[Q] Samsung Galaxy S I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone fall out of my top pocket straight into open tih of thinners, So quickly take batt out quick, then got the air and quicky when over it, the phone works ok but the ear phone speaker is very quite has anyone change it or can some one tell how to pull the phone apart please thank you

This shouldn't be in the Android dev section! PLEASE post it in the relevant Q&A section.
But to answer your Q, i'm not entirely sure. The Q&A section has it all there, even a thread to replace the SGS screen so i'm guessing it tells you how to open it.

unlucky
To take the phone part
Take battery out
remove 7 screws
take plastic case off
unplug mainboard from 3 connections
thats it,
the rest is one part.
thats right dig, lcd, vib motor, ear piece all one part.
if your near blackpool uk, I can sort it out. as have a new lying about.

Thank you sorry for posting in wrong section but i/m only new to thr forum. I/ll leave in australia but one more Q/ is their much pressure on the cover to take off after the 7 screws are off and also were can i buy the new part from thank you

little but of force is needed yes. also ebay would be your best bet for parts.

Need Parts for Nexus One

I cracked my screen so I decided to order a new one and fix it myself, while in the process I accidentally tore the top flex circuit board and now I can't find spare parts other than screens anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get some or have one that is broken I am willing to pay ...
Hate when **** like that happens. . . try to fix something and something doesn't go right.
Not sure where you can get the parts you're looking for, but wanted to give props to you for taking the initiative to try and fix it yourself. Alot of people will be like "that's what you get for not just sending it back to HTC and having them fix it." How're you going to appreciate the intricacies of something if you don't take the occasional risk like this?
Hope you find what you're looking for.
Ps. Have you looked at http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp to see if there's anything you could repurpose to work?
Ha yea, I am definitely a DIY-er. Unfortunately this is a risk I knew I was taking heading into it, wasn't too worried though because I have fixed a lot of cell phones in the past, just got a little too careless with prying open with a flat head screw driver, it slipped and cut right into the flex circuit board. Should have been a little more careful haha. New screen looks great though! Now only if I could get it to power on! Of course HTC tells me it will cost up to $300 to send it to them to fix it.

Not sure exactly, but is this what you are looking for? http://cnn.cn/shop/google-nexus-digitizer-p-8252.html
Yea I tried that number and also that lunacommerce site is located in China, no prices on their website, no way to purchase anything other than contacting them first (which I have tried to no avail...). You would think some online store somewhere would have started selling spare refurbished parts. Whatever, guess I will have to pay HTC to fix it, kinda sucky.
If you find somewhere that can help you, please post back. I just had a similar experience, replaced the digitizer and the display wouldn't work afterwards. Figured I had damaged the AMOLED, so purchased another. Problem still persisted.
I've decided that I must have damaged the AMOLED connector on the logic board.
The upside is I can still use the phone when connected to a PC and using Android Screen Monitor.
So now I've ordered another Nexus One, I find it hard to get by without my daily Android.... it became an expensive drop of the phone.

No that is what I replaced in the first place. I am looking for the Logic Board. I will keep searching and update this thread if I ever figure it out. Going on 3 days without a phone and only being able to use Google Voice via my computer is starting to drive me insane!

[Q] ? How can I replace my XPERIA X1's touchscreen?

