i broke the battery hinge inside legend! - Legend Accessories

i have literally looked everywhere for this part. can't seem to locate it in any of the repair parts store. has anyone seen it anywhere?

am i the only one who broke this battery hinge? =(

I broke mine.. I also had a problem with my touchscreen, so in sent it in for repair. Both parts were replaced.
I guess you might find it on ebay too..

I did try eBay with no luck =(

Why are back and front cover listed for Legend since its a unibody phone? -htcrepairparts

Hello,
I have the same problem too.
German Ebay helped me: German Ebay -> search for "HTC Legend Cover Gehäuse Rück" (Sorry, I am not allowed to post a link)
You get whoole middle part with hinge, which was broken.
Maybe you can get same part also in other countries or Chine.

I'm going to drag this thread up.
Did anyone go about replacing it? If so did you do it the slow and painful way (Taking the whole phone apart and replacing the whole chassis) or the quick, but risky way (just taking the hinge off the part and installing that to the original chassis, risk of breaking it though :\)
I'd really appreciate if you could let me know

Moving couch = Broken Tilt

I'm assuming I smashed my At&t tilt or something, there is no cracks on the screen or anything, but the pic below shows the display I get. I'll have the phone for about a year in about 2 weeks. Anyone have an idea as to how much At&t or HTC will charge to fix this or am I better off buying a new phone? Or any ideas as to what could be broken and how it can be fixed? It doesn't allow me to do a hard reset. Thanks
well i don't know if warranty will cover it or not but you are still under your one year warranty so you could try to get a replacement. Its hard to say what could be causing it. You can check out mike channon's articles on disassembling a kaiser.
Good luck.

Well to my trained eye, it looks as though you have actually cracked the lcd screen. This damage isnt generally covered by any manufacturers standard warranty. Unless you purchased an extra warranty including accidental damage, I think its up to you to repair yourself unless you want to spend 400USD + for the repair. Taking it apart isnt terribly difficult and I have seen links to lcd screens posted all over for no more than 100USD. Check Ebay also.

I don't see a crack in the screen. Can there still be a crack in it that isn't visible or not noticeable until you take it apart? If that's the case I'll either buy a new screen or just buy a new phone on ebay for 200bux. Also anyone have any recommended sites on how to replace the screen?
This raises a great question for me. i work in a clean room/static sensative environment and repair and calibrate many different types of electronics (mostly signal generators & spectrum analyzers). I was wondering if anyone here has actually attempted to replace a LCD screen with success. And if so, how complicated the process was. I have downloaded the schematical drawings and have found replacement parts for the kaiser online for extremely cheap. i will post the site as soon as i find it again.
I did a screen replacement on a Wizard, and it wasn't that difficult. just make sure you don't break anything while trying to pry small pieces off to get to the screen.

Generally you will NOT see a physical crack on the surface. The surface is actually JUST a digitizer ( a separate piece which is built into or ontop of your LCD for input purposes ). The digitizer is basically your touch screen portion of the LCD. What is actually cracked is the thin film below that which contains all of the liquid crystals.
As far as the replacement goes, I believe it is Michael Channon who has the step by step instructions on how to disassemble and replace the LCD. It isnt a hard task from what I can tell. I had taken my hermes ( Tytan ) apart so many times that i could do it in my sleep. Its not a terribly difficult process.
Here is Michaels Guide
Its not in English but its not hard to follow the pictures. He has done a great job at documenting the procedure.
If you are a bit scared to try it yourself, have a geeky friend do it for you ( maybe get him a date to a movie or something lol )
It should only cost you no more than 50$USD to repair ( Minus the bribe for a date lol )
Hope this helps you out !

