Hi all,
I have heard that the Nexus S works with Wiimote controller.apk and that users are succesfully using the wiimotes with their devices.
I am under the impression that both devices have the same bluetooth and wifi chips, does anyone know if any smart person has worked out a way to get the Wiimotes working with galaxy S, or ported the drivers etc?
I am using DArky V8 and BT mouse/keyboard are working well.

Bump. This would be nice to get working with n64oid.
subscribing and bumping! this will be the icing on the cake if we can get this resolved. And no CM7 is not the answer as tv out does not work, at least not at the moment.

I have tried tons of things to get this to work and even killed three rom load outs. simply replacing files wont do it.
as of now with a 2.2 rom you can see the wiimote and get all the way to where you are asked to use a passkey, but the passkey is not skippable. Also the apps that are in the market are no longer either supported or updated, but now that Galaxy S devices have the HID capabilities it would be nice if one of those dev's look at the device to get it to work.
Isn't it something to do with TouchWiz????
I think I read that somewhere
It works in cyanogenmod7.
Any progress

yes but CM7 is not stable yet.
I dont think any1 want to flash a new rom just to play some games with a wiimote and then flash another rom to use the "needed" parts of the phone, like the camera, 2g/3g etc.
To bad i would give a good donation if a dev would support this on the sgs
Any progress?

I know CyanogenMOD is most likely going to be implementing this stack once its comes out on the Vibrant, but Im wondering how difficult it would be if we could port just the old bluez stack to current TouchWiz based Roms like bionix?
Is this is easily feasible? Has it been attempted? If anyone has any thoughts or ideas on this matter then lets fill up this tank!
2.2 will have everything you are asking for. Once we a leak or anything we can port we will have bluetooth hud.

Ive read in the i9000 forums that 2.2 will have bluetooth hid but bluez drivers will still be missing so apps like the wiimote controller will still not work. so im wondering how arduous of a task it would be to implement that specific stack.
In that, I'm not sure.. But I'm sure someone in here has an idea

Not sure, but I had asked this in a couple threads and no-one really had an answer. It does seem possible, but I think the Samsung BT drivers are not compatible with the bluez stack and that is why we still have no wiimote support.
The only option right now is cm7. Wiimote works great on my vibrant. Cm7 is still a little buggy, but very useable as a daily. The bugs right now aren't nearly as bad as the ones that have already been resolved in the day the cm7 vibrant developer has had his vibrant.
Try it out. Having wiimote support has been great, though I can only really see myself using it at home, when I'm near my wii with emulators.

Please, hear our claims! We really want to connect our wiimotes.
Is it so difficult to implement the bluetooth stack?
Just wondering if anyone has been working on porting gingerbread to the galaxy s devices, specifically the capitvate. If so, let me know. I have ported several Roms between different devices. I am looking for someone to work on this project with me. Please let me know if you are interested, or have already began porting. I am a linux software developer and am ready tto get this show on the road. Thanks!

They are the only ones that I am aware of. Have you tried contacting them?
They're both on the same track, and easily built from the same source changes. If you want to help, get up to speed and help the CM7 devs crack the last AOSP issues -- mostly the video driver.
Im working on getting in touch with them to work in sync with them.

Anyone had any luck getting a USB gamepad to work?
I know about the Wiimote, and that works fine. But I have plenty of old computer gamepads lying around that I could use. I tried a few, with the Gamepad IME app, but they don't seem to work (unless I'm missing something).
I'm on Vegan 1.5.1.
Wait for Ice Cream Sandwich
Firstly, you are not on vegan 1.5.1...you are on 5.1.1. I don't think Vegan Tab has great usb support, perhaps the caulkin+clemsyn rom? Try it out and let us know. I know Ice Cream Sandwich is supposed to support all sorts of USB devices like xbox controllers and such. Cant' Wait!

Hrm...thanks, maybe it's not just me.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the Thrive when it comes out, which has Honeycomb. Maybe that will have better support.

Have you looked in the Gtab android development forums lately?
If you have a 360 controller and a kernel that supports pads, Google xpad.ko and view the xda thread.

