Use search
There's plenty of 2.2.1 roms in the dev section, look there.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of people who are new to forum and ask for some guidance. Fortunately, someone has already written up a very detailed and easy to follow reference guide on the core topics to get you started. It's one of the stickied threads in this forum.

You'll get a LOT more support by reading up FIRST and then asking some specific questions that aren't already covered or are unique to you.

hi..
i just got my wing yesterday and i want to flash a new rom on it.
i was trying to learn as much as possible before my phone got here, but i still dont know too much
ok, so what is a SPL?? i saw one rom that said if you dont have an SPL of 4.0 or something like that dont use it.. i have a clue as to what that is or what mine is
what is overclocking?? do I NEED to do it??
what is the easiest (or has the easiest UI) reg editor??
are their any extra programs i might need to flash a rom on my phone??
This is the wrong forum to post your questions.
It's only about ROM developing.
The Herald mobile 6 forum would be the appropriate place to go.
There you will find all the information you need.
The forum moderator papamopps collected all the important stuff for beginners
and unexperienced users coming to the Herald/Wing forum.
Here is the compendium:
[UPDATED] >> !! - ALL Important LINKS - !! < > !! Noobs and ALL read carefully !! <<

hello and thank you for moving my thread to the appropriate forum
i read that whole thread that was posted above with all the links first before i posted and it didnt answer any of the questions I asked.
so can anyone please answer them for me? Thank you
This is my first time doing this. I want to know how to root my phone so I can get android 2.2. I would also like to know which one is the best rom that will make my phone better overall. Any help will be gladly appreciated. If you want also send me links on how to do
the first thing you wanna do it learn to search, then read the stickies that are posted at the top. then try asking in the correct forums like the Q&A for example, try there first, this is a thread for DEVELOPING not asking questions that have been answered 12567357/9718497749189 times
http://romrepo.info/wiki has a writeup on rooting and flashing AOSPGB 0.2.0 Gingerbread
hi everyone, i am interested in rooting my nexus one, but in fear of bricking it, i preferr asking help to the forums.
What do i do first?
What rom is the best rom for my use?
(i mainly use it for gaming, wifi browsing and as mp3)
I've read that the cyanogenmod is a very good rom. Why?
There are guides for this ALL OVER this forum. Read them. I'm sorry if I'm being short but, to open a new thread for this when there are tons of guides and the wiki is not good form.

There are instructions everywhere on how to flash it. Also, thats an old version, the new KJ3 released today
step 1. dont post questions in dev forum
step 2. ???
step 3. profit
I'll get straight to the point....
Despite stickys and forum announcements most of us are still finding ourselves becoming terribly, terribly vexed at the amount of [Q]'s cluttering the dev section...
Therefore, from now on, if you do not follow the rules outlined below, you will be infracted. Break them again and you may find yourself unable to post anything at all on any forum!!
[Q]Surely thats a bit harsh aint it??
[A]Not really....
We've tried to be nice about it but that clearly doesnt work.
If you cannot read and abide by the simple rules in this sticky then I dont know how you're going to manage to hack your device without running into trouble.
The Dev section is NOT for asking questions.....
The Dev section is NOT for general topics..........
All threads posted MUST be prefixed with a description of the thread, [ROM] / [Kernel] etc etc.....*
*(Not planning on being particuarly strict on this. You guys (the devs), know how to title a thread.... just a pointer for new devs.)
Basically, unless your thread is to actually release something or discuss something of a very technical and n00b unfriendly nature, it doesnt belong here!
Pretty simple really.....
If you see something that shouldnt be here then PM me....
I will try to check in as reguarly as I can but I have a few sections to keep an eye on and believe it or not, a life outside XDA
Yes thats right, there is life outside XDA

This is a direct quote from the sticky at the top of this forum. Read around before you post. This would have been received much better in the Q&A Forum. Because its a question. And nowhere close to a development.
Thread locked. xCRZYx, post your question in the Question and Answer forum. This is development only.
Hi, I have just got a galaxy note. I live in india and the kernel version is DDLB2. This is as i understand it, not directly rootable. Could someone, please explain in very simple language what i have to do to root it and get CWM. Im sorry but i just did not understand all the mass of info on this page (no offense, dr.ketan). Im seriously frustrated with the tons of techniques. I just need a very simple straightforward guide. Tks, all.

Did you miss [url-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360]this thread[/url]? There is a lot of information contained in the stickies, it is your responsibility to do your own research. Read, read, read, understand, then do whatever you want to do with your phone.
And questions never belong in Development, they belong in Q&A, where this was moved.