Thx, I'm gonna give it a shot. I went ahead and bought the screen off ebay from the post by pyraxiate. Worst case I mess it up and buy a new phone of ebay for 150-200, which is what I originally thought I'd have to do, so this at least gives me a chance to save some $$$

Glad I could help
Got it all done, actually my pops did it. Works great, he took it apart just like the Mike Channon pics show, don't know if you had to do all of it or not just to replace the screen, but he did. Only one little annoying thing now that it's back together is that a small part of the black plastic out case hangs out just a tab and isn't flush, which makes it a little annoying when hitting the power/standby button on the right side of the phone. But I can learn to live with that I think. thanks for all the help.
congratulations!
good to hear you've achieved a successful repair!
correct me if i'm wrong...are you saying that the two halves of the phone (screen and keyboard) don't align properly when the keyboard is closed? if so, i remember a thread in this section of the kaiser forums that details (with pictures) how to possibly fix that particular problem!!!
"search and ye shall foundeth it !!!"

As was stated before, there is a thread for the case not aligning. I did some quick looking but to no avail. If i come across it ill be sure to post it
I'm not sure if I'm explaining it correctly. But it's basically the outer case, and around the power button it's not flush. Not sure if you can tell from my pics. I tried also doing a search w/no luck. I'm sure there is some specific name or something other than case that it's under.
When i replaced my faceplate i had the same problem. all i did was push it in...kinda hard, and it poped in, or you could use a plasic flathead and pop it back in...

I think its just like DemoShadow said. I dropped mine once and it seems to be a similar issue. I also just pushed really hard to get it to pop back in. I think its just that clip isnt in place as it should be when it was put back together. If anything, try to take it apart and put it back together

how did you put the keyboard back on????????????????
Can you be more specific?
Hey,
I literally just replaced the screen on my backup Tilt last night. Still got most of it in my head.
What, exactly, do you mean about putting the keyboard back on? Got any pics of where you are now?
This was one of the easiest things I've had to do...asside from it being somewhat tedious. Most of my issues were resolved by MAGNIFICATION! Once I could see what I was doing, there were almost no issues.
I only paid $31.99 on eBay for a screen with free shipping (from USA no less)...less than the $35 I would have had to pay with the insurance through my Provider Dealer...and I didn't have to wait for 3-5 weeks to get it back.
I'd do this for people with broken screens as a service, but I can't guarantee the cost of the screen...it goes up and down too much.
If you can be real descriptive, or have pictures, I'm pretty sure I can help get you back together.
Let me know, I'll keep an eye on this thread...

[Need] How to change the faceplate of the Magic?

I am so interested to know if someone has guides or videos guidance to change faceplates on the Magic/MyTouch3G.
My girl friend has a black phone and I ordered her a new white housing for the phone from eBay. I received everything including tools but there was no any instructions. I gave a try from what I can see but it was not successful. I even searched on net but no luck yet.
Any comments will be really appreciated.
here's the magic service manual.
it details how to pull apart the phone into it's individual parts (colour pics included)...
http://phandroid.com/htc-magic-manual.pdf
you may or may not need to totally pull it apart just to change the faceplate (i don't know), but it'll still give you a good idea of how it all goes together.

Thanks for information bro.
Actually, I need to give a try and figure out if I could just pull the faceplate along without totally pulling it apart. It will be so painful as I wont even realize if something goes wrong. Damn wish I had some videos on this.
The mytouch is easy to break down but it would have to be totaly taken apart to change out the plastic housing.

Oh that's awesome. I wasn't even LOOKING for this but it's awesome.
Just one problem with that manual, it's for a prototype version of the sapphire which has the hero style buttons on the bottom instead of the Magic ones. Now, I'm not sure if this is the only difference but just bear that in mind.
I have fully disassembled 3 MyTouch phones. Easiest smart phone to break down so far. Just don't drink any cafiene before hand. not diffucult in any way. just needs a steady hand. HOWEVER! If you have never done this kind of thing before you will likely screw something up. I have been tearing electronics down and repairing them for twenty years. The ribbon type cables can be torn VERY easily, one slip with a screw driver can tear into a board and destroy it beyond repair, too much stress removing a fragile screen can break it. The learning procces on this type of stuff is an expensive one. Go VERY slow and be VERY patient.
Very tempted to replace housing on mine, currently have grubby white Voda one and would like black/red HTC one on ebay. However, as poster said before I have little experience in doing this and nervous to do so. Not sure if I am brave enough!
Can anyone confirm whether or not this housing fits the Mytouch 3G?
It looks like it does. (You can usually tell by the camera hole on the back plate, it's higher on MT3G's) but I'm not sure.
Thanks.

