at 5th place in the ranking. Upon testing a few days later I saw that it had been replaced by the SM919, and I wondered "what is this device?" but whenever I look it up the only result is the Galaxy S4 and I know it can't be that. Could it? Anyone have any answers?
S4 is SGH-919 I bieve...this is a Chinese phone
