I am wanting to make an icon called new SMS Message that starts a new sms message. Is this possible. I use ADW EX.
Also I would very much like to create a bluetooth icon on my desktop for configuring my bluetooth, rather than having to nav through menu's like I do now.

Hey guys, just wondering if there is a way to get the number of notifications listed on the icon like in Sense roms? I am using Typhoon's CM7 rom.
Do you mean a notification icon that says how many text messages you have? If so, you can get gosms or similar text message app from the market. A lot of them do this.

What launcher are you using? If you have ADW, I think you need ADW notifications from market. Same goes for Go launcher. I am not sure about launcher pro.

Go Launcher + Go Notifications is another possibility.
If you want a standalone widget you can try SMS Unread Count from market. Works for SMS, Calls and GMail.

Up until today I was using the stock messenging app. I use LPP and custom icons in the dock, and used ADW notfier to show me unread counts on the icons in the dock.
It worked flawlessly with the stock messenging app, but it's not working with GoSMSPro for some reason.
To be make it clearer... I added the messenging app to the LPP dock, then picked my own icon (text based, from the Generation X icon .psd template), and set the stock messenging app as the app to be used in ADW notifier. This worked.
Now I have set GoSMSpro as the shortcut on my dock, same custom Icon, and went into ADW notifier and set GoSMSPro as the app.
That doesn't work. It shows the count on the notification icon in the notification bar up top, but not on the LPP shortcut. I already tried the Chuck Norris mode, and put GoSMSPro on the whitelist, still no luck...
Anybody have ADW Notfier or a similar app working for GoSMSPro launcher shortcuts?
If anyone has ADW Notifier working, please let me know how.
If you have another app working for that, please let me know which app.

Sorry....but ADW Notifier has been a bit of a mystery for me. Got it to work briefly on my K-9 email icon but when I flashed to a different ROM it stopped working, and I haven't been able to get it going again.
Am watching responses to your question to see if I can get some insight.
doesnt work for me either, so i stopped trying to get it work
it used to work only after i "changed" the color of the popup (i.e. click change but use the same color as it was before) but now that doesnt work either. hope somebody can tell me how to fix it. Until then, I've uninstalled it so that it doesnt run as a service
It still works on my custom icons on the launcher dock for missed calls and e-mails (Gmail app), just not with GoSMSPro it seems... I wonder if it's not supported or what..
i think.. GoSMSpro has its own service. I uninstalled ADWnotifier and GoSMSpro has its own notification bubble, not neither phone nor gmail does now.. haha
I noticed that in the notification bar (when i unhide it) it shows a count over the icon up there, but not on my dock icon... This if frustrating. I also disabled the SMS part of ADW to try recreate what you saw, but it still won't show.
Where are you seeing the count now? On a dock icon? shortcut on homescreen? Thanks!

I just opted to delete ADW and go with Go Launcher and now everything is fine.
Does the GoLauncher also show the unread count for missed calls and e-mails the same way?
OK, I use the widgets I paid for in LPP so GoLauncher is not an option. The main reason I'm using GoSMS is for the "theming." I'm using black theming throughout my phone with red accents to cut down on screen drain, and it just looks awesome. My keyboard is themed the same way, and I hated the way the stock messanging app chat looks, with the blue and green. Is there any way to change that? I looked through the phone files a little bit but can't find the pictures that draw the chat bubbles. And If I found them I wouldn't know how to change the font color... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I use go SMS pro as well but I use SMS unread count and have no issues with it working with go SMS pro
I tried that, but SMS Unread only works on a widget you create, I'd like for it to show the count on my launcher dock icon/shortcut.
It seems that ADW.Notifier just isn't compatible with GoSMSPro... Because I even tried putting a shortcut to GoSMSPro on my homescreen, and with it in the whitelist with Norriz mode on it still doesn't provide the count.
This is why I now just want to change the theming of the stock messaging apps chat bubbles. Theming and customizing the look is the only thing that draws me to GoSMS, but if using it interferes with my homescreen look/functionality I don't want to use it.
Found somebody who is going to theme the chat bubbles of the stock messaging.apk. Will give me the look I'd like and functioning dock icon notifications.

I use GO Launcher EX and GO SMS Pro and I am happy with them. What do you guys think about GO Contacts? is it fast?. If u guys use other GO products please state their name. Thank You!

Go SMS Pro and Go Launcher EX. To every1 who use Go Launcher I can recommend GoWidgets Calendar and Messaging, both are really cool and functional. I think Go Contacts is great, but unfortunately there is no Norwegian translation so I'll stick with TouchPal until that's fixed
I use Go keyboard and sometimes Go launcher Ex.
Aah, and I forgot that I use Go Weather as well. It looks really nice and I use the HTC widget skin
Have tried them all, but needed a lock-screen pop-up for SMS, so abandoned GoSMS for Handcent. Go Contacts was laggy when I tried it, now trying Contapps. Go Launcher Ex was OK, but since I'm using Elelinux 7.0 ADW works better. Still, I like their style!

I've settled on Go Launcher EX and GoSMS, after trying ADW, Launcher Pro(paid) & and Handcent. All on recommendations from friends.
Overall I like the customizations, ease of use, and 'snappiness' of both apps over their marker alternatives.
I tried GoCalendar widget, but can't offer you anything more than, "I just really wasn't feelin' it"...if you can follow me on that.
GoWeather was ok, but again wasn't feelin' it. Decided on the weather app within Beautiful Widgets which I use as my clock widget.
I use the go launcher with a really great theme ( Real Black ) its so great and is fast
And use the calendar widget.
The weather i use the beautiful widgets only without animation.

Now on the Nexus S, I want to use the stock launcher but I miss the notification function a lot. Is there a working alternative in the big android market?

Can someone develop a mod to make a messaging and phone counter? I downloaded sms unread count app, but since it adds it as a widget, I can't place it in the tray at the bottom which is quite annoying.
Or does anyone know of an app/mod that already exists?
I believe if you use ADW, there is an add-on that enables unread SMS count.

I like the launcher I'm using, trebuchet. Don't want to deviate from that. I heard about ADW but not interested.
ADW Notifier is the add-on the other poster was referring to. You can use ADW Notifier without using ADW Launcher, I'm using it with Nova Launcher at the moment.
Make sure you enable ADW Notifier in Accessibility settings.
Haven't tried using it with Trebuchet just yet, however.
I'm using nova launcher, need a little help here, i turn on the accessibility, select sms apps and phone apps, but just cant get it work, any hints?
