i just updated to darkys 7.8 rom its fast but score is low with quadrent only at 1100~
i used to use OCLF which convert the partition to ext2 however darkys already use ext4 for file system so i dont know if this gonna do any good
so which lag fix should i do and where to get it from
thx
Apply voodoo from recovery.
It's included in Darky's, but not activated.
Its fast but quadrant is poor .
Suggests quadrant is a poor tool .
jje
Quadrant was reliable until Froyo appeared. From then on it became irrelevant.
applied
thx
take no notice off quadrant scores they mean nothing
Someone is concerned about his ePeen.

I would ignore Quadrant scores, they are pretty much obselete.

Hello everyone, I have a Captivate flashed with a darkytt3r v8.1 ROM. I ran a quadrant standard benchmark and got a pretty good 1105 Mhz. Then I realized I hadn't even flashed speedmod-kernel-i897-k12o-500hz-CWM from the SGS kernal flasher and then i did another benchmark and got 1018. Did that ROM come with a better speed mod that I overwrote with this one? Can anybody suggest a good speed mod to put on my phone? I like to have my phone push the boundary's of going so fast it combusts so the faster the bester
Quadrant scores are not reliable. Base your tests on other things.
while running eclair stock 2.1 with one click lag fix installed I was getting scores over 2300. Now with cognition 2.1.7, I get about 1500. However, the phone is still faster than stock.
Kernel is what you mean, not speedmod. Setiron's kernel is currently the fastest, since it is the only one overclocked past 1.2 ghz but that is only if your phone is capable of that, not all are. Speedmod isn't the fastest, since it isn't overclocked. It is one of the most stable though, and definitely the most feature rich.
Hard to go off benchmarks these days... I prefer real life usage...

I had Firebird kernel with DG's Perception ROM (lagfix applied) and got around 1,600 every time (concordant with DG's own results). I flashed speedmod k12p and now I'm getting 1,350-1,450. I don't know whether Quadrant is reliable but those are my numbers and it seems speedmod is kind of slower.

Thumb rule: Run multiple tests, atleast 3-6
Check the ROM and kernel in my signature. I have posted the scores too.
Thanks guys! I ended up just flashing phoenix 3.5 and then using the kernal. I ran 5 benchmarks and got around 1350 everytime, and Im happy with that. Thanks for your advice.

Personally, I think CyanogenMod 7 for SGS is much smoother when you scroll things. But animation and speed is the same.
if you looking froyo version then it is darky or simple galaxy or ultimate rom but u must also do a combo with kernels like damiangto or speedmode or others...just do a test and u will se what is your perfect combo and desire u want =)
thanks ill try those roms and see which is quicker
but can i put a different kernel on custom roms cos i tried a kernel for overclocking on darky and it kept freezing
Ahola!
I can personally recommend insanity 0.6.6 with gto 1.1 gold kernel. its fast and responsive as hell. Try to keep it as minimalistic as possible to keep you speed. Get a 2000+ quadrant every time and with ext2 flat and some tweaks you can get near the 2500 without oc Going to flash ultimate with gto 1.1 gold today. Will keep you updated!
Thanks will wait for your updatee
stitch
i flashed insanity 0.6.6 with 1.1 gold kernel and i only got 1472 in quadrants
can u tell what i should change in recovery mode so that i can make it quicker, im a noob so can u do a step by step??
just flashed juwe's 1.5 smart edition rom, man its good, i think its the first rom smoother than darkys without OC kernel...

