Camera not working :( - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey!
I flashed a gingerbread build, and the camera has stopped working. I reflashed cyanogenmod 6.1.1 and it still doesnt work. What should i try next? I just get force close when I try to access the canera.

Do a full wipe, and try your CM again...

Thanks mate! I just did a data wipe, and cache wipe in Clockwork. Had the latest GB build as update.zip on my sdcard, and I'm reinstalling it as we speak
Edit: Still doesnt work. When I press the camera icon, the screen just go black, and I have to press home to get the screen to work again.

I think GB is the problem, that's why I suggested a full wipe before returning to CM...

I'm now gonna replace clockwork with amon-ra. And do the wiping options there, then install the CM.
Does that count as a full wipe?

If you wipe cache, dalvik, and data, yes...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

did all the wiping options in amon-ra, and reinstalled CM. Still black screen when accessing camera. Should i try to install a diffrent radio or something? Completely lost now

I can't see why the radio would be the problem, if it worked before...
Only other suggestion I have is to delete the data from the comers app...?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

go to settings, applications, manage applications, all, camera, clear data/cache.

Tried it now. Still same black screen But i really apriciate appreciate all the help you guys are giving me
Edit: Tought it could be the connection hardwarewise to the camera that could be unstable. So i gave the camera part of the phone, a hard knock. And it works now

VZW: Force closes every app I try to open!

As it sounds in the title. I am helping a friend out with his Tab. I have tried various ROMS, but the issue still remains and that is, the Tab loads from a restart, every app force closes. I mean every app. I can go into the drawer click on an app, and it force closes before it even opens. I am at a loss. I have an Android phone but this one has me stumped. Any thoughts?

Have you done a full factory wipe to try starting from scratch? Found the stock rom and flashed that? Let us know what steps you've taken and we can probably help you get your friend up and running again.
I have done a factory wipe. I booted into recovery, wipe data/factory reset as well as wipe the cache partition. It also seems to reset the settings every time the Tab is rebooted. Should it affect it if the Tablet is not connected to any service? He is just using it as a side gadget. He hooks it up to wifi occasionally, but that's about it.
I would download a good stock carrier rom and kernel for whatever version he has (vzw sprint...whatever) and set it back to as it shipped from carrier. Maybe a system file is shot.

I flashed to a stock VZW rom, and no dice. When it reboots, all of the apps force close either at startup or when they are pressed. This is ridiculous!
I used this ROM
When I flashed it back to stock, the Setup Wizard keeps force closing. So now I can't even get to the homescreen or even the activate screen to bypass activation.
Are you flashing through recovery or using odin? That would be my advice, get a stock tar and odin

try flashing a kernel with clockwork. then flash whatever rom. and do wipe data, wipe cache, and then go into advanced, and wipe the dalvik cache.
Any thoughts on which one?
I know there have been other threads relating to this. It will never do a full reset. It always recovers to a previous image.
Odin with a stock tar

I have done a flash using the stock rom. The issue that it is having, is that everytime I reboot the Tab, I ALWAYS have to start from scratch. The ROM changes when I flash, but all of the previous users info is still there. I go in to app management remove every 3rd party app I can find, any personal data (i.e. google accounts, messages etc.), but when I reboot the Tab, ALL of the info that I just deleted is back on device. After just a simple reboot. I tried just installing CWM but superuser keeps force closing so I can never boot into CWM recovery. Any of the kernels that I can find no longer have valid links, does any one have a kernel available. Very frustrating! I have used both Odin and Heimdall.

[Q] Can't recieve phone calls?

I can amke calls just fine. Text messaging works just fine too. But when someone tries to call me it vibrates for a brief moment and then gives me the force close app screen and then quickly goes to home menu.
Bit more info would be nice. Rom, kernel etc?
Oh meant to post that. Serendipity 7 kernel 4.1
There's something wrong with the phone system process. I've had that happen before. Try flashing the rom again and see what happens. I think that's the only solution
Try clearing out phone.apk cache, if that doesn't work cwm cache wipe maybe Dalvik? if needed? If none of that works try to re-flash the rom.
Question did you use TB to restore your data.