I bought the same in white color says with Google in back cover, and it worked perfectly with my Rogers Magic. I think Magic, MyTouch3G all come under G2.
That might be a bad sign, as the rogers magic I believe is the 32a mainboard and the mytouch is the 32b mainboard. But then again, maybe the mainboard version has nothing to do with this. Is there someone out there who knows for sure that can confirm this?
Somebody should make a video of the housing replacement... i have changed some housings but never a touch screen phone... help would be appreciated...
Hell ya.. I was googling it for days 'n weeks. There was no luck so I went looking for phone repair shops. Finally found a chinese store and they did it for me for $20. That is my story.
Any luck with a video for this?

This is really late and all, but I don't think that housing would work with MyTouch3Gs because the spot where you speak is on the opposite side of the MT3G

I had the same problem on every phone shop in Pacific Mall. But I finally found a one in the Pacific Mall. Probably they are the only people do housing changes for Magic You got to go the area that has phone parts and repair section.
Enter to the mall from the main entrace and turn right and walk all the way down and then turn left. You can find it somewhere in the middle on your left. Sorry I can not remember the name of the shop.
By the way I had my own housing. I do not know if they carry in stock of those.
Oh man, Ive done some research and found a few local phone repair shop who can replace my housing but they all charges over $50.00 = =..I'm going to do it on my own
Okay... I'm finished.
the overall process only should be taking about 30-45 mins.
just follow the guide from step 1-7, then you can jump to step 29 which is remove the LCM from the plate.
Then put the LCM along with rest of the motherboard (watch out there is 2 parts linked together) into your new plate.
Now, put everything back together.

HTC HD2 (Leo) Screens...

Hi,
I've gone and stupidly sat on my phone and now the LCD screen has a dark patch in the middle of it..
I've tried gently rubbing which reduces the patch temporarily and also heating up with a hairdryer completely removes the patch, but also temporarily...
I think final solution is to tear down and replace the screen, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can purchase a replacement screen? Or where I can obtain one at all?
Thanks a lot

I think you should send it to HTC for repair... might cost more than trying to repair it yourself, but trying to repair it yourself could lead to disaster if you don't know what you're doing. Much better to have a professional repair it.
I have exactly the same problem :-O
Have been looking around here and i believe this is the same problem as we have, He fixed it with a sucktion cup so may as well try that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462102&page=13&=#122
Thanks for the link mate. I will try the suction cup idea also and see if it works.
I have called HTC to find out about repair, they said (I'm in the UK), that they will send UPS to come collect and then they will give me a quote, it can take about 5 days to repair if I agree with the quote and £20 to send back to me... But they couldn't give me a better idea on price, although he said because the phone is new it would likely cost "a bit"...
I'll look for a couple more days for alternatives to fixing then it could be heading off to HTC
well the suction cup didn't work for me, tried to use a hoover as well .... all starting to sound rather kinky.
Will be sending off to HTC instead now. Thanks a lot anyway.
Get insurance and get a new one. Or get it fixed.
Same problem. Looks like nobody is selling replacemet parts for leo yet I've manage to find digitizer, but not complete with lcd screen. Is the phone too new maybe? Hopefully someone will start selling parts soon..
there are screens for sale , i think it's about 50 usd or thereabouts. You might want o search around i didn't save the link.
Today I found one by accident
http://4u-kidi.com/info.php?itno=5460
Nope, that's still only the digitizer/ touch screen not the actual LCD screen which displays the picture
i guess you mean the tft lcd screen.

