[Q] How can i save my text messages to my sd? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to save my text messages and call history before i flash my phone with a new ROM?

I use SMS backup and restore from the market. Its free and works really well for saving SMS and timestamps etc. It doesnt backup your MMS though.

I just use titanium backup, and restore the data for the system storage files (they're highlighted in green), haven't had any issues so far

It's not free but Sprite Backup is very good.
It's able to painlessly save and restore all messaging settings including preserving threaded SMS conversations.

Regardless of all efforts to remove my phantom sms (manilla showing 1 sms recieved even though there isnt any) its still there...
Things ive tried :
1. SK Tools remove all messages, cache.... all
2. delete manually from inbox, all sent and recieved sms, mms, emails
3. pim manager, to backup and restore, setting to overwrite all

Pim Backup problem with sms

How to backup and restore picture counter and texts?

How do I restore or set the camera's picture count after a hard reset/flash? It otherwise starts back at zero, it's annoying.
I don't know if Sprite Backup is capable of doing this, but I'm not about to restore settings between different ROMs. That just sounds like a bad idea.
On that note, I did a custom Sprite Backup deselecting all settings and making sure stuff like contacts and notes were kept. However, I didn't see anything in particular about text messages... and they were not restored after the flash. Are text messages locatable within Total Commander (for future backups)?

Messaging - Save to SD - restore?

Good morning,
In the stock messaging app there is the option to in general settings to save to SD (other choice is internal) Where does this save? I can't find any messages. This is not a big issue but I'm looking for a gap of messages where I accidentally let the smart cleaning smart clean my sms backup app and I did not realize it...
Not rooted.
Thanks,
Patrick
