Ive installed Adobe Flash 10.1 and tried to install the hulu hack, which works well on my X.
However, now even after multiple uninstalls everytime i go to a flash page, the browser just closes. no FC, just quits to the home screen.
is there anything im missing?
what browser you are using, try a different browser like Dolphin or Xscope and see if you are still getting the FC.
Using the Stock And Dolphin HD and both do the same thing
i have no issues using dolphin hd or stock browser.
Did you just change the browser useragent or did you replace the lib file in "/data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/"?
If you changed the lib file then I suspect this doesn't work as it's not the tegra version. I suggest you delete the "/data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer" folder via Root Explorer and reinstall the correct flash player for tegra: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245

I was told that Dolphin and Miren both are built on top of the same core as the default browser, so that makes sense. Apparently, Xscope is from scratch, so might try that if all else fails.

I could not find any information about this in the forums anywhere.
I apologize if it has already been discussed.
My favorite feature in Hero is the browser's ability to prevent websites from showing the mobile view.
I know many sites have a choice for this, but some of them don't.
Has anyone come up with a way to get the stock cupcake browser to fool websites into thinking it is not a mobile browser? Is it even possible?
get loccys browser, it allows you to do this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551119&highlight=loccy and much more!
if you cant use adb then just use a file browser such as oi file manager to install, works great!
Thank you for the help.
I have been looking for this forever.
Time to reflash.

It's way easier to install using a file manager than ADB.
Although u can use a fike manager to install apks u cant install system apps like the browser with them. Get SUFBS from the market or get the adb file manager for ur pc. I use the adb manager no need for commands just a few clicks and i can remove and push things at will!
Thanks everyone.
I've already flashed CM 4.0.4 and installed the browser using ADB.
Browser is awesome.
I had this problem to when using cupcake. If you don't have root or want to dal with flashing you can always use a proxy servr also. I used to use youhide.com cuz everytim I went to the ufc website I got the lame mobile site
All I did to install it was download it through my phone browser. Then tap the file in the download manager and installed in seconds.

Again... YES you can. However, it seems only Linda File Manager has the functionality...other file manager's don't. I fooled around with it again today...this time totally removing all browser related files from /system/app, /system/sd/app, and /data/data. I then rebooted and reinstalled Loccy's browser using Linda FM.

I haven't tried downloading it with browser... didn't even think to try it that way. So there are now two ways of doing it on the phone without using terminal or ADB.
I used OI file browser, it worked fine installing the browser!
A lot of system apks can be installed right through linda with no need to push through adb
I always find it easier to use the terminal:
cp /sdcard/blahblah.xxx /system/blah/blah
Anyone successfully try the Fennec nightly builds on NC stock rooted 1.1v2? Firefox 4 Beta 5 seems like the fastest browser, but it has a bad habit of locking up my Nook. I was hoping to try the Fennec nightly, but can't get it to install via APK. I'm trying to use the nightly build on the Firefox Wiki (can't post links yet).
When I try to install the app via APK, the install starts, continues for 5-10 seconds and then says "Application Not Installed."
I like Dolphin HD well enough, but it hangs for 10-15 seconds sometimes when loading sites. I've tried the other browsers and they all have some issue that makes them not as good as Dolphin HD.
Thanks!
If you have adb installed you could look at the log during the install process and see what the problem might be. If you don't have adb, maybe I can look if you tell where I can grab the APK.

Didn't know about ADB creating a log, so I'll take a look at that. Thanks!
I downloaded the package in the web browser and then used Linda to find and run the APK. It installed successfully and I was able to run it just fine.
Can you try what I did and let us know if it works for you?

