Final/official froyo has not been released yet by Samsung. All firmwares including JPK you use are leaked/internal releases.
For firmware differences, you can check other posts around here. In other words use search.
Moved to Q&A as not development

are you sure froyo has been released for your specific phone/carrier? Froyo comes out for different countries at different times, so depending on where you are you might not be at 2.2 yet. When you plug your phone into your computer and connect via kies does it say there is an update available? If not then you are most likely at the latest ROM for your area.
Searched abt this in google.
Froyo Released for india.
When I run firmware update in kies,it shows Firmware details, "upgrade" button is disabled and Text "This firmware can't be installed on your device.

Contact the network or Samsung service centre .
Or take the other route and flash your own firmware .
Read posts first pages general first .
Flashing your own firmware will void your warranty may brick your phone .So as its not your phone i would not .##

Also make sure you are running the latest version of Kies
I will that and tell u.

Flash the official Indian Froyo firmware (DDJP6) yourself using ODIN... There's information about that all over these forums.
does anyone know how to root galaxy s gingerbread ?
yes, some of us know this ...
"search" is your friend ... check out the general thread and FAQ
Wonder if it'd be feasable to ban users who blatantly didn't bother to read the thread they installed from or use the search button?
No, this forum has been built on patience, and should satay like that.

Plant it in good soil, water it daily and give it lots of love....soon it will root and grow and flourish and before you know it your harvest of fresh smartphones will be burned to preserve the market price of Galaxy S handsets.

If it is not released specifically for GT-P1000, NO you can't. We have MIUI.us ported to GT-P1000 in this forum check out the following:
GB MIUI for GT-P1000 (Last released was september 2011, which should be quite stable for GB release.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224147
ICS MIUI for GT-P1000 (Not recommended for it is an ALPHA release and no updates/supports since Jan 2012 when ICS was still unstable)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460177
if you want a stable, nice and cool ICS, check out the AOKP-SGT7 ICS here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
Note: Please do your own research when you are deciding to install these ROMs above. I will not be responsible for these recommendation if you break your device, or if you are unhappy with what you got from it.

You'll have to ask Samsung for that.
most big mobile manufacturers go through lengths to roll out new phones with new OS
so end of the day it is pointless for them to roll out a release of a new OS for an old phone
and yes i mean old phone
the S3 mini is now technically an old phone by normal tech standards
so don't get your hopes up that samsung will release a 4.2 version for this phone
your best bet is to help the dev guys here in modding a 4.2 ROM for this phone
quick google search also reveals the below
http://www.androidauthority.com/android-4-1-vs-android-4-2-jelly-bean-149740/
so all in all some of the new stuff that comes with 4.2 can be ported onto our current 4.1.2 ROM
AW: android 4,2
I think there will be an update. Samblog. de says that the s3 mini will get an update on android 4.2.2. Its from an insider, not official. Article is in german.