I downloaded a native android game from the market called "crazy snowboard". With it installed on two andros devices that teesside in the same wifi network; you can set one device as the screen and one as a controller. This is extremely bad ass with my g-tab & evo. ZERO LAG.
Why is there no app that will do this system wide!?

The information on that page doesn't really do a great job as a walkthrough. :/
Then again it wasnt meant to be one.
Is anyone willing to make a more user friendly version? I'm sure the community would be extremely grateful.

I realize, I could have Honeycomb on the gTab, but it's not something I want to do at present. I don't mind changing ROMs, but mostly I just wanted to get to a good one and stick with it.
Vegan-Tab Gingeredition + latest pershoot kernel *.42 (http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2142) + xbox 360 USB pad. I don't know if the analog sticks work, but all the buttons do!
is there any reason why this wouldnt work with a froyo kernel like vegan 5.1?
The kernel modules aren't pre-built for that with the kernel that comes with froyo. Had to use the latest pershoot. Don't know if that kernel would work with froyo....
So I downloaded netflix from the market, and it says in the list of supported devices that the HTC Thunderbolt is one. Now it does install and accepts your username password, you can see your qeue and it attemps to play the vid, but fails with a DRM required message. any one else seeing this? if you search for it it will not appear, but if you select apps, all apps, free apps then scroll down its listed. click install and try to enjoy a mostly usable app.

Yeah I know the rooted custom roms will run of just fine. But I'm just enjoying my stock bolt after coming from a pos Samsung captivate.

yep no go for me also. Someone on Android Central claims his works on stock but yeah general consensus says other wise.
Mine works on CM7 perfectly! I did a search for Netflix it found and downloaded fine. Logged in and started a movie!

it will never work on stock or rooted froyo for the thunderbolt (at least not without netflix directly supporting it). person that said it did on that forum is full of it. amount of effort to make it work would not be worth it. GB will be out soon and nearly everyone has it already on here. Anyone who wont root to get netflix obviously doesnt want it bad enough

Ok ok, im not a dev, but.... Look at the LG Revolution. It is running 2.2.1 and netflix runs perfectly out of the box. in my ignorance, I dont know why it would be any more dificult to modify it to work with other froyo devices. Im sure one of the software type bullys will pick me appart here.. By the way... XDA isn't a friendly place any more. boo to flamers... (will probably get flamed for that) HA

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

I just installed Netflix on my stock TB & it works very well. It was a little glitchy for the first 3-4 seconds, maybe 5, but after that, clear as a bell. No complaints here. About damn time...
Netflix app was just updated again!!! Everyone that had issues before try it out!
Yep update seems to fixed the play back issue.... WOOT!
Yep, confirmed working here too. Stock Froyo unrooted, latest update.
Confirmed. Just updated. Netflix now streaming on stock Thunderbolt. Thank God!!!

I never said all of froyo...I said thunderbolt + froyo. However, I am glad to see that it looks like netflix finally fixed it for the thunderbolt on froyo (the only way I said it would ever work for it).

Uninstall, download from market & reinstall.
I never understood the appeal of watching netflix on a cell phone. I tried it a couple of times & never finished the movie. Tablets & netbooks are much better suited for that job, imho

Right now im using CM7 (O3D) and im currently using the sixaxis controller to play emulators. I would like to go back to go back to Froyo or GB but sixaxis only seems to work on CM7 (to my knowledge) is there another bluetooth controller app I could use for froyo/GB??
I went to use it on Froyo and GB and the only thing that stopped me was needing root (which I didn't/don't have) so I believe it works on all roms as long as you have root.
No I was wondering what controller app I could use for froyo/GB cause sixaxis app didn't work on those roms
Sent from my LG Thrill or is it LG O3D?? idk I can't make up my mind :-/
The one by Dancing Pixel Studios? I can't imagine it being so limited that it doesn't work on any Froyo or GB. I mean, the description does mention that it doesn't work on all devices and even offers the tester tool to find out but to be strictly rom based just blows my mind. I guess my question is what makes you think it doesn't work on Froyo/GB? You seemed pretty unsure about it.

I know it doesn't work because every time I start it up it reboots my phone lol and that's for both froyo and GB.
That sucks.
I tried it and it also reboots my phone.