Change filesystem to ext2 with ext2 loops for the best performance. You can also do without loops or ext4 with ext2 loops. Not that this will make you lose data when you do a battery pull. For me performance is more important then safety, never had any trouble but be aware.
Check this link for more info on the system:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799931
Im on simply galaxy now and for me it looks better than insanity and is just as fast. (Note that I stripped away almost 100 mb and replaced some of insanity's work)
Still on Damian's kernel and its fast with underclock (800mhz) and undervolt (-100), have 2 full days battery now!
Also quadrant doesn't say anything. With the right tweaks you get a 3000+ score but actual performance is different. Just try some things see how scrolling, navigating, opening a lot of apps and games run. (run n64oid games or dungeon defenders, this will require a lot from your phone)
In the end its all about preferences but there are some huge differences. I was on darky untill 2 months ago. Soon CM7 and Miui will be awesome, check their process in a few weeks
yea its true, i used to get quadrant score of 1800+ with OCLF but things kept force closing, crashing a lot, the quadrant score may show u the computing speed but in terms of multi-tasking and real-time phone functioning i use Darky 9.3 and its very smooth and responsive, better than stock definitely (as well as OCLF)

I have some question:
I'm noob at using lagfix tweak in some kernel, I used to change to ext4, is it ok?
which kernel that I can choose ext2?
Can u show me the way to tweak insanity?
Is Tegrak kernel better?
Quadrant scores doesn't really matter.I get only 1000 with darky's 10 RC3, but it's ultra smooth ad lagfree.

Yeah man but it will be better with a higher both quadrant and real perfomance
I still wonder how to get near 2500 points with ext2 and some tweaks? I need your instructions.
Miui is preeetty fast in 3d ...if thats what ur looking for.

I tried MIUI and CM7 but due to camera and FM player was not good so I still looking for Froyo
Ginger ROMS cannot modified like Froyo Mod Kernels.
i have stock JVP ROM and Galaxian kernel V4 installed. Other users claim to have a quadrant score above 3,000 but im just getting 2,300 on 1.4 Ghz. What could be causing this poor result?
did jou convert to ext4?
btw don't take quadrant to seriously
yeah , lagfix must be ON ( convert to ext4 ) and try a couple time do it test
I do have lagfix enabled, all partitions are on ext4... What else could be?

so , don't take quadrant to seriously ( like florida166 say ) ....
I can't find the answer to this. With Semaphore kernel I used the ext4 addon. This does not seem to be applicable with ICS?
Although running smoothly and I understand it is still a Alpha build the Quadrant score are very low.
no ICS is on a completely different filesystem normal samsung is on rfs ics is on a completely different AOSP based filesystem you shouldnt even flash semaphore on ICS

I believe cm9 (teamhacksung's build) uses the yaffs2 filesystem.

Firstly, Nope, there's been a huge leap from Gingerbread systems & interfaces. Its all changed through & through.
Secondly, Don't worry about the Quadrant scores. Quadrant is a waste of time. Literally.
Try 'Linpack for Android' for a proper benchmark. (Compare the MFLOPS)
SPOILER: Linpack scores of ICS has been higher than GB.... atleast for me ;-)
Thanks peeps. Educated I now am.
the only thanks we need is you clicking the thanks button

Correct, but I want to add that is uses a combination of ext4 and yaffs2, just to be precise and answer the OP
quadrant is much greater with the ICS onecosmic.
why does htc dhd ics use ext4 then? with it, it feels a lot smoother considering their hardware is lower than sgs'?
no Ics dont use ext 4 and rfs
What????
I dont know ;D
Hi. I have a question. I have an Samsung Galaxy S with 2.3.6 XXJVU and I obtain 1300 score in Quadrant
1)Lag Fix for 2.3.6 are released,if yes , give me please
2)Its any possibility to obtain high score than my score on 2.3.6 ?
Thank You!
do you know what lag fix is?
any lag fix should work.
just find newest one you see should work. all it is is formatting your phone storage from rfs to ext4 or something else.
quadrent scores dont count much for some people. but if you want to improve try new kernal, scripts, or a whole new rom. look in the dev section. new roms get over 1300 + easy. ive seen 2000+ with a good rom and kernal and some overclocking
try to flash to custom kernel like semaphore...and flash the pikachu thunderbolt tweak as well. you can feel the different.
