My NC was rooted using the 12/25 Autonooter app! Pretty darn easy process to say the least! Thanks guys!
After completing all of the steps I went into the Android Market and downloaded the Amazon Kindle app. The app downloaded and installed onto my NC but it doesn't look like it created a shortcut in the Extras folder. Is there a defined process to do this?
I can launch the Kindle app from within the Market app but am hoping to find a way to launch it from somewhere other than the Android Market. I really don't want to install a third party launcher onto the NC so I'm hoping for a different solution. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yup! Just figured that out... I rebooted the NC and there it was.
Apparently I had too much turkey to eat today as I'm a wee bit slow!
Install a custom launcher like LauncherPro and your apps will appear instantly in the app drawer without rebooting. Not to mention that it will make your NookColor much more awesome in every way.

I love ADW on the Nook. With all the scaling options it has, you can pack in quite a bit of information on each home screen. The app launcher is also very customizable, and the widgets can be manually scaled. It's almost like it was made for the Nook Color.
Hey,
I just rooted my Nook and the first thing after setting everything up was downloading Angry Birds. But the Apps neither shows up at the Superuser List, nor in the normal "Extras" List. The only way to start it is over the marketplace. Anyone knows how to fix this?
I think I had to reboot before it showed up. That would be my advice.

Okay, gonna try this. Thank you! Unfortunately my battery is empty, so I have to wait now^^
This happened to me when I was using the stock home screen. It should show up after rebooting. The problem is easily solved by changing your launcher. I have been pretty happy with Zeam. You may want to search the forum for more on this.
Just rebooted and now all Apps are displayed. Awesome. I am so happy that I rooted the NOOK
Pretty much what it says in the thread title...I just did a Market update on my CM7 install and it showed an update for the Nook app to support magazines and newspapers. The only major functional difference between the stock reader and the market reader now is kids' read-to-me books. Nice update!!!
That's great, although it is lame that kids books aren't supported yet, even the *pad supports those!
Just updated, and couldn't get anything to work right! Just cleared the cache and rebooted to see it that helps
Great will update that's what was missing

Well allllright! Now I don't have to resort to annoying work arounds to read The Onion and Asimov's Science Fiction on the market Nook reader. It supports more magazines now too (for example, PC Gamer was "Nook Color" only, now it's "Nook Color" and "Nook for Android (Tablet)" which apparently means us...makes me curious how it's deciding what is a tablet and what isn't, if it makes a distinction...screen resolution I presume), so it's work a look for anyone who got some magazines on the Nook Color and can't read them now because they are on CM7 or something.
I think the interface is a bit better as well.
My books disappeared
I have a number of books loaded on my SD card( in the correct directory). After the update the books don't show up.
Any ideas?
edit: They showed up. Just had to wait a few minutes.

I'm not sure what to say, I didn't have any problems. Have you tried refreshing the the app? (that is, presing the refresh button up near the top of the screen underneath the search button within the app?)
I can't get the update to run on my nook color with 1.2 and manualnooker. There's an icon but when I tap it nothing happens no force close screens no error messages nothing. It's like the app isn't even installed.
I've got the same issue on my stock rooted original. Maybe it's not working because I haven't updated to the newest software version.
I also tried running it on my nexus, but my magazines will not show.

I'm running CM7, but why are you guys trying to get it to work? You can just use the slightly superior still stock Nook Color reader. I mean, you know, go for it...just curious.

Not everyone has stock (rooted or not) still intact? Never mind, I gotcha (Thought you were referring to the earlier posters rather than later)
On another note, going to the store (and for that matter, any top-bar or bottom bar menu items, like menu, go to library (if in store), info, search) takes a long time to register. It's not my screen, because I can swap in and out of other apps and hit those spots without any lag or problems. Menu is not working for me at all

Its not possible to run Nook app if you are running Stock... doesnt matter which version... at least i never got to run and always found ppl stating the same
some questions
Running cyanogenmod 7.02.
Is it possible to "read in store" when I am in B&N?
Using the nook app, do I have to load the books on the SD card? Can I put them into internal memory?
Thanks in advance
How to get if in Canada
Whats the best way for a Canadian to get this app since the Market restricts it.

I spoke to one of the Nook app devs about the near impossible task of pressing the buttons in the upper right corner, when they released the beta of this last week. He said they are working on fixing this.

Look up Market Enabler in Google Market. Tricks Google Market into thinking you're in the US.

Bummer about the small buttons on the top right of the app..
FYI, search will work in app if you use the CM7 Tablet tweek search button. It will call up the BN apps search dialogue box, provided you have the option toggled on to show the search button on the status bar.
Worked great, for my phone

That was a great solution and worked like a charm. I'm hoping to find the APK somewhere so I can load it on my Transformer.

Good, that's about my only real complaint about it right now.
Looks like they didn't fix sideloaded books showing their covers. The nook app is the ONLY reader app that doesn't show my sideloaded books covers. Every other one i tried they work fine. Annoying.
Just be careful what you touch.. I was looking at magazines and saw NatGeo and thought hey, look, maybe I can preview it. So I tapped "Current Edition". Nothing happened. Tapped it again and it confirmed purchase for $6 for a single edition.
I've emailed B&N telling them to remove this and credit my CC back and that they should fix their horrid user interface.
First off it should VISIBLY change when there's money to be paid. Button changes color or BETTER the button is in a different position, such as a pop-up window that says "Your credit card will be charged X dollars, purchase/cancel". Not the same button that apparently is so laggy it doesn't update in time for folks to not realize tapping it twice in a few seconds will purchase it.
Meh.
I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstall the market update and you can search it and it will have a download button.
I wish the nook app supported the "read to me" books that I bought and now can't use unless I put stock back on my nook. I'd like to also be able to read them on my phone or another tablet.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)
I cant seem to find a way to back out of screens that don't have back arrow. Most apps/screens have a back arrow that I can ack out of of to return to where I was. However, not all screens have this and I don't know how to back out of them. On my Nook Tablet, I could swipe from right to left on the lower screen to back out of these windows but this gesture doesn't appear to work on my new Nook HD+.
One example is in File Explorer ES. When I load File Explorer, go to App Manager and then pull up a particular app, it's details screen comes up. From there, I have no idea how to back out of that screen. I can press the Home button and get back to Home and go to other apps but, if I try to go back to File Explorer, it's still stuck on that same screen, and I'm assuming it will be until I find some way to back out of it.
I've searched online and haven't had any luck finding any help with this one.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Once again, thank you very much leapinlar. I really appreciate your assistance. I will definitely check out this app. Hopefully this won't be one of the apps that sends the rooted Nook HD+ into the 8 reboot tailspin of death.

It doesn't. But if you ever have that problem and you have backed up your device with my cwm (you have, haven't you?), then you can temporarily turn off the device while it is bootlooping and insert the CWM card and let it boot to that. Then you can restore, fixing the problem. I did not say in my thread, but it is a good idea to periodically back up the device before you make major changes so you don't have redo a lot of stuff after you restore.
I think I will add this advice to my thread.

That would be a cool app if it worked properly. It hides the bar nicely, but does not let you bring it back without a reboot. At least on my rooted stock HD.

The same problem for me.
It seems trivial but not being able to exit nook apps such as "reader" is keeping me from using them. I currently use coolreader for that very reason. I acually think the default font and formatting is superior in the nook reader.