Hello xda members! The touchscreen from my XPERIA X1 won't respond to my touches anymore since I let it fall on the ground by accident >_<
And I don't have any receipt so that I can bring it back to the store because I didn't buy it (I found it on a parking lot when me, my dad, my mother and my sister entered the car after we ate at a pizzeria). So no receipt, no warranty.
Therefore I was thinking that maybe I could replace the screen (just the screen, found one on Marktplaats)
So could you guys give me some instructions on how to replace it?
Thanks!
Raymond
Sorry, you want help from us when you are not willing to help others? What you find in public is not yours. It belongs to someone else and with a bit of an effort can be returned to the rightful owner. Especially if its a smartphone that is very likely to contain some information about the owner. So it's up to you to decide what's right and what's wrong.
And by the way: Your story how you came into posession of the phone is generally weird. I don't want to accuse you of anything but you know those stories sound always the same Like it fell from a truck
Why am I not willing to help others? The police was notified of it and after 1.5 year nobody picked it up. After 1 year, you can keep it said the police.. And the story is real. It was my moms birthday, we ate at this pizzeria.. Walked back to the parking lot and as i walked to the door of the car my foot hit an object and when I looked i saw this leather case lying on the ground and I picked it up and found the mobile. But anyways can't you just even try to help me? You won't even help someone jeez weird ass forum >_<
OK. To to avoid beeing prejudiced against you I will try to help you. But keep in mind that I still find your story a bit weird
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535664&highlight=tutorial
Take a look at this tutorial. It's not about replacing the screen but at least it shows how to disassemble your Xperia. I hope it Helps.
Ah that's what I need! Thanks! I will have a look at this

I've ruined my device....is there anything that can be done?

Even worse, its a MDA Compact V.
Basically, I got the newton rings issue a few months ago and after reading threads on here, tried the duct tape trick which worked a treat....for about a month.
Then the issue came back of the screen not responding, so I continually used the tape to fix the screen. It got to the point where I had done it that many times, I was having to carry a roll of tape around with me, and the front of the front facia began to lift on the left hand side of the phone each time I did it.
It got to the point where I didnt need the tape anymore, I could just use my fingernail to pull the layers apart which would make the screen respond again.
However, recently I noticed a spec of dust under the screen. I put up with it for a while but last week I decided to try and get it out.
I stupidly lifted the layers apart and blew into the phone. This caused the touchscreen to behave very erratically and did not move the dust.
I was a bit tipsy at the time and actually lifted the whole of the front off the phone (thinking I could clean the screen and stick the front back down) but now the phone will not respond to touch no matter what I do.
I was thinking of trying to replace the front parts myself, but as mentioned its a Compact V not a D2, so the shape of the front of the handset is slightly different and I cannot seem to find anywhere that I can order the front facia.
I've got a lock on the phone, so I cant even flash it if I wanted to sell it as 'broken'
Can anyone think of ANYTHING that could help?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
You can flash your phone if you just put the Rom on a storage card and update it from there, and new digitizers are just 4 dollars, so just put a new one in ( or I can do it for you if you pay for the costs) I've replaced my digitizer about 3 times now... and im pretty good at it XD
i really hate to say it. but i think its just time to buy a new phone. I know money may be an issue. i dont have the cash to fork out for new phones either. but if this happened to me. i would do my best to back everything up. then just buy a cheap phone untill i saved up . i have an htc pure right now saving up for an evo 4g. I just upgraded my contract so i will have to pay full price for the evo 4g around $500.00 . unless ya can limp this one along . but from what it sounds like is its about time to bury that one ...
devices messing up does suck, im sorry..
Good Luck
Thanks guys.
Is it possible to flash from the SD card when the device is locked?

Yes it is possible. When flashing from SD you don't have to use your screen in any way. Have a look in the ROM-Threads, u will find the way to flash and some great "how-to"s.

Thanks Mar'Cel. I notice we both have the same device. Do you know anywhere online where I would be able to order replacement parts?
Thanks again, Max.

I believe if you search on screen replacement threads they have stated where they were purchsed.
Also, you can use Pocket Controller Pro or My Mobiler to access your screen from your PC.

Yep, you should include more details. If you're using official firmware, and it's vibration-enabled already, you should take it to samsung center LOL
Dont use any vibrator apps
They ruin your phone