Phone gone crazy. Nothing works CM9+HydraCore

Ok so since today morning apart from calls (through the stock dialer) nothing works on my phone. I didn't change any settings or flash anything. Only thing that happened at night was a Scheduled Titanium App Data Backup, and I used the phone for over an hour after that with no problems.
All third party apps crash open opening. Smart Keyboard crashes every 10 seconds because I guess the service is trying to start the process. Gmail doesn't open. Go SMS, rocket dial, even the widgets don't load.
I tried rebooting a few times. Didn't work!
Tried Wiping Cache and Dalvik. DIDN'T WORK!
Is there any other solution before I do a complete wipe and re-install the rom?
P.S. on CM 9.0 (Stable) with HydraCore v1
did you wipe/factory reset after flashing cm9 ?
Its a must otherwise u will get fc's everywhere

Umm I was using this combination ever since HydraCore came out. this problem happened overnight. No kernel or ROM update.
Anyhow I just wiped and re-installed everything as I couldn't wait. I need to use this as a phone not a toy

Problem Installing ROMS

I have a recurring issue trying to install any roms on this device. Every time I perform an install, after I reboot I get the error that the android keyboard has stopped working (keyboard crashes). It happens over and over. I can't type anything and the home button doesn't work, either.
I wipe the system and cache before doing every install, do a factory reset after, wipe dalvik, let it sit before rebooting. It doesn't matter if I wait 5 minutes or an hour, I get the same error every time. I have tried every rom in this forum, same result, same error.
I end up having to restore back to factory rooted every time.
Is there something that I just keep forgetting to do? Something I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using TWRP or cwm?

I was using cwr originally with this phone and with all previous phones, but switched to twrp since most people say it's better.

And it still happens with twrp?
These are the steps I take with twrp.
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe system
3. Wipe cache/dalvik
4. Install rom
5. Install gapps if flashing aosp based rom.
6. Wipe cache/dalvik
7. Fix permissions *optional
8. Reboot then leave alone and don't touch for ten minutes.
9. Reboot again and enjoy.
If that doesn't work then something is wrong with your phone.

I have no idea if this will help because i've never had this problem, but as long as your phone hasn't frozen, maybe you could try installing a 3rd party keyboard from the Play store (do it from the Play store on your PC since you can't use the keyboard on your phone). Maybe that might fix what's broken, or at least give you the option to use another keyboard.
Another option would be to install Teamviewer QuickSupport from the Play store (again, use your PC). This free app allows you to actually control your Android phone from your computer (Your phone actually pops up in a window and you can control it with mouse clicks), so you might be able to troubleshoot a little bit easier using that, or install apps, etc.
Also, if you are installing Gapps, make sure you are using the right one for your specific ROM. There are separate ones for JB ROMS and ICS ROMS (if I remember correctly). Also, make sure the one you are using is the latest version for that ROM.
I hope one of these suggestions helps. If either one does, click the thanks button.

I just installed carbonrom today. Tried to change it to tablet mode under carbon/interface/advanced/ui mode
However, nothing changes after switching to tablet mode. The system bar is still on top and buttons on nav bar are still in the bottom center.

Before installing carbonrom, I did factory reset, wiped data and formatted system. I then install latest carbonrom B8 and gapps.
Reboot that should do it

I tried the Carbon rom and thought it was good but somehow gravitated back toward the CM10.1 Rom. You def have to reflash gapps. That was one of my mistakes when I came from am10.1 to it. Going back, you def need to reset/ wipe factory data which was troublesome since I had to reinstall most of my apps.

Thanks! That worked!
One more problem:
My screen blacks out when rotating for a second or two. Any solution?
Thank you!

I did all the resets. As for apps, you can use some backup app so you do have to manually install all apps when flashing to CarbonRom. However, what troubles me is the black-screen problem so I decided to go back to cm10 until that problem is solved.
