I've heard of flashing the phone to carriers other than Sprint. I have unlocked my phone and installed a custom rom, but am not sure what else is required. I know people have flashed it to Cricket Wireless and MetroPCS as well. However I have not heard of it being flashed to PagePlus. Please if anyone has done this before instruct me on how to do this. My contract with sprint is almost over and i would like to get on board with one of these cheaper prepaid wireless carriers.

Planning to purchase the US GSM sim unlocked model from Motorola, I have the AT&T XT1058 already.
Just want to make sure: the sim unlocked US GSM has all the needed frequencies to be able to get 4G lte (where available, of course) on both AT&T and T-Mobile?
Also, does it come with wifi tether built in/enabled? That I don't have to root and mod?
Tried to research both here and online, but wanted to make sure before ordering
Thanks!
My T-Mobile version (XT1053) works fine on both AT&T and T-Mobile LTE/Data.
It does, however you have to have the correct plan in order to use it, do a little reading up on the T-Mobile plans to see which include tethering and which dont.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Hi,
I recently purchased a HTC One over here in the UK and a few weeks later, the phone got blacklisted. As I was massively out of cash I tried to eBay it and listed it with a bad IMEI/ESN. Somebody in the States got back to me and offered a swap with a Verizon HTC One. I'm not too experienced with the phone but I seem to remember hearing that a Verizon HTC One sometimes requires different methods for rooting or installing ROMs to the international versions. Can anybody guide me here whether or not I should be able to use the phone and root it/flash ROMs as I would with my original?
Thanks.

Installing ROMs are identical to the International One. Now, the bootloader unlock for the Verizon One doesn't happen through HTCdev. Rumrunner is required for unlocking the bootloader and S-OFF. Once the bootloader is unlocked, the custom recovery is flashed the same way as the International variant. Rooting is also the same.
However, there are certain issues with bootloader unlocking the Verizon One on Kitkat 4.4.2. Im not too sure about that, the Verizon forum for the One should guide you more in that area.
And, the ROMs for the Verizon will be listed on the Verizon One Android Development, not on the International One forum. There aren't as many ROMs for the Verizon as compared to International unlocked

If you're not on Verizon in the States, do NOT buy it. Pretty sure it won't work outside the US
I haven't been up to date on flashing and switching carriers in a few years, I used to do it all the time.
My girlfriend broke here phone (Verizon Contract) and needed a new phone, we got a good deal on a HTC One (m7) Model No: HTC PN072. And purchased it.
I thought it was still be the same old flash the radios call Verizon and keep asking for new people until I get someone who can offer to activate. Now I am looking for an unlock tool and all I can find is GSM SIM unlockers, and can't find the right Verizon Radios for this phone.
My girlfriend is pissed because now she doesn't have a phone and we just spent money on this new phone. Am I SOL? Or is there a thread somewhere that my googfu just can't find?

i tried to do this for a phone for mom. it doesnt matter what you do with the phone- verizon has white lists now. if they dont have the ESN in their system, they WILL NOT activate it. you have a sprint ESN, so you will never activate that on verizon no matter how many times you call them.
sucks, i know. I had to buy a verizon m7.
It can be done using a donor phone the same way you would fllash a phone to metropcs. you can find plenty of tutorials online just replace everything metro with sprint.
Any luck on this? I have a Sprint HTC One M8 that I wish to bring over to Verizon. I'm not new to changing ESNs and I understand the legal ramifications of using a service that is unpaid for, so that aside, I'm paying for the service. I had bought the phone intending to switch to Ting, but the IMEI is locked to Sprint for one year from release. I have until April when that gets unlocked, so I figured to use it without the SIM card, since that's what allows 4G LTE usage on CDMA phones, at least from what I am told by people and the phone (once I removed the SIM card it started giving me that message). Hell I'm ok disabling data altogether, but as long as I can make calls and text, I'm jolly.
You could flash them to pageplus although I think they only have 3g.
Pageplus has 4G albeit at a reduced speed but effective 1/15/2015 they will not accept flashed phones anymore

