[Q] HTC Apps Notes Problem - HD7 General

So I recently updated the HTC App Notes via the Marketplace and now I can't open it. Whenever I try to, it goes to a black screen, then back to the home screen. I wrote down some pretty important notes in there and would love to either have them back or get the app to start working again without losing any data.
Any suggestions?

Turn your phone off, then back on again.
And a word of caution - it's generally a bad idea to use apps which store your data only on the phone. Apps like the pre-installed OneNote will sync your notes to the web, so you'll never lose them.

Yeah restarting it was one of the first things I tried, but no luck.
And yeah, I guess you're right I'll take a look at OneNote after I get my data from Notes lol
Anyways, any other suggestions?

You can try uninstalling the app and re-installing it, but you may well lose your data if you do so.

Losing the data is what I'm afraid of :/

Why did you start using an app that has no way of backing up?

Dunno, I guess it was pretty and it was an official htc app? Lol it was my first time using windows phone 7 and I guess I just used what I found first time around

I did, i finally got a homescreen app on there after playing with it someone called me and i used the option to message with out picking up, shortly after i got someone to text me a hyper link witch then loaded the browser and found a few homescreen apps, luckly this phone will have you go to setings to let you install none market apps so i got it working.

Can't open contacts

Anyone have this issue or know how to fix it. When I try to open up contacts it will send me back to the home screen and says "aab initializing" Never seen this before in any android so I'm kinda lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind got it. It was caused by freezing the att apps.

Which AT&T app did you need to unfreeze to get contacts to work again?
I'm betting it was contact sync. I used to close that service all the time cause I didn't care if my contacts were being backed up by ATT. Turns out it was controlling my entire contact app.
Yeah it was the contact sync, if I remember correctly. Been so long since I was on the stock rom can't say for sure.

Market issues really getting old.

Am i the only person who is getting sick of the market? It constantly is screwing up and wont load screens. Specifically tonight every time i go to update Superuser i get as far as where I can press Update and then the next screen wont load. I can go to Titanium Pro key but when I go to download it, I cant go to tge accept and install screen, once again it won't load. This happened non root and even while rooted.

YES.
And I like to call that screen the "white screen of death" - seriously annoying.

I have not seen this problem. In MD.

thank you. I am NOT alone. stuff like this makes me feel like im going crazy haha
Here are two things you can try:
1. Manage Applications/All/Market/Clear Data - you will have to "Accept the Google terms again and then it will take a minute or so for the market to sync back up with your Gmail account.
2. Manage Applications/All/Market - if the market page has a button that says something like "undo/uninstall updates" hit that.
Good luck.

I've done both. It's not just this phone. My buddy's CM7 incredible has the same market issues.

I was a victim of this white screen of death all day yesterday..... only thing that solved it temporarily was rebooting the phone...
i'm having the same issues exactly
Mine is strictly trying to use wifi with the marketplace though. works fine over 3G for the most part. I too have tried all the voodoo fixes like clearing data, blah blah none of it works either

Deleting Bloat. Everything reinstalled on reboot.

Deleting bloat has been a task. Using Titanium Backup to backup and uninstall bloat. Upon restarting the phone, almost everything that was uninstalled magically reappears. Not re-installs, it is just magically back in the app drawer. Its almost like rebooting restores a system backup of some kind. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I am currently using Titanium Backup's "freeze" feature, and it is keeping the bloat at bay, but deleting it would be better because I could use the phone's space for something else.
I guess you are using stock. Try installing this https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Team+Trickster&hl=en
Then reboot after deleting them.

Thats the one I thought it was. I will give it a swing, but it says that it is not compatible with 4.3, and thats what the phone has on it. I'll take a swing though!

[Q] Data Usage Icon Won't Go Away ***HELP***

So I've been loving this device so far but the only complaint I have is that every time my phone needs to use mobile data, receive or place a phone call, or send or receive a text message, the "Data usage is running" icon will appear for literally less than a split second and it's annoying the hell out of me. I've managed to record a slow motion video on my S4 in order to capture a screen shot of the icon appearing in my notification bar which I've attached below. It looks like I'm able to stop it from constantly appearing but the darn thing isn't around long enough for me to click on it...ANY help? I have tried to go into my application manager and disable it that way but no dice. Also, not rooted and completely stock.
The text on the icon reads "Data usage is running - Touch for more information or to stop ...."
If you go to settings, wireless & networks, data usage. Do you have a checkmark next to alert me about data usage. Is yes, remove it.

Yeah, unfortuantely I had already tried that and it didn't work... Have you experienced the same issue? It's gotten to the point where I'll deliberately send my device a text message from another phone and try to tap the icon in my pull down but it just disappears so damn quick. I know it isn't really that big of a deal but I'm sure I can't be the only one on here who nit picks their phone.

I didn't have that issue, even when my phone wasn't rooted. Is your phone rooted? If so what rom is it running?
Sent from my lair.
Nope, totally stock. I've debated taking it in to Sprint but I know all they'll do is perform a soft reset (which I've done) and hand me back the phone.
Just got off the phone with HTC, That was essentially useless. Gonna take it in to Sprint tomorrow and cross my fingers for something good.

Yes, this is strange. If you are still within 14, sprint will exchange without any problems. Just make sure to use words factory defect.

I don't mean to resurrect this thread, but I am experiencing the same behavior. It is on my Verizon M8. I was thinking about used Xposed to block the notification, but I'd rather determine the root cause and disable it there instead. Any reports on your findings?
Alas, no. I've just learned to live with it...

I am not sure as well. Like I said, I am rooted so for now I am just using an Xposed module to block the notification. It works great.
Think you could give a short tutorial? I'll probably root tomorrow. I just can't stand it anymore.

Yes, I am at work currently. I will give you a quick guide tonight when I get home.
After installing the Xposed framework, I installed the Notify Clean Module.
View attachment 2746245
After that is running and ready, you need to trigger the notification so it can log it. Once that is done it will be listed as below.

Thank you!
Freezing the app appeared to have negative affects on my data connection. WIll keep trying some other things to see if we can actually fix the issue and not just hide it.

I'm curious if we use a different app rather than hangouts to send the SMS if it will go away.

I suspect it would as it happens with more than just messaging. Also happens when ending a call.