In case it is an hardware problem!
*#*#0842#*#* - Device test (Vibration test and BackLight test)
The above code lets the user to check whether the vibrating mechanism is fine in terms of hardware or not however one may find quite many steps /procedures to troubleshoot the issue in case it is only arising because of s/w malfunction.
I too had this issue and did SO MANY THINGS to get rid of the problem like reflashing the rom , factory restore, flashing with official and unofficial roms etc.
At last i suspected the h/w issue and UNSCREWED my device.
I used some other mobile phone's vibration motor (it is HIGHLY recommended to purchase the one intended to be used in the particular device).
Note - Please DO NOT opt this option in case you do NOT know how exactly is it going to be (should it be like )
Also , make sure that u have proper tools to unscrew the device and open it up and a soldering kit and two 3-5 cm long thin copper wires (insulated).
Steps-
1. Switch off the phone, remove the back cover, memory card ,sim card and battery.
2. Unscrew the screws (5 in number).
3. Side grill (where volume and power buttons are situated) ,along with the grey colored back portion is to be pulled out SLOWLY with the help of a scalpel or any such similar thing (should be thin as it has to be inserted between the gap between side grill and lcd screen on front side).
4. Now, in the removed grey plastic panel, there will be a black rubber like material covering a tiny WATCH cell like structure (this is the VIBRATOR).
5. Now we need to remove this cell like structure (below the flash light's transparent plastic shield) VERY CAREFULLY , the cell is GLUED on the bottom side , so it is quite difficult to pull it out from the round cylindrical cavity.
6. Similar to step 5 , we need to remove the golden- brown strip attached to the vibrator.
7. Now we need to attach the new vibrator (purchased from market) in the similar manner the older vibrator was attached.
8. Pack the phone as it was in the first place. Please make sure to tighten the screws SLOWLY. once all the screws are placed in proper holes , tighten them all HALF and then after REST.(eg- 360 degree in 1st cycle - all screws then in 2nd cycle, tighten them all to most)
9. Now check , your phone's vibration should now work (Mine worked with a cheap, other phone's vibrator )
Congrats! We are done with the process.
I have attached two pictures for reference (they do not have original vibrator's depiction though).
Note- If u have some other phone's vibrator , u need to solder the two terminals on motor (vibrator) to the golden terminals (shown in the images)
NOTE - You can always visit any authorized service center to get things on track as it is of no use if u end up in RUINING your phone.
Thanks
Let me know if u succeed or if u require help.
All the best.
P.S- In case ur CAMERA has got some dust , u can remove it by simply cleaning the camera lens and inside of the transparent plastic shield (on the grey panel).

What I recommend is taking it to a service centre. You'll be paying for the vibrator anyway so why not pay a bit extra for the service & be on the safer side ? If you take the risk yourself, it might land you in a deeper trouble perhaps with the delicate parts being handled & a lack of experience.

Hahaha.
Well though i have never worked in any service center but I have experienced them a lot like- Nokia, Samsung ,Micromax, LG.
I have seen them working and if you ever get a chance to see the style of their working , u will feel PAIN in ur chest (Yeah , i am talking about authorized service centers only). I have been to Nokia centers more than 15 times, samsung - 5-6 times, MMX- 3 times, LG- 1 time.
Recently I had this camera lens dirt issue , I went to a local repair shop and he literally LOOTED me by drawing 250 Rs just for cleaning the camera lens (That too was not done properly) and he took merely 5 mins to unscrew - open- clean- pack.
Anyway, I preferred the idea to try it by own ( I think I should mention here that I am an Electronics and Comm. Engrr. by profession so dealing and playing with circuits, PCBs, Motherboards etc is not alien to me and may be this is why i have enough courage to take such risks.)
Moreover , my phone is about to complete 2 years and as the warranty is over and lack of trust on service centers I just do NOT want to visit them at all.

[Q] Cheapest Way to Get it Looking Good Again

I'm a noob and this is my thread so don't get hard on me for now.
The day before yesterday I dropped my S plus, like I did many times before, but this time after I got my specs on there was a nasty crack(s), not a scratch (whats the difference?), on the screen. I can upload a pic if you want it, but then you must have no imagination in the first place. Well that's history for now, but I want advice on how to get it back into shape the fastest cheapest way.
After researching in Google (I know its a search engine not a library) I came to know that there was something called a digitilizer and the display (forget the screen). My phone's symptoms are that everything is fine, its detecting touch and the display has no patches at all, its just the damn glass is cracked.
So how to get it replaced?
EDIT; Anyone?