This is illegal and not appropriate conversation on XDA. It's out there though, although I've only seen people flashing phones from Verizon to Page Plus or Sprint to Virgin or Boost. Never seen Sprint to Verizon or vice versa.
I was under the impression that Sprint and Verizon use different signal frequencies, and that the radios installed by HTC during build were specific to the frequency. Yes, they are both CDMA, but different frequencies.
May be a really dumb question.
Looking to get a Note 5 on AT&T but I need it rooted. I understand only Sprint and T-Mobile are rootable. Right now I have a unlocked Tmobile S6 Edge working on AT&T and am curious if a Note 5 from Sprint will also work.
I'm obviously buying the phone outright. I know it will work on Verizon too, but that also, to my understanding, can't be rooting.
Thanks in advance and sorry if it was a dumb question.
No for Sprint, yes for T-Mobile. Sprint runs their network on CDMA system, and AT&T runs their network on GSM. Even though the Sprint Version of the Note 5 technically has a sim card, its hardware is still based on a CDMA setup. The sprint version would not work. However, The T-Mobile version runs on a GSM Network, like AT&T. So providing that you are able to have Domestic SIM Unlock available to you, you would be able to put an AT&T Sim card in the phone and it would work.
I have the same question as you. I have a sprint note 5 and want to take it to at&t since I just got hired with them I get 50% off. I entered the serial number in on att website and its says it will work
actually i have read the new lte phones are dual radio whether they are gsm or cdma. out the box no it will not work on anything other than sprint. getting it unlocked may be a challenge. the sprint nexus 6 comes factory unlocked and is usable on ALL cdma AND gsm networks. now comes the tricky part even if u do have a unlocked phone. unlocked should work for all gsm like your needs. but u can not take a unlocked nexus from att and use it on sprint like you can the other way around. becuase of cdma networks activating off the esn and not the imei. or for that matter using a sprint phone on a verizon service, yes the phone is capable but cdma has to have the esn in the networks database for it to work. verizon and sprint control what devices can be activated since the activation is through the esn and not the sim card. in the old days the straight answer is no way. i would definitely look into it more before deciding on a answer.
its on the internet so it must be true! but seriously, i am not saying your answer is either yes or no, just saying its worth looking into. fwiw i would think its only a matter of time before the root is achieved on all of them.

Has anyone confirmed whether or not a Sprint Note 5 will or will not work on AT&T if it's unlocked?
If you get it unlocked for domestic, yes it will work.
Yes, you can get it unlocked for virtually any carrier. I'm using a Sprint Note 5 on AT&T right now. In fact I'm sending this reply on it. I had it software unlocked (Sprint's a real stickler with their unlocking policy, but even so it's still possible even through them. There are plenty of forums about it. Though there are certain bugs with using it that piss me off like not being able to send MMS while connected to wifi, but I get my full carrier speed. I tested it side by side with an AT&T iphone 6s. Note 5 won massively on the upload time.
I'm helping!
Where did you get it Unlocked!? Please help
Hi everyone,
i got a Sprint HTC One M8 from ebay, it is new but i was planning to use it on AT&T network, since it have a Sim Card Slot. Furthermore, even though i'm living on the US now, i'm from Brazil and i was planning to use the phone there as well.
And now starts the problem.
I called the previous owner, asked him to contact sprint to make the sim unlock procedure. He did so, providing me the MSL for the phone. The next step, he said, was to "flash" the phone on AT&T in order to get it connected to their network. I tried several sims, even bought a new one and activated it but with no success.
I spend almost 2 hours on the phone with the sprint's international support, and all they said was that they did everything that they could about unlocking my phone and now i should contact AT&T.
I'm afraid of staying on this infinite loop and i want your opinion.
Does anyone in fact unlocked their SPRINT phone to use on another GSM US carrier? If yes, what did you do? Because i'm planning to return the phone and ask for my money back.
BUT, with the "International Unlock" i should be able to use the phone on ANY international carrier? Because if that is the case, maybe i keep the phone to use when i go back to Brazil.
Thank you very much!

On the CDMA version of the M8, it lacks the LTE bands needed for Domestic carriers. You can use it overseas somewhat, but not too well. If I was you, I'd grab a Droid Turbo for ~$200-$250 off eBay. It just recently got its bootloader unlocked finally