I did the same thing Xmas day and I ended up with a patch in the middle just like the photo I've seen in the thread linked earlier in this thread
after the initial shock thinking I'd broke it already, on closer inspection it looked as if I'd squeezed the liquid out of it so I thought why not squeeze it back?
all I did was press from the outside of the screen using 2 fingers either side of the spot and then quite firmly squeeze towards the spot. I did this in a circular motion around the spot thus forcing the liquid back into the centre. Eventually it was OK after a few directed squeezes and it had completely vanished so imagine my relief
probably a bit late now, gently rubbing as the original poster didn't work for me as that's what I did initially. Eventually I was brave and used some force but not enough to create more spots, just enough to force the spots away again and fixed it completely

This might sound crazy but...Take apart the device. Bust out the broken glass and just put all back together. Get a protective carrying case. Won't be an eyesore anymore and you can quit looking for that little piece.
and Leoni, are you selling the part or just showing off? HA.

beggers cant be choosers
Honestly I think the dummy phone purchase may be your way to go.
You would only be spending about $25-30 USD to have a possible fix.
If this part WERE available, I imagine it costing at least $10-20 USD.
Beggars can be choosers, but you just have less to choose from!
still could not find any seperate insert plastic ):
in fact I have same problem , the first crack appeared after two weeks maybe , then another one after next two weeks , look pretty shattered by now , but surprisingly pics still do come out al right
doesn't really affect the phone , just ruins it visually , and the funny thing is that HTC in the warranty agreement specified already that any external damage to the screen , camera , lens etc. is not covered by the warranty
I wonder if my phone brakes down for a different reason and I send it back , would they void it since I had the camera glass broken , claiming I was handling is roughly

you probably wont find something that small of a part being sold separately, so your best bet is buying the whole case listed before and using the part out of it, or swapping all your stuff over to it. Not expensive but probably all you can hope for unless someone is selling parts off.
broken camera glass
i also broke mine sent it back to htc and for £71.00 inc collection and delivery they replaced it it comes back wiped so back up first
71 pounds for a simple piece of plate-glass that can even be removed and reinstalled without opening the housing? That sounds fairly pricey to me...
And seeing that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem (including myself) wouldn't it be nice if HTC would recognise the design flaw and send out $0.05 pieces of glass to everyone needing one? But knowing HTC that is not gonna happen
I for one am thinking about grinding a thin piece of plexiglass into the right shape and using that. A replacement piece of glass is just going to break again anyway...

[Q] Screen Cracked [Question(s) on how to fix it]

