Video streaming online with front camera? - Nexus S Themes and Apps

How does one go about doing this? Thanks!

Download Tango from the market for video chat. Otherwise wait for software updates from ustream and others
Sent from my Nexus S

I have qik, which worked on mytouch 4g, but haven't tried it on my nexus s yet. I see no reason why it shouldn't work there as well. Bambuser is also good.

Qik is your best bet, supports online streaming built in, but it's not updated for front camera yet.

yeah there is literally no way right now till yahoo etc support ns.

Tango still the only video chat option

Has anyone discovered any other options for video chat yet? I wish there was one with a desktop client....
Was looking for another app as well... tried Fring but it uses the back camera.
Tango sucks though, it's so stuttery and laggy even over wifi. I'm gonna try Qik next, but it doesn't seem like there's any good video calling app for android yet.

Does Qik not work yet? Sorry if it doesn't work, I don't have a ns, just a suggestion

ooVoo did not allow me to do video chat as it will not let me select using the front facing camera as my video source in the app settings on my Nexus S nor my girlfriends. So it is not a viable choice for Nexus S owners.
I wrote qik support on this last week, but they couldn't give be an ETA on a video chat app for NS.

About to just program a video chat app myself. -_-
On ooVoo's website, it says that they are working on Nexus S compatibility. The last time I checked was couple weeks ago, so yeah, could have changed by now.
nothing works except tango. Which 'works' but doesn't work. I have a bunch of video chat apps installed on my phone waiting patiently for one of them to update.
I am SO STOKED about oovoo! Desktop to mobile! Anf they announced support for NS!!! argh!

anyone tried ooVoo yet ?
I am hoping Skype video support comes to Android sometime soon. My family that lives all over the country uses it to keep in touch, so it'd be nice to have that option from my phone. I don't really have a reason to use video chat on my phone otherwise at the moment.
Not available for us yet.

currently Skype works very well in Android, just no video
voice only at the moment
I tried ooVoo and it looks promising, but yeah it doesn't work for NS yet. The UI is nice, and the desktop client seems good. Keeping an eye on this one...
Can't believe Google dropped the ball on this. THEIR phone with a FFC and no Google Chat video.

[Q] What do you do with the front camera ?

Hi there.
Do you know some applications for video conference using the front camera ?
Thanks a lot !
Edit :
- Fring
- ooVoo
Take picture of yourself. That's about it. Very useful, isn't it?
The latest ooVoo client works in portrait mode for tab-to-PC conferencing.

Tango. There's also an iPhone Tango app so you can video chat with the rest of the world.
I know people who work for Telus here in Canada and they were told skype video for Android will be out very soon and I believe it because they are advertising skype video on their nexus s which will be released Friday. That will make use of the front camera!

OP: Absolutely nothing. I suppose I could use it for Vid-conf, but who really does that? It's the most unwanted technology for the last 10 years.... even worse than MS Bob.
Oovoo, tested and approved.

10 years? More like 20. I remember seeing video-phones at shows when I was a young kid, there's a good reason they never caught on.

Skype with video for Android looks like it's imminent. May finally find a use for the front facing camera. The only time I video chat is via skype so this could be a good move, though the video quality of the front-facing camera doesn't do the idea justice...
This is cool, any ETA from when SGT users will be available to get the new skype?

on my GT, Yahoo Messenger mmakes use of the back camera only. there's no option to swtich to the front camera.
ooVoo doesn't work as well. i can make calls but it doesn't show any video. the weird thing with ooVoo is that when i try to select my device, it says that the model that i have isn't supported. maybe because i'm using the Wifi version only?

Qik video chat not available?

I have a Tmobile gtab, my parents have a VZW gtab. I have the qik video chat application on mine. My parents do not. I thought it would be as simple as going onto market and getting it, but its not there for them. Any reason why? There is a qik app, but it s video app, not a video chat app.
Is qik a Tmobile only application?
Qik Video
If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me. But, I was told by a friend that it has something to do with being CDMA vs. GSM. Qik will not do video over CDMA, so they keep it off the Market.
I have a Sprint Tab and I can't do video with Qik. But, I would suggest iMovicha considering it is one of the few that had both an Android and PC version that can chat between the two.
Hope this helps!
I would suggest oovoo it's also cross-platform.