I'm Running Firefix Fennec RC1 on Nookie Froyo and it works great.
Try getting RC1 here:

Or Check for the Latest Release from here:

Firefox RC on my Nookie Froyo SD card works well for me, too.
I only wish it worked as well on my original Droid- slow as molasses there.
Not Ready For Prime Time Yet
Fennec/Firefox seems to lock me up (running 1.1 Rooted, not overclocked). Also, the add-ons don't seem to install fully, nor can I seem to remove the built-in ones (e.g., Twitter, Wikipedia...) - I guess Mozilla seems to feel that I need those - LOL
Seems to be also a bit bulky just like Firefox for desktop - lots of bloat
just my $0.02
If you don't like Firefox I'd suggest xScope, if you don't need Addons. One of my favorite features with it are the Site-Specific UA options and Chrome like interface. It also has Basic jestures. Left/Right Swipe switches Tabs. Flick Up/Down under Notification Bar to hide it or show it. Pressing Menu hides the Interface for Fullscreen and a Hidden Feature of Double-Tapping at base of Tab to close the Tab(although there is a Tab menu) Also supports Flash plugin, plus Enhanced Copy-Paste ability so you can copy nearly anything on a Webpage.
Free version: Free from Market
Pro version: $2.99 from Market, $0.99 from Amazon Appstore
Pro version gives you screenshots and a few other features.

Tried installing the nightlies via Astro APK and it just won't work. (Nor will the Firefox RC.) It looks like this is because I uninstalled Firefox 4 Beta 5 via Manage Settings instead of via the Market uninstaller. When I go to the Market, it says Firefox is installed when it isn't. If I try to install any version of Firefox, I get the "Application Not Installed" error. I'll have to try it via ADB and see what happens in the log. Just haven't had time yet.
Here is Hulu and and Adobe flash 10.3 for our NS4G phones. I had really missed watching the TV shows and found the following from several different forums and versions until I found a combo that worked
(Make sure you clear cash/data from settings>applications>manage applications>Adobe Flash xx and then uninstall any version of Adobe flash player you have first.
D-load the Flash Player Apk and push it with Root Explorer or Free App. Android Mate
D-load the Hulu Apk and push it with Root Explorer or Free App. Android Mate
Enjoy
Make sure to uncheck auto update for Flash Player (market setting)
the libflashplayer.so file has been modified to work with the Hulu App. and will be written over if flash updates
Screen on app can be used to keep the screen on (lol) while playing
Thanks to S197,KhasMek,Adrynalyne,Almighty1 and imneveral0ne

Check your zip file. Adobe flash 10.1 is there. Script is cracked up
Uncle Jimmy says hello
Did what you said and it didn't work for me. First, I couldn't find the hulu app. I extracted the zip and installed hulu that way too. Tried signing in and it said I was signed in as null. I tried playing anything and all I got was the blue Lego block. Yes I installed it as your directions said but it didn't work for me. The hulu app wasn't in the drawer so I installed it manually.
I can't get it to work either. I followed all the instructions and I changed the User Agent in my browser but when I go to Hulu it tells me that it requires Flash Player 10.0.32 or higher and I need to download and install the latest version before continuing.
Tried: pushing the .apk to /system/app and then flashing the .zip in recovery
pushing the .apk to /data/app and then flashing the .zip in recovery
installing the .apk instead of just copying it and then flashing the .zip in recovery
Also tried default browser and Dolphin Browser after changing the User Agent to desktop.
Any other suggestions?
Edit: Just saw Snandlal's comment. I'll wait for an updated script, thanks!
Ok I removed the Hulu zip (It had an old flash in it) and provided a Hulu apk.
Make sure to clear your old flash player data again then uninstall it.
Then push Flash player with root explorer.
Push Hulu apk second. If you did install the old zip make sure to also clear data and then un-install it prior to pushing the new apk.
I did Try the new one and it works
sorry bout the confusion super busy on this end
dont forget to uncheck update automatically (market settings for flash player or when it updates it will write over libflashplayer.so file

Alternative Hulu apk
In case you didn't want to download another app (Screen On) taking up some small chunk of storage, I attached another Hulu.apk that seems very identical to the apk in the OP with the only difference being that it automatically keeps the screen on while in use. Tested with the Flash 10.3 in OP on my Evo.

