[Bell] Can I use a 2.1 CSC with for JPY? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a JH2 bell CSC file that I wish to flash to my JPY rom. Is this possible or do I need a 2.2 CSC file?
Can I just use Odin and flash only the CSC?

I did something similiar, info will tell you CSC "unknown" but my phone still worked!

Don't need to. In the past u need correct csc to get correct 3g frequency. Not necessary anymore. If u check phone info it will say csc unknown as it doesn't install it when u get that error. Recommend you go back and flash a complete jpy and change the csc to xeu after reboot . A missing csc can Cause all sorts of problems.

So how do I change this back? Do I just do the *#272*IMEI# and choose my product code, or do I have to flash a csc through ODIN?

Need to reflash entire jpy again with csc. Then put in code to change to xeu. Then flash modem separately

[Q] Restoring product Code

Does anyone know a proven method to restore my product code through the nv_data file in the efs folder? Like many who flashed to Froyo on here, My code is showing as HKKOR and should be back to stock HKOPS (Australia). Or any other way if possible.
If not, will I be able to update to the official Froyo through Kies when it's released?
If you are with Froyo, Flash multi CSC JP3 through ODIN and select your area will set your Product Code. It worked for me.
use root explorer and delete both your nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 files and reboot.
correct product codes will be recreated from your .bak files.
kies checks your product code before upgrading, but there are patcher programs to take care of that, if you want.
both topics have been discussed to death previously, I kindly suggest you do some search before posting next time.
That sounds like it might work. Do you have a link for that JP3 Rom? and does it have to be JP3.
I had just flashed back to a clean JG4 just need to restore that product code.
Sorry, I just see that you're from Australia requiring OPS csc file.
JP3 csc file will not include Australia.
You have to find a multi csc file that include your area code.
Multi csc file ask to choose area amongst several, then when choosing correct area it set this area into the product code.
Hey guys, please, i have one btw question:
I have unbranded and unlocked product code I9000HKDDBT (Debitel,Germany), but i want put firmware XFJP7 with Multi CSC XXJP7 wich have Croatian APN settings...Can I make this without any dangerous ? At this moment im on firmware in my signature wich is not for my prod.code too, but fw work like a charm, and with staying my original product code in nv_data.bin without restoring (original from stock firmware).
Or: Can I put only Multi CSC XXJP7 with Odin (without PDA and MODEM files) on my presents (XWJP6) firmware?
P.S. What i must care, i will not to stay without Download and Recovery Mods (3-comb buttons) ?
Forwarding thanks on answer
Regards

I know, badly. I'm just trying to prepare for the official froyo when it hits. I have a feeling it will be a disappointment, then I'll be back to a rooted JPO or something. I was still on JPK

[Q] Update only CSC in DOc's Rom - How To??

Hello there guys. I have the following query. I have DDJP6 Froyo with DamianTGO kernel which includes ClockwordModRecovery inbuilt. Now i want to try XWJS3 Doc's Rom which i downloaded from Romkitchen.org . The issue is that the Doc's Rom downloaded with custom CSC and Modem(both India Specific) has an older CSC of DDJG4, which the stock Froyo CSC for India is DDJP5. Now if flashing Doc's Rom will bring the CSC back to JG4(which i think it will,, since it's the WIPE version), how do i update JUST the CSC back to JP5?? I do have the JP5 CSC file as a .tar file. Can i update just that using ODIN without re-partition and leaving Phone and Modem blank?? Or update it through CWM? But how do i make a tar file CWM zip compatible??
If the query, or anything similar has already been posted and answered, kindly give me the link for the same. Thanking you all in advance
Just flash the csc bit through ODIN and leave everything else empty.
Thank You Very Much

Flashing CSC file

Hi,
I was just wondering something. I'm going to install Gingerbread through KIES by spoofing NEE.
I was wondering if its possible to flash my own regions csc file later in the future with ODIN, when the Gingerbread firmware gets released here?
Or do I have to reflash the firmware entirely to get my own region back?
Your best bet would be to download one of the 3 file ODIN packages and flash using that but with the JVK Multi CSC, that's what I used to get XEU product code. Not sure what to do about any other regions but I know the JVK CSC contains multiple product codes.
Never tried simply flashing a CSC file, I should imagine if you did and it worked it would force a factory wipe anyway
Odin? You can use an update.zip via CWM and install your regional CSC via SGS Toolbox (for exemple).
Ok cool, thanks for the info.
But remember that flashing a new csc will wipe your data, so backup your apps with titanium first.

Are you sure with 2.3.3?
Yesterday, I've changed my CSC (Criskelo Custom Rom) and after reboot, no data wipe... Strange, isn't?

[Q] Is JVQ + BMC CSC + JL2/KC1 modem possible?

I'd like to go with JVQ, but I'd also like to keep the BMC csc and JL2 or KC1 modem. From the info I found, I don't think there would be any problems with the JL2 or KC1 modem with JVQ, but I'm not so sure if the BMC csc would be possible. I think I've seen somewhere that you can't mix Froyo csc with a Gingerbread rom... Is that info correct?
If it's possible, how would be the best way to achieve this? First install the stock JVQ and JL2/KC1 modem first, and then change the CSC with one of the apps available on the Market?
Im re-flashing JVQ+JL2 modem right now. I am going to try and change back to BMC later today. I will let you know if it works!
I don't even know what BMC is....
However I'm on JVQ with KC1 modem, and semaphore kernel. Zero issues. It's running great!

BMC = Bell Mobility Canada, it is the product code. If you load up Samsung Apps, you will get the Korean apps, as your phone has a product code (CSC) of KOR.
never worried about the csc but I have not been able to add bmc to any of the later 2.3 firmwares (jvk, jvo, jvp or jvr) which I found all need the matching csc to install corectly.
For me, jvr is so much better than any other stock firmware that losing bmc was a small issue.
Using the kc1 modem has not been an issue with any of the firmwares and it is still the best modem for Bell users until there is an official update which has been promised for "mid-summer' but who knows.
Thanks for your help guys... That confirms what I thought... I think I'll go for it anyway

Just a small update...
KG3 stock firmware has just been released. I used Odin to flash the CSC from this KG3 firmware and use "Boite à outils SGS" from the market to change the CSC from KOR to BMC... All is well. I also just flashed the modem from KG3. Let's see how this goes. I'm on Darky's XXJVR BASE R2 for PDA and I'm not too impressed with it. Even after factory reset, cache and Dalvik cache reset, i'm having issues with stock Browser. Loading pages is very fast, but zooming and moving around a page is laggy as hell for some reasons... I might try stock JVR PDA instead...
just get teh browser fix??

[Q] CSC keeps reverting to KOR

Any one has a suggestion as to why my phone keeps reverting to KOR csc?
I have tried flashing with both m-odin and PC Odin different csc's.
No matter what I do it ends up that Kies say firmware upgrade not supported.
PDA:LC1 / PHONE:LB2 / CSC:LB3 (KOR)
if you have flashed a multi csc file then you need to change the csc manually, flashing doesnt normally change it, the kor code is what mine defaults to

OK how do I do that then
But I think the issue I'm having is because I flashed the LPF bootloader. I have reverted back to STOCK LC1. I have search for ages but dont seem to be able to find a GB rom with old bootloaders. (this be completely wrong)
download csc changer fromthe mrkt, it sys it is for the galaxy s and s2 but works on the note, or google the code for changing it
here is how you manually change it
*#272*your IMEI number # then choose the one you want then tap install CAUTION IT WILL DO A FACTORY RESET