Hi, I recently got my HTC One (m7 / at&t) as a graduation present in June. Unfortunately I recently dropped it face down without its case onto the ground and resulted in a large crack(s) on the screen. I can still use the device, text, talk, watch videos etc.. but as you can obviously tell one does not simply enjoy the pleasure of having their phone(s) screen cracked.
So I immediately began looking for a solution and repair shops said 300$ to fix when I purchased my phone for just a little over 300$. So that is out of the question, unless its truely my last resort. So I began looking on how to fix it, youtube failed me the only thing that was helpful were the breakdown videos of the HTC One teaching me how to take apart the phone (The only part I was interested in was on taking out the glass).
The only solution I currently can think of would to repair it myself. So here are my questions.
1) The screen is cracked only, the touch screen works fine etc.. so can someone show me the listing on ebay/amazing (I prefer amazon) of the kit or things I would need to fix it.
I Saw this one:
amazon /HTC-M7-screen-digitizer-replacement/dp/B00CWKGZ5U/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1376517625&sr=8-5&keywords=HTC+One+Glass
Because it looks like exactly what I Need, BUT I'm no expert so would that fix my problem? Or is it the wrong thing since all I need is the glass and thats the "Digitizer Outter Glass" or something? I dont know my terms that well but to me it seems like what I need because its the "Outter Glass" haha.
But I'm confused about that because it says Digitizer outter glass and in the picture has the connection cord thing, Would this be replacing every part having to deal with the screen? (i.e I take a suction cup and take out the screen, and unplug the connection from the phone to the screen, would what I having in my phone (cracked screen with cord..) be the same thing as what Ill be ordering from that amazon thing but NOT cracked?)
-----------
2) How would I replace it step by step? I already seen videos of taking the phone apart and replacing iPhone screens but I havent seen any towards the HTC One in regards to replacing the screen. So would someone mind pointing me in the right direction, or giving me a text tutorial on what to do? I can pretty much figure it out by reading it since I have videos n pictures to compare it to sorta.
-----------
3) I never done a repair before but it doesnt seem that hard, just have to be gentle and know what youre doing (Thus why im asking so many questions), is this my best option? Or what should I do...
-----------
4) When I seen videos regarding the iPhone screen replacement it was showing things like Screen Seal / and him literally taking off the glass from the this other thing and replacing just the glass itself instead of the thing below it.
Would I have to also use a type of screen seal / or have to take glass off like you would do in the iPhone or is it a 100% different conecpt / idea?
----------
Remember: I basically need to know what I need to fix the cracked screen of my phone, I think this is what i need:
amazon /HTC-M7-screen-digitizer-replacement/dp/B00CWKGZ5U/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1376517625&sr=8-5&keywords=HTC+One+Glass
So if it is, then may someone tell me how to replace my phones cracked screen using that and explain it to me what im actually doing and watch each part is etc.. (like what im buying and whats cracked with my phone, so I know its what I need)
and if not, can someone tell me what I need and how to do it?
PS I understand I cant post outside links, but its amazon and Im not trying to advertise i just need the link as a comparison / example
This is one of the worst phones created when it comes to repair. It is well made, but ease of repair was not their priority. The only thing I can recommend to you would be to go to the Ifixit web site. They do a tear down of the phone to show how hard it is to repair. Maybe that will help you out.
Edit: In your original post, you wrote that you had watched videos on the Iphone. Since this is a different phone with differences in assembly, I suggested a video concerning this specific phone. Not trying to be rude, but if I was taking apart my HTC, I would view specific videos concerning my phone. I thought that the specific video might give you clues as to the parts involved in assembly and what procedures were necessary. The video I was referring to concerned their taking apart an HTC One. Every bit of information might be helpful to you trying to fix your problem.

Not being rude but I'm pretty sure I already stated the fact that I seen the videos and tutorials regarding the tear down of the phone. So how do you expect that to "maybe" help me out? If I'm trying ti find out the part(s) I need to replace since I don't know the full termology.
I know how to take my phone apart (For the most part), I Just need to know mainly what I need to replace to fix my cracked screen, or whats my best solution. + The questions i stated in the thread.
Thank you.
Unfortunately you will have to change the whole screen assembly.
This will cost you a little ... http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc...itizer-assembly-with-front-housing-white.html
You could try also just the LCD+ digitizer (if the front aluminum parts are still intact: http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html
If you scratched the back of the phone, those guys have the back assembly also ... about 24 USD ... ( http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-rear-housing.html )
You could TRY replacing only the digitizer ( http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-digitizer-touch-screen.html ) but I would not go there. In between the digitizer (what is actually cracked in your case) and the lcd there is a special "jelly" glue which is VERY hard to remove w/o breaking the LCD. I tried that on a N7 and now I'm waiting for a new LCD to be delivered ...
Good luck!
Thank you, I appreciate the reply.
My casing / housing isnt broken (The cracks start from the top of the screen right below the camera/speakers where the glass is, and the crack(s) end towards the HTC Logo etc..) so should I still buy the white housing with lcd+digitizer or should I just go with the second option and buy the digitizer+lcd without the housing (second link you gave me)

Let us know how it went. :good:
Not sure if it's worth it. HTC will fix it for you somewhere around $180.

Hi,
I posted a lengthy thread on how to do a repair here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387992
Did it well over a month ago and it is still running fine.
You might want to call you household insurance, and tell them someone in your household (not you) dropped the phone while cleaning for example.
Here in the Netherlands, they will pay the repair even the same day.
I didn't had to send them anything, just tell them on the phone how much the reparations would cost, and they transfered the complete numeber right away!
Too bad I found that out after spending more than $100,- on phone reparations.
It might be worth the shot, since they may reimburse it for you.
