I am working on adding the ability to launch the Calendar from my widget.
This seems to not work for those using the Droid after the 2.2 update. Can anybody tell me the package / intent for launching the calendar on the Droid?
I am already trying:
com.android.calendar
com.android.calendar.LaunchActivity
and
com.htc.calendar
com.htc.calendar.LaunchActivity
but they aren't working.
Thanks for the help!!

This is a "How To" on replacing the TouchWiz Calendar with the Froyo Stock Calendar. This allows you to click on the location of appointments to load Maps and get directions. Also, click on phone numbers and web links in the calendar appointment descriptions.
This is for JI6 and other Froyo roms only, not 2.1.
For those of you who changed to the Stock 2.1 calendar, the process is not the same as before, its much easier. With busybox and Rooted JI6 Froyo this worked for me. (should work on Cognition 2.2 as well)
-Download stock 2.2 calendar apk from the nexus one CyanogenMod or I have It attached to this post.
-Put the Calendar.apk in the same folder as adb.exe
-Run the following commands in CMD after navigating to the folder with adb.exe
Code:
adb push Calendar.apk /sdcard/Calendar.apk
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
mv TouchWizCalendar.apk TouchWizCalendar.old
mv TouchWizCalendar.odex TouchWizCalendar.odex.old
busybox cp /sdcard/Calendar.apk /system/app/TouchWizCalendar.apk
reboot
Problems:
-Transparent Grey Box (smudge) near top of calendar (much less obvious then the 2.1 stock calendar blue + sign)
-Press menu and select "Calendars" it force closes. You can not hide calendars including "My Calendar"
-New events created from the phone on the stock android calendar do not sync back to the Google Calendar. You can still edit events that were originally created on Google Calendar and they will sync back to the Google Calendar.
To UNDO and get TouchWizCalendar Back:
Code:
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
mv TouchWizCalendar.apk Calendar.old
mv TouchWizCalendar.old TouchWizCalendar.apk
mv TouchWizCalendar.odex.old TouchWizCalendar.odex
reboot
Let me know if this works for you or not!
Worked for me. Same issues as already posted. I am just doing things to do them, I never use my calendar.
It seems to have worked for me although I got some weird error messages:
# mv TouchWizCalendar.apk TouchWizCalendar.old
mv TouchWizCalendar.apk TouchWizCalendar.old
failed on 'TouchWizCalendar.apk' - No such file or directory
# mv TouchWizCalendar.odex TouchWizCalendar.odex.old
mv TouchWizCalendar.odex TouchWizCalendar.odex.old
failed on 'TouchWizCalendar.odex' - No such file or directory
But like I said it seems to be working. Not being able to click the location link in hte Samsung Calendar is just stupid when you can one click to G Maps in the Stock. I can live with the smudge thing too just for that feature.
I'm using Cognition 2.2 BETA 1 btw
Any chance you know of a way to show HTML Calendar events and not just the HTML code?
works as expected. anyone else notice an odd "smudge" at the top of the calendar screen(s)?

Froyo Calendar Questions
Hi All,
With the Froyo calendar, I was hoping a few issues I had with the TW calendar would be resolved. Namely:
1. Reminders don't sync with my Google calendar
2. Can't customize repeating events (say, I have class MWF, I can't do this on the phone, only in Google)
3. Events created on phone for the Google calendar don't sync to my Google calendar
Are these things I can't do with the stock calendar or am I doing something wrong?

The "smudge" or transparent gray box is a issue similar to the 2.1 stock calendar replacement. The 2.1 had a large non-transparent bubble with a "+" sign in the middle of it. Don't know why or how to get rid of it, but at least with 2.2 you can see through it and it doesn't cover the days

I do have the issue of the events created on the phone not syncing back to Google Calendar and I have updated the OP problems section. I can't believe I never realized that problem but I guess I use my phone more. Just to be clear, did you have the new-events-not-syncing issue on the TW calendar as well?
I don't have a problem with Reminders syncing back as long as the event was originally created in Google Calendar and then edited on the phone. As far as customizing repeating events, I'm afraid we are stuck with preset "One-time, Daily, Every weekday, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly" Options.
Nope, with the TW calendar it would sync OK. I don't know why Google can't get their **** together and code the calendar to sync properly. oy.

