Hi My HTC Wildfire won't charge when it is off, I just get a black (lit) screen and orange led and if i take the power lead out it stays the same till i take the battery out. I'm using clockworkmod recovery, official android 2.2, and HCDR.Kernel v4.1.
Can anyone help me my battery life is not good and i want to use the battery state reset thing but I need to charge the phone when its off.
You need to search forum before making such threads! It is a glitch in clock work mod. If you want it back to normal you need to flash ruu. But be aware this will un root

The phone still charging even if the led still red.
The you can boot your phone by using volume down + trackpad + power.

Yesterday when I got back home from work, I pulled out my phone only to find out it was dead. No light, no nothing. I thought it ran out of battery so I hooked it up to the charger for 5 mins but nothing happened (the led light didn't even turn on). So I decided to pry my phone open and pull out the battery (I hate doing this because the battery cover is fragile) and the phone booted up and acted normal again. I'm just wondering what happened. Should I be worried or something?

Well i can relate... but with my Xperia X10 (still can't use the Incredible S as my daily phone yet).
The X10 became dead, i hooked it to the charger, did absolutely NOTHING. Figured what gives, it's not charging so i decided to pull the battery and insert it back in while connected to the charger and there ya go, it came back to life.
No, I'm not using a custom rom. No overlocking or mods whatsoever. Just gingerbread updated through OTA then I did a factory wipe after. I'm wondering if it's a hardware problem or something or it's just a software mishap?
This happened to me once with my xperia mini.... I did some research and found that it happens coz of abuse of RAM.....some program is using the RAM continuously so we need to reboot the device and the only way is battery pull....

OR it could also be that the phone was completely out of charge.
it does happen sometimes when the phone is used till the battery completely drains out.
Once you connect the charger, it can take between 2-10 mins to start up again.
Maybe there is a minimum charge the phone needs to even start or show the charging led...
its good though your phone is back!
Now I experiencing a major problem
the phone battery died on me earlier tonight, I tried one time to see if i could of get it on but no juice
Now I get home it's not coming on at all
I have it plugged in one time was able to get to the boot loader screen bow nothing
and when i touch the buttons in front I feel the phone vibrating but nothing comes on not even the charging light
what do you think is the problem?

Nope - you'll need to charge it externally, then you need to get new recovery. CWM doesn't support off mode charging, so if your battery dies, you have to charge it out of the phone. Go to ATT store and ask them if they can charge it for you for a while
Just a question what is off mode charging?

Ok guys I think I got it.
What I did was
Take out the battery
Put the batter back in
Plug in the charger
When the light come on hold down Vol down and power button
When phone boots to bootlader choose recovery
you will get white HTC creen, leave phone plugged in for a while 30 mins or so
then while leaving charger plugged in attempt to power phone pn
phone should boot regularly
Finally.... don't let phone battery run down or get external charger or change to twrp as one person suggested.
I'm just glad that I was able to get my phone booted, as I live outside the US can't go to an ATT store and HTC phones aren't the most popular here.
I'm wondering if I should order a battery from Amazon just in case :silly:
Is this possible? I can get it to boot into hboot, then remove the batt. With charger plugged in and it still functions. When I try to boot from recovery from hboot, it switches to HTC screen then shuts off. Can't be a hardware issue since it boots to hboot with no batt. Would be cool feature if I could boot with no batt.

Going into the bootloader doesnt require that much power... Hence why it works with no battery. but once you start going into recovery it starts loading more and more stuff requiring more battery and having no battery and only being pluged in isnt enough juice for it
There is a hack I did with my droid 2 where you get a usb cord and put the wires on the terminals of the phone to give it power and it will boot up I forget what it was but I think I bricked it with no battery power and had to do that to boot to bootloader and flash the file to return it to stock I would Google that and try it out

I'm gonna use this phone as a media server when I get my new one. Didn't want to leave in the battery plugged in all the time. I check it out. And the battery provides the less than the charger. If you use a phone while charging, it charges. Which means charger is outputing more than batt.

Hi Xda members..i need some help here..
i was using ARHD 11 and bulletproof kernel..
the phone is fine yesterday and i could even play games with it..
but when i woke up to charge the phone i notice the phone is not responding and its off..
i tried charging it and phone Led is blinking..
the phone wont boot even i tried volume down + power
i tried to use the bright light method but it doesnt work too..
So right now how can i boot into booloader?
Sounds like a you drained your battery completely, I think HTC kernels are coded to turn off a 2-3%. It's not good practice to let you battery discharge all the way, try to plug it in around 15%. You will need to return your phone to stock and return it. Remember When FASTBOOT is ticked in your settings you phone is still awake when you power off. There for draining your battery. So when your untick fastboot.

viper 6.1 + poondog kernel
latest firmware
oryginal cable and charger x2
like in topic, when i turn off device and charger is inside (or i will plug in charger) my one in same time freeze with red led, there is only charging animation also frozen. when i disconnect charger nothing happens, led is still red and frozen animation is also still there all what i can do is hold power 20 sec and after reboot device will boot up
i tested 3 firmware from 3 topics i also did factory reset
when im charing when device is on everything is ok so i really have no idea ;/ ( i prefer to charge when htc one is off, its faster)
as i was saying on irc, try a different rom or go back to stock, see if that happens. from what I am reading, solid red = something's wrong....
oh, have you tried pulling the battery? sometimes that is miraculous too
Do you have twrp 2.7 installed? If you do flash 2.6.3.3 instead
