[Q] Price drop? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has there been any rumblings of Nexus One getting a price drop? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that it's still retailing for the same price as the Nexus S (at least, according to my friend with Android Developer access).
What happened to the G1? Did the price drop on that after the N1 was released?

Would be interested in this as well done since I'm thinking about getting a second n1 for backup purposes...

That is crazy price.
I decided to search the UK eBay site for the Nexus 4. I found a pre-order that has already received two orders:

£370 for the 16GB model? no thx
Yeah, people already started to sell the phones like 10 days ago for crazy prices!
But looking at the offers, there certainly are people who buy them...
Imagine if you had to pay customs + taxes! It would make the price almost double!
I never understood why people pay more than its worth .
It Ticks me off that if these do end up selling out it is going to be due to these greedy scammers figuring out how to buy as many as possible on launch day while guys like me just want one..

It'll be people from a location that it's unavailable buying them. Because they don't have any other choice, really.
Yep, it's very annoying that I'm not able to buy it from the play store..
This is stupid.. the seller don't even have the device in stock but he wants to make extra $$$ when he buying it from Google
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nexus-4-8GB...1012253859?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item1c2ce474a3
Why not cut out the middle man and just order from the Play Store yourself..
Yeah this is bs Google needs to put a limit no one seriously needs 8 phones

Should I buy the nexus 7 or should i wait

hi guys!!!
I was wondering if is better to buy the nexus 7 in the month of March 2013 or wait for the next releases of 2013? (sorry for my English)
Entirely up to you how you spend your money. If there's another device you're looking forward to.. I don't know, wait? Entirely up to you.

there's a rumour saying google and asus will release nexus 7 with more higher resolution screen this year probably in May. so it's up to you.

Thanks guys for your help!!!!
If someone wants to put their opinion, go head that will help me a lot to choose!!!!
As has already been said, it's totally up to you how you spend your money BUT I honestly think that if you wait around for the 'next best thing' you'll always be disappointed.
The Nexus 7 is an amazing device and is even better because of the pretty cheap price. Yes there's always a chance that a new version could be released if you decide to buy one now, but there's no guarantee that it will.
Don't play the waiting game because there is always going to be something better around the corner. It makes sense with non-nexuses because you have to worry about OS upgrades, but with nexuses you know Google will take care of you with OS updates. Plus the nexus is only $200, if Google releases something awesome that you absolutely must have, sell the nexus for 100 on craigslist and by the new one.
Depends on where you stay and how much you are willing to spend though... For me i stay in Singapore so there is no official playstore that sells the nexus 7 i have to wait for ASUS to import it here so the prices are quite high even now. 16GB wifi version averages out at SGD350 and it took months before it reached here. So if i where to wait for the new one then im out of luck .. Very likely that it will reach here only next year == So im not waiting and getting it this weekend Thats my story
I agree that waiting around is useless in most cases but Nexus devices get updated yearly and it is almost time for a new model.
I personally think a higher resolution 7" model will be a waste of resources since the N7 already has such a high DPI. If the current screen is "retina" type where individual pixels aren't visible to the naked eye, then why upgrade further?
The N7 is a fantastic device and I can't recommend any other 7" tablets. Seriously, the N7 is cheap enough at $200 and you can sell it or repurpose it if you ever want to upgrade.
May is several months away and who knows when the actual release date will be. I'd buy one now. At $200, it is better then being without one for who knows how long.

Like others have said, if you always wait for the next device which will be better, you'll always be waiting because every new device will be better.
BUT, since I/O is just 2 months away, I would recommend you wait IF you can live without a tablet for a while. But if you desperately need a tablet now and don't wish to wait, you won't regret getting the current N7. I have it and am very happy with it i.e. won't be upgrading to the newer model.
Its 200 bucks m8. You barely feel it over the budget. ehehe, and to be honest, its a brilliant piece of device, it isnt perfect but believe me when i tell you that its very very close to perfection, and its pretty, slim and accurate (and most of the N7 will agree with me on this one ). That question though is subjective because in the N7 case, Google ordered asus to make a TOP OF THE FOOD-CHAIN device of THE tablet's jungle, with the price of a Jungle Fly lol, (and they got the formula right since its the top seller for tablets atm). Now lets put it another way, obviously Google will order some new piece of tech even more raw than N7, but raw-ness costs money, imagine that a N7 II comes out with an outstanding octa-core? It will not cost 200 i tell you that much.
The more time you waste dueling on the should or should not, the more time you loose with the Nexus 7, go with the odds, N7 isnt the best of THE best only because of the low budget factor.
P.s. As much as i wanted to, i do not work for Google or asus, ehehe.

HTC One or Nexus 5?

So, I have a best buy junk out coming up for my One. This should be happening in the next week or so.
I was told I can get any phone in store that is of equal or lesser value, then get the difference in store credit if lower. So, do I get the Nexus 5 32 gig and take the $250.00ish store credit?? I'm kind of leaning that way, but I have been an HTC fanboi for so damn long that I'm a-scurred! lol
Any thoughts would be appreciated!!
Peace.