That may be a deal breaker for some. I for one need click-able links for addresses to launch maps over the new appointment sync from phone to PC, so its worth the trade-off for me. I don't think its Google that is the problem, Samsung changed things when they put the TouchWiz Calendar in and now we are trying to go back and its not working quite right. Thanks for letting everyone know.
If you look at the 'smudge' closely it is a stretched out check box thats unchecked but you can't seem to get rid of it
Simply amazing!!!! This is one of the features I miss from my Droid!!!!
Thank you!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
i get "device not found" error after inputting the first line of code. my SGS is definitely mounted.
i just updated to froyo with kies and had previously replaced the touchwiz calendar with stock eclair calendar. i forgot to put the old touchwiz calendar back before updating to froyo.
now i have no working calendar at all! i tried to install the new touchwiz calendar via root explorer but it keeps saying "calendar not installed."
can anyone help me? i don't care so much about the stock calendar anymore, as i mostly use gemini calendar app now. i just need any calendar to work so that my widgets and events all sync to google calendar.
EDIT: oops, just realized this is the captivate forum. i have an i9000 SGS. don't know how much that changes matters.
Can I just drop the apk in the system /app
I don't think you can. Can't remember for sure though. Give it a try...Just make sure you can undo it if it doesn't work.
Can't create calendar items
Since the update for Froyo and fct reset I have been unable to create a new Calendar item. Every time I try (using both the stock calendar and Android Agenda widget) the Edit Event screen pops up along with the keyboard only to quickly disappear before I can enter any data.
Anyone else seeing this or have any suggestions for me?
I have rooted my phone, and did remove some bloatware by renaming files. However, I restored all of the files and am still having the issue.
it also will not sync with my google calendar at this time, but it seems like that might be a separate issue as I'm not able to log into my calendar on the google site at this tmie either.
Thanks in advance.
Has anyone been able to get the AOSP Calendar running on the Droid 3 running the stock rom? I have been messing around with it today, but with no luck.
So far, I have tried installing the calendar.apk and calendarprovider.apk. Calendar installs fine, but calendarprovider does not. Trying to run the calendar just gives a FC. I have cleared the data, but no help.
The blur calendar has been removed as well as all the blur calendar sync stuff. The only calendar related item in the app directory is the GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
Any suggestions?
As far as I'm aware the AOSP calendar is on the phone.
The calendar the Droid 3 uses is a blurred calendar. Remove blur, and it removes the calendar.
I should be able to install the AOSP apks, but for some reason, it fails every time.
Guys,
Is there any application that would allow me to have a REGULAR Calendar on the X8? I'm tired of the widget from Launcher Pro (which is great don't get me wrong for the eye to see) but I can't add an event since it tells me I have no calendar installed, so is there anyway I can get this matter resolved?
I have an ATT Active running 4.4.2 and I uninstalled my stock calendar thinking I would stop the duplicate notifications. Unfortunately I learned that now my google calendar won't open and I can't sync it. I used TI backup to uninstall and then I restored calendar storage but I can't find my calendar apk to restore (don't know what happened to it). I have searched and downloaded Splanner apk and calendar provider apk's but I can't get the calendar's to open. I'm guessing the apk's I am finding aren't compatible with my phone? Can someone please help me and let me know what I need to reinstall just to get google calendar up and running so it can sync? I really depend on it for work and I'm struggling to keep track of my schedule without it.
Anyone? Really could use some help.

What about the Google Calendar app? I always install Google Calendar from the Play Store, and then use TiBu to uninstall the stock calendar app, I've never had any trouble doing this on several devices
Thank you for the reply. I installed the Google calendar but it won't open and I'll get calendar error messages at random while using the phone. I must have unistalled something else that doesn't allow Google calendar to work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look for?
Little help please. I'm still stuck with no working calendar.
standalone calendar that works?
Somewhat off topic but is at least a basic calender that might work, but may not sync with google calendar.
Calender is one of the things that is not well defined as to what you need for it to work. I'm attempting to get some basic calender functionality without installing gapps framework. I have a TB Cyanogenmod account that may allow Android or Google Calender to work without a Google account?
After trying several calendar apps at f-droid without success, Jorte Calendar seems to work good as a standalone app for a sans gapps system.
Thanks for the reply. Is this calendar my last option? Is there no way, without wiping my phone and starting from scratch, to replace whatever apk's are missing? I would really like to just install what is missing and continue using the phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to get calendar working by replacing the apk's you deleted, we just need to know what apk's you deleted so we can send you the replacements.
Thanks for the quick response. As far as I can tell the apk that I am missing is the calendar apk. Is there a way to compare the apk's that I have compared to what I should have? Thanks again.

Google Calender 5.0 .apk:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxnEA1OTspCUTWRJQ2lIRkpIaEE/view?usp=sharing
Thanks for the apk. Unfortunately I keep having the same problem as before when I downloaded Google calendar. When I try to open calendar I get "Unfortunately calendar has stopped" and I also get the same error message for Exchange services simultaneously. Does this give any clues as to what might be missing?
I had similar issue as well when I was uninstalling stuff. After a couple months of not having a properly functioning calender I tried out Today Calender Pro when it was on sale. It works great. Might be worth a shot.

You could try opening the app details and deleting it's data. That may fix Exchange services at least, but didn't fix google calendar for me. I'm in the same boat as you, just not dependent on syncing with google.
If you have a good recovery option, you can make a backup and try flashing gapps again:
