If anyone can help with this, I’d really appreciate it. I have been a little disappointed since plunging into Android that for whatever reason, the email app (not Gmail) doesn’t have a “move to folder” option. I’ve had this option on WinMo and Symbian phones so I found it hard to believe that functionality wasn’t in Android. FYI, I am currently running CM 6.1.1.
Well I bought my wife a Samsung Epic 4G for Christmas and lo and behold, the email app on her device has that option! Her phone is rooted and running the Epic Experience ROM. I have tried, to no avail, to put the email app from her phone onto my N1. I have the apk file, have tried to just install as is, have tried pushing via adb, even tried inserting it into the CM ROM zip file in place of the one that was in there. So far I’m not even close. So here are my questions:
Are there any ROMs for the N1 that have this function included?
If not, is it possible to install this in place of the email app in CM?
I’m rather fond of CM and would rather do the latter if it’s possible. I was able to get as far as getting the file signed, and the closest I got after that, I received the error:
INSTALL FAILED MISSING SHARED LIBRARY
With over 200 lib files in the Epic ROM, I have no idea which one(s) would be necessary to make this work. Both phones have Android 2.2.1.
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!
No help on this at all? C'mon folks, I know we've got some smart people in here that can make this work!

When trying to download onto my phone from the Market, I get an error message 'Package file was not signed correctly.'
I'm running Cyanogen 4.2.5 on my Rogers Magic 32A.
Doesn't work for me in denmark
I think this is only US.
It's been released for the Market on all devices, but I think it has something to do with our devices using test-keys and not release-keys...
Thoughts?
Same problem in Belgium with 32A using CyanogenMod 4.2.5 with Kernel 2.6.29bfs.
Very sad
working fantastic on my MT3G running Dwang 1.13. Didn't get an 'update available' notification, but installing it from the market worked flawlessly. I gotta say, navigation with google layers is freakin' awesome

I have the same phone and ROM version and it updated just fine from the Market. However, I did push the software to my phone, following the instructions here. Not sure if that's why it works without issue.
So i guess its confirmed that this is still US only. BAH
"Some features of Android 2.0 are not available on Android 1.6, for example, the ability to use the "navigate to" voice command as shown in our demo video. However, you can still create a shortcut that will allow you to launch Navigation and start getting directions to a specific place from your current location with just a single touch from your home screen."

ugh...
If it is US only, why did they not restrict it to the US on the market ? Or maybe that's technically not possible with the current market configuration ?

