[Q] Nook Remote (in reverse) - Nook Color General

Is there an application that would allow you to login to your NC and take control of it remotely, like remote desktop or logmein?

Remote access pc TO gtab?

Does anyone know of any apps that you can remote into the gtab from another pc? like for instance with logmein you can remote from you gtab or from a computer to another computer and control the screen remotely. Wondering if anyone has found any app that can do that but from Computer TO gtab. Like control the gtab screens with your computer.
or even if someone knows of anything that can be used as a remote to control the songs playing or the volume on the gtab from say your phone or computer.
I know there is a program called webkey that i've used to control my droid from my pc not sure if that would work ill give it a try tonight on the gtab.
There's also Paw Server, if you can get that from Market.
If you just want to control music, there's a Gmote app. It's not a full on RDP type thing, but gives you controls for playing media that's on the Android device.
Jim
P.S. I would think that Webkey, that you mentioned, would also work.

Ill have to look into Paw Server, i know of gmote i use that all the time to control the music on my computer via my droid. I try my best not to store music directly on my gtab since the memory isnt too too big trying to save some room and there and not clog it up, but it would be awesome if i could control the songs playing say on pandora from my phone.

[Q] Casting Photo Slideshow with Music?

Hey all,
Other than the Tasker/Autocast solution is any one aware of an solution that can cast a photo slideshow (ideally either from device or a media server and/or SMB share) whilst simultaneously casting a music playlist (again from device or a media server and/or SMB share).
I use another automation app and don't really want to go down the line of installing and learning Tasker just for this one use scenario. But I'd love to be able to have picture slideshows with music on the big screen.
Thanks.... :fingers-crossed:
Well I've found one other app that does this - CastonTV - but limited to media on device and a single music track. Not great.

Q: any chance of streaming from local pc but use my phone to control?

There have been many great apps to stream local media on PC/laptop to chromecast. But what if the PC is not in the same room with your TV?
I have got a laptop upfloor connected to the network with cable (can connect to wifi if necessary), so I don't want to carry it everytime I want to cast something, or going upstairs to pause and resume playback. Is either one of the following scenario achievable?
1. run some kind of server on my laptop so I can access the media using my phone, then I use my phone to cast media(local on laptop) to chromecast.
2. cast the media from laptop with chrome browser, but then use my android phone to do simple playback control, e.g. pause, resume, fast forward the video.
Any chance a combination of server + app can do that?
Check videostream extension for chrome and videostream app to ocntrol playback
Plex is great for this too
There are 999 thousand ways to do this
I prefer using BubbleUPnP. Just google it.
I am using XBMC media server on my pc and Yatse as a remote control for xbmc on my phone. This setup supports among others Chromecast.

[Any platform with Java] Turn your Chromecast into an UPnP/DLNA renderer

The latest version of BubbleUPnP Server adds the ability to turn any Google Cast device into an UPnP/DLNA renderer to which you can play to using any UPnP/DLNA app controller on desktop OS and mobile.
It's more targeted for use with Desktop OS programs as they almost never have direct Google Cast support.
For example:
- foobar2000 (with foo_out_upnp or foo_upnp)
- JRiver Media Center
- Windows Media Player and 'Play To' (Windows 7/8) or 'Cast to Device' (Windows 10) context menu in Explorer
- ... and much more!
Setup is as simple as:
- install BubbleUPnP Server
- in the web config, go to the 'Media Renderers' page
- select your Google Device
- tick the 'Create DLNA renderer' box
- start your favorite program wih UPnP/DLNA AV support, select the Chromecast as a DLNA device and play media
Details on setup and capabilities
.
Great Job! Something Google should have done for the CCast from the get go!