great ill try and update on OP there are different apks floating around some that dont auto-landscape and others that do choppy playback but if its good well post
Yeah it autorotates. I only know of two other things I don't like with it. 1) it logs you out of hulu on every exit and 2) the full screen mode is off center. Dunno if that was the case with your original apk or if that's universal with hulu mods.
The Hulu app works fine with the Flash from the Market. It doesn't work with the one provided in this thread. Not for me anyways.

so when i started up the hulu app i signed into my account and tried to watch a show and it said that i have to be over the age of 17 in order to watch... wth!? im 21 lol... any ideas?
I think I did it right; I can search for and watch shows, but I do have to do some precision zooming and dragging to make the video fill the screen.
Is this normal?
In the ongoing battle to not have the market crash on launch (rooted stock 1.3 running 4.6.16 and I fixed permissions with ROM manager) I've noticed that titanium backup seems to be a start for a few potential fixes. That said - I have to actually install the bloody thing and w/out market access that's proving tough.
I d'loaded the apk via. the built-in browser. It's on my SD card. But I can't seem to find any way for the built-in app-laucher to....well, launch. When I run the apk's from the browser I get 2 options:
Complete action (running apk) using:
* App Installer (which when clicked says it's unable to install and that I should archive then unarchive the app and try again)
* Package installer (which says there's a prob. parsing the package).
I've got what I assume to be non-market app's checked off in NC Tools (it's the blank box in NC Tools with nothing next to it that people talk about).
Any suggestions to get the bloody apk working?
Sounds like a badly packaged .apk. It also has that error whenever I try to install Honeycomb specific apps.

Did you enable non-market installs?
Do as Dizzy said or find another apk to install, if it keep crashing then try install some another ROM like CM7.

In the NC tools I do have what is supposed to be the non-market installs checked off (but with it being a blank box of text next to it, I'm not positive).
I guess it might be a bad apk, but I got it from the TB site directly. I tried ES File Explorer too. It would seem all apk's I'ev tried give the same error. I'm not sure if maybe B&N somehow hobbled the ability to install apk's with their 1.3 update.

I had CM7 on for a few days, but with the market not working well on it (market determined that the nook wasn't compatible with any of the apps, even with the LCD resize), and with a subscription to PC mag via. B&N I went back to stock rooted 1.3.
Any other suggestions? I was thinknig of trying MIUI if things in CM7 or the Nootered stock don't resolve themselves.

MIUI is just a themed outdated cm7. I don't see how that would help.
Can you get any .apks to install?

I just finished the Android SDK/Java route to push apk's to the NC. I've successfully installed Titanium, ES File explorer, Opera Mobile and SwiFTP to my NC via the SDK route. While I don't have market access, I guess it will be ok for now....I sure wish the Market worked properly though....nice 'n convenient. Ah well.
[EDIT] One thing I did try to get the market to work was uninstall Flash 10.3. I put on 10.2 & reset permissions. No dice for what it's worth....if somebody's keeping a list of things that don't work.

Interestingly, if I try to use the default browser to install appbrain (www.appbrain.com/install), or even Opera mobile to install it, .... it results in a flash screen (rotating flash dots in the middle) that crashes after a second....just like when I (attempt to) launch the Market.
I have a Galaxy Tablet with rooted VZW 2.3.5. I have installed certain .apk's (Google Finance for example) in the /system/app folder with no problem. Other files, such as Opera Mobile, will display an icon but will force close if I open the file. If I install Opera normally. then it will work until the device reboots. I would like to add Opera as a system app in case a factory reset is required. Am I missing a step?
http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/versions/
see here the lastes official opera mobile release.
of course you can copy the app to /system/app if the app doesn´t work.
Thank you for replying. I have a copy of the .apk for Opera and I put it into the correct directory. It is also in the app list afterwards. The problem is that it acts like it is going to open, then it immediately force closes. I have several apps installed this way and those apps work properly.