Or you can search the Market for 'Nav Launcher' and it will enable these features through an external application. Works fine for me.
Same issue on a Mytouch 3G (32B,) in the US and also running Cyanogen 4.2.5.
This is a fresh install of cyanogen as well (literally nothing more than the 1.6 base image and then the cyanogen update.)
I'm also getting the "package not signed" error. Not sure what the problem is. Running CyanogenMod Android 1.6, but I honestly don't remember what version of Cyanogen it is.
This official update no different than the 1.6 hacked Maps w/Navigation that was pulled from the Droid dump.
Even if you can get it installed, you still need to use either Directions shortcuts or the Nav Launcher to get it working outside the US.
I keep getting errors cannont remove / no such file or directory
on cyan 4.2.5 seams like nothing different from 2.0 droid nav
I sure do wish that people stop giving apps 1 start because it doesn't work on cyanogenmod..... these are precisely the people that bring down heat on developers with their crying. God forbid they have to do a search on the net... and, dare I say, read 3 lines of text.
People need to realize we are not flashing official software here, and so we have no right to b*tch if something that's made for official software doesn't work on our hacked ones. There is not one dev here that I can remember who doesn't clearly say that if you break your phone it's your responsibility, not his, or the manufacturers. That's why we have this community here, if you're having problems most members here will help you out however they can because that's what this place is about tweaking our equipment as much as possible and fixing it when we mess up. I would say most people here enjoy helping others out with tech related stuff, I know I do in whatever way possible, but I have no sympathy for those that can't be a$$ed to read a few lines and just want to flash their phones with total disregard of what could happen.
How do you think google feels everytime they see a one star rating on one of their apps, or any other app, that works perfectly fine on official images when the person comments "DIS SUXXORS, IT B NOT WORKING ON C.M 4.2.5"? It's a miracle they didn't crack down on cyanogen much sooner than they did. PLEASE, PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE if you have issues with something you downloaded from XDA or any other site on the net that deals with this kind of stuff, don't go complaining to your mobile carrier, or whoever developed your mobile's official software; come here and ask for help... besides 99% of the time I'm fairly sure that we'll do a much better job of helping than anybody you can contact from your mobile carrier, or official developers. Also, if you brick you're phone be responsible for you're mistake; don't try to be sly and send it in because it's not working to your dev because again this only attracts unnecessary attention to this site. I'm fairly sure that cease & desist that xda received from MS a few years back was due to precisely this.
I've customized windows mobile, palm, symbian, android phones, plus ps1, ps2, ps3, psp, wii, and so far I've never brick anything, or at least not to the point I can't bring it back, so does this mean I'm super lucky? or super smart? Not really, it's quite simple really my secret is this: READ, Read like your equipment depended on it because quite frankly IT DOES.
Sorry for the rant guys, it's not directed at any one of you, but maybe just maybe one of these "people" will find it and correct themselves. I'd actually wish the mods would post something on the main page, but then again who am I kidding the problem originally arises from them not reading in the first place.
I agree.
Also not working on my phone (32a Magic). Currently looking for a work around.
I have searched for:
Google
Google Maps
Google Maps Navigation
Navigation
Etc, Etc, Etc...
and can NOT find this version in the market???
I updated to the latest "Google Maps" from the market, but it does not have the NAV Features.
AHA!
Redownloaded and now get the "Package Not Signed" error as well.
CyanogenMod-4.2.5
As the title suggests, I've seen plenty of documentation on the forums as to how to uninstall the Samsung bloat that comes with the Captivate, but what about those of us who want to install some of that "bloat" back onto a newly rooted/flashed phone?
One app I really liked for instance was the Samsung IM app (wasn't branded by carrier, was just a vanilla Samsung app - I believe it was part of the Social Hub) and I would love to get that put on my phone running Perception 10. I tried using Titanium to back it up and then restore it to the Perception ROM after flashing, but I just get either an error message saying that the Seven service is unavailable or FCs if I try any other ways.
Are there any links to apks or app dumps out there? Am I missing something? Forgive me if I am, I've been looking for a while but haven't managed to find any threads that actually have the apks/zips attached or go into great detail on how to do this.
Thanks!
I believe allot of the apps that are samsung are reliant on touch wiz. So if your rom does not have touch wiz, I do not think you bean use it.
Although I may be off here
I have seen one other post about this, but it seems to have died. The other poster mentioned that Epocrates (an app that is an absolute must have for me as a medical student) doesn't work with a rooted 1.0.1 or 1.1, but that it does apparently work with a Froyo install. When I say it doesn't work, I mean it seems to install just fine but when you go to sign on, it keeps saying that the username and password are not correct even though I know that they are.
I know that this is one app for one person, but I mainly got the nook color to be an oversized ipod touch (gasp, yes I said the four letter i-word) that I could carry with me in my white coat pocket since it is the size of a small book and have easy access to the web and all kinds of resource information.
I just don't know if I am ready to go through with the hassle of installing and configuring Froyo if I could possibly just make one little app work....
Please help.
I can tell you that I get the same problem as you when I tested out the log-in. I can log-in fine with the website but not the app on stock v1.1. I haven't test the app with Froyo so I can't report back. However you can test this app with the bootable Froyo. Do a search in the Development section. All you need is a 2gb or bigger microSD.
hello Guys
first off all i have to say that i never used Android before but it seems to be awesome, that i can use it on my X1 now.
Bute i got some Problems, i installed and started the Rom above.
So as far as i know, the Market dosent work.
But i dont know how i could getting apps otherwise.
As seen on an other topic, i should use Opera, but how the hell i can start Opera.
The Search Option dosent work for me, and i cant find anythink else.
BTW.
Should i probably use a Rom with market etc?
Or does thoose are not as nice as this Rom ?
As far as i seen android phones in a shop i liked the Motorola Android, but as far as i can say this theme (F1 CM 7) is great.
It works great and dosent have any lags, so is there an older Version, which works nearly as good as this with market and mail?
bump
I realy want to know it!
Nobody will help me?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844033
This is the one I'm using, it has market and almost all things work except the Camera....
It's really smooth and stable, works better than Cyanogen for me.
first of all thanks, that some one anwser me
But take a look of this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12672429&postcount=5
So u see that the Releaser of both Roms says, that this Version should be faster than urs
But if there are no new news, i will try urs as well
Many of the ROMs don't have Market support because of the skia bug. To get Opera on your phone, locate the Opera APK (the PureFroyo release has it included in the Extra Package folder - http://www.multiupload.com/KHCBD329TR), and put the APK in the AndroidApps folder on your SD card - it will show up in your Applications when you reboot.
And best of all, if you can't get a particular build of Android going well on your phone, try another one! They are easy enough to install that you are best going through tons of different versions until you find one the fits best for you. It may take a good bit of searching, kernal swapping and settings modification until you find a reliable one, but when you do it is very satisfying.
Someone can ask me, why if I want to download apps from mobile sites there is no question about account, but there are some sites where android ask me for an acount? (i don't have account in gmail, but i registered by other mail, which not work in my Android)
Just make a gmail account
I have a Korean HTC Desire HD that I rooted and installed the Ice Cold Sandwich rom on.
I currently live in Japan and am on the Softbank network. The biggest problem is that I can't send images through email to other mobile users because of a 1mb limit.
I have been trying to find an email app that will compress images before sending while keeping the original intact.
The closest that I have found is this: AndroMail (sorry can't post links since I'm a noob)
The problem is that I can't get it to connect to my gMail account. I sent the developer a message but he hasn't replied.
I've also read that the Galaxy S3 has this feature by default.
Is it possible to install the S3 mail apk on the DHD (and if so, does anyone know where I can get it?), or are there other options?
By the way, I do understand that there are apps that I can use to compress images.
What I am hoping to find is an email app that is able to do the compression before sending.
It's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I'm lazy
Okay, so I found the S3 rom. I'm going to try to extract the mail app and install it on my phone.
I still haven't found any other mail apps that include image compression as a feature.
Also, from what I can tell, the AndroMail app servers are not working. There is a gateway option in the setting. By default, it has different servers listed. I can change them, but I have no idea what I would need to change them to. Anyone else use this app?
Okay, so I successfully extracted the S3 secMail apk and odex files from the rom using the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667081
Then I attempted to deodex the files using the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053227
I couldn't deodex. I got no output files. I checked to make sure Java was installed (I knew it was, since I sometimes try to do some basic programming with the Android SDK).
So, since I couldn't deodex, I figured, why not? I tried to install the S3 secMail app anyway. As I expected, it didn't work.
Is there no mail app that has this functionality? I guess I incorrectly assumed that this was basic feature.
Okay, after four days of trying, I'm about ready to give up.
I have tried side loading different SecMail apps, but I'm assuming it's locked to Samsung devices only.
I have also scoured the internet and both Google and Amazon markets, and nothing.
I have just about given up. One last time, is there anyone that knows of any mail apps that offer image compression, or is it possible to port SecEmail (the only mail app I know of that does offer image compression) to the DHD