Well that would suck... I'll check bb tomorrow and see what they got. 16 gig would be kind of a deal breaker... my 32 gigs gets all full of por... derp... family videos already.
I would just like the fact that I can let my contract go with them and try a different carrier if they piss me off! There is some freedom in knowing you have em' by the balls. lol

what makes you think the camera quality will be worse. Aside from low-light, i don't think the one camera is all that good. Software is pretty good though.

Just read this... that gift card is lookin' good.
Sprint said it will sell a tri-band 4G LTE version of the freshly announced Nexus 5 starting on November 8 for $149.99 with a new two-year contract. Customers interested in the brand new smartphone can pre-order the device today. Meanwhile, T-Mobile will also sell the device (we’re still waiting on pricing information) and Best Buy, Amazon and RadioShack will all sell it unlocked starting at $349.99 for the 16GB model or $399.99 for the 32GB version.

I'm just hoping I can get one off contract, then let mine expire in May. I will miss all the Devs that do great work on our HTC phone. (and you too.) LOL
Don't need to buy on contract
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
From what I read earlier, Sprint will be offering the Nexus 5 for $199 w/ $50 MIR with contract or you can buy it form them for MORE than what you'd pay if you bought directly from Google... Somewhere around $550. If you're taking the contract route it's cheaper, but you get screwed if you buy it from them. I just purchased my Nexus 5 32GB for $438 and may, or may not, be switching to T-Mobile cause I guess I roamed too much?
I'll stay with the ONE and wait for the M8.

My One is available for upgrade today lol
I use my one for everything and it has yet to let me down. Sometimes pictures could be better but the way I look at it, it's a smart phone, not a digital camera. If I want high quality digital photos then I should probably use one of those. What does impress me about the camera though is how good the low light photos turn out. Unmatched. The other thing I feel can't be beat is the front speaker sound quality. Front speakers do make a huge difference! Beats with viper4android makes this phone sound awesome! I've yet to hear a handheld device sound better. Until another phone manufacturer comes out with front facing stereo speakers that sound at least as good as these I'll be sticking with the one series.

Not sure how reliable this is, but in an online chat with Staples yesterday, I was told they would be selling it also. No word on pricing, but I will probably get one when they get in stock (company account at Staples = easier to justify and write off). For the time being, I plan on getting a TMOB prepaid SIM and using it as a second phone line. If I like it enough, it may replace my One.
sorry, double-post

They did the same thing with the HTC One, $200.00 over regular off contract price, but I just walked in and said I need a price match to Amazon.com and they said "ok no problem"

Is it me? But it seems the price is too good to be true?

The 16GB Samsung Galaxy S IV is $649. The 32GB Nexus 5 is $399.
What am I missing? This deal seems to good to be true?
Thinking of selling my 32GB S IV on ebay today!!

It's not that it's too good to be true, it's that $649 is a ridiculous price to begin with.
You just don't understand the crazy markup companies have to make profit.

Sell your S IV and buy a Nexus 5 (if you can find one in stock). I'm reasonably certain that you won't be disappointed. I've had my Nexus 4 for almost a year and it's been a great phone. Looking forward to switching to the N5 when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

True. I returned my iPhone 5S yesterday and ordered the Nexus 5.
Unless you stick to the upgrading every 2-years at subsided pricing, Google has the best pricing as far as I see.
Let's just be happy there was no 8GB version. Otherwise the 8GB would have probably started at $349 and bumped the other 2 up by $50.
The Nexus device is not really meant to compete with the S3 or G2 at this point. The Nexus device is really meant for devs to create on pure Android and Google is willing to eat profits for that. In the meantime all the non-devs and phone geeks get to enjoy a great phone at a great price.
If Google wanted to sell this phone like there was no tomorrow and compete with Samsung you would have seen some crazy marketing done by them prior to the launch. Instead, there wasn't even a peep out of Google and it silently just showed up for sale. To me that says they are not trying to take over the world with device sales.
I think their probably more interested in making profits on devices through Motorola. These are just some of my opinions and really doesn't represent anything more then that. Only Google really knows the answer to the who, what, where, when and why's. Just accept you are getting a great phone at a great price.
you know it only cost Samsung 240 dollars to build 3? and look at the price of that. ridiculous. I am grateful for the nexus line of phones. even with some compromises . I am done spending that kind of money on phones anymore

I was at best buy other day and asked the rep in the mobile section and he told me that they would not carry the n6, but he could have been wrong or stalling.
I called best buy after seeing an article that they would carry the nexus 6 and they told me that they were not going to carry it.
Why don't you just get it directly from AT&T website and have it delivered to you? Inventory for the n6 is very weak meeting it's demand right now.

Exactly what he said lol I'm glad no one where I live actually knows about the Nexus 6 or wants one here, So I was able to wait 2 - 3 days and my Local T-Mobile Store still had it for sale.
The problem with BB is that they seem to charge an extra $50 for the phone if you want to pay MSRP for it. When I was looking at the Note 4, they were $50 more than Verizon and refused to price match. Maybe they do that to make up for the no restocking fee.....

Ya, you have to get it from the ATT website as the stores were ordered to send back their shipments. Even if you do get it from ATT you will get some "extras" that you probably don't want from them.

The "extras" can be removed, in my opinion, just get whatever method gets you the phone fastest as you possibly can.