Tango is also cross platform with iphone and works very well.

Best App For Video Chatting

Whats the best video messaging app. Right now Im using Tango to video chat off a Galaxy Tab and Thunderbolt. But its got some bugs.. Its really staticy. Does anyone recommend another video app. I got the tab last week and gave it to my girlfriend so we can chat while shes away on business, she's in new york while im in chicago but we can only see eachother for about 15 mins then we gotta talk off the phone cuz there is so much static, and delay.
Im hoping someone has an ace up their sleeve because that would be awesome
I used Tango last night, but the guy I was testing wiyh said my image was maginified way too much. All he could see was my eye and nose.
Try oovoo. It's working good for me over wifi.

Ive heard that from a few people. I use the thunderbolt and i haven't had that issue, luckily.
I'm using vtok as well it works over google talk an works from tab to pc/mac
I'd tested tango and oovoo.
Both dont work fully with Gingerbread 2.3.3.
The video of the frontcam is 90 degrees turned.
The video and audio quality is better with oovoo.
The audio quality with tango is terrible.
The only one working with froyo is skype together with qik which is from skype.
Together working without problems and with good video

alot of people like to knock it but I've tried many different video messaging apps, but I still find the Qik video app the better of all the ones ive tried. Also tried yahoo messenger video chat, works ok but I dont use yahoo enough to use it.
Im gonna give a shot to vtok, are there any other solutions for tab to pc/mac? I really need this to talk to my family in mexico, none of my family relatives has data plan in their phones is just way too expensive and slow unlike the U.S.

other solution to call pc from tab is oovoo and is working great
i m having trouble after i upgraded my froyo to gingerbread, the front video is inverted, the program i am using is QIK. any one else had the same problem ?
regards
naufil
I like oovoo. It works well for me.
IMHO Skype dropped the ball big-time by not including video (& sms) for android. I'm using ooVoo. I'm pretty sure it's the only app that allows video calling from android to PC. When it works, it works great - even on 3G. But it has been giving problems these last few days. However, the support that I've received from them has been good. They haven't figured out what the problem is yet, they're looking into out & their responses have been quick.

Video chat

I did a search and foumd nothing for the D3, so can someone recommend a good video chat app? I tried Qik Video but it kept FC, and I would like a recommendation. Thanks!

VTok allows you to video chat through Google Talk. Fring works for the Droid 3 as well.
My wife and I use Tango between her iPhone 4 and my Droid 3. Quality is mediocre, but it works.

I got tango. It works, but as you said the quality is a little lacking. No worries, though. I really only need it when my husband is out of town. Thanks!

Fring seems to be the best one so far for me. 3g is medicore at best, but works slightly better on wifi
video chat with paltalk mobile
You can try paltalk mobile. visit paltalk.com from your mobile browser and it should direct you to the android download page, or you can get it from the android market by searching for paltalk.
DISCLAIMER: I work for them so please don't get mad, the video is a subscription service, although we are adding 'super IM' soon wihch will allow for up to 10 users in your video chat for free. The subscription service is for the open chat rooms and costs 60 bucks a year.
We are in testing now so it may be a bit buggy, but it does allow for multiple videos at once in open groups. Stay tuned for the super IM release which as I said earlier will have free video for private conversations.
Warning! - paltalk does have 'adult' activity in some chat rooms so this is not an app for kids or anyone under the age of 18. It's not a smut site, but there is an adult category (one of many many categories)
I have a droid 3 and on my 3g connection the video is FAST!
To be honest this app was developed for our current users and subscribers, but if you are seeking a pretty amazing video chat app that is still a bit early in development you may want to give it a try.
You do NOT have to pay anything if you don't want to.
