Hi,
I just did the additional market fix, adding the Samsung fingerprint to build.prop, and now I can see tv.com, whereas before I couldn't, but I still can't see Splashtop.
I used the following fingerprint in build.prop:
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/SGH-T849/SGH-T849/SGH-T849:2.2/FROYO/UVJJB:user/release-keys
Can you check in /system/build.prop (it's a text file) and see what the "ro.build.fingerprint..." parameter is, and if it's different from the above, post it?
Thanks,
Jim
P.S. FYI, I'm on stock TNT 3452...
From my build.prop...
# ro.build.fingerprint=nvidia/harmony/harmony/harmony:2.2/FRF91/20101123.172729:eng/test-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2/FRF91/43546:user/release-keys
Again, I'm on Vegan b5.
Also, I've played around a bit w/ this file getting swype to install so it's probably not the default build.prop for my version of Vegan.
Hope this helps
Another question
I guess that I should have also asked: Has anyone used this on Android?
The reason I'm interested in it is that I want to be able to watch Netflix on my Gtab, and was hoping this would work for the audio and video. However, when I looked on their website, the Android version is "1.0", but they also say in another document that "1.1.1.1" is needed for audio.
So, has anyone used this on their Gtab, and can you stream audio and video with it?
Thanks,
Jim

FYI the version in the market is 1.0.0.3
I wonder if this is any better than Pocket Cloud which is what I use. It works fine but I can't seem to get a decent screen size. I had the same problem with VNC.

Hi,
I still don't see it in market, even after using your fingerprint in build.prop ...
I've been testing pocketcloud also, but I think only the paid version does audio/video, so I haven't been able to test that yet. Have you tried that (audio/video streaming) via pocketcloud?
Also, are you using the paid or free version? Can you explain what you meant about decent screen size? I tried it against a Win7 machine, and it seemed to work ok.
Jim
Sorry you're having problems.
I've got the free version of pocket cloud and to be honest, never used it for streaming. I just use it to access my desktop (W7 64) when I need to check on a download or something I've got running on it. I usually RDP into it from my laptop and would love to be able to do the same with my Gtab.
Regarding screen size, what I mean is that the only options for me are 1.) a floating full size screen, or 2.) a full screen that only takes up about 3/4 of the Gtab screen. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the free version, but I had the same problem with VNC and I tried the pro version of that as well. I can still get the job done with either, it's just not optimal for me. I'm pretty sure that I'm just doing something wrong or have a setting wrong, but it's really no big deal.
As for streaming, I've had the most success with Cifs Manager. Works like a champ for every video file I've tried to play using either ArcMedia or Rockplayer. Or should I say every file I've proven to work via the internal SDcard. 1080p files stutter over the network but they also stutter when played directly from the tab. I just mount my media folder in Cifs and every app treats it a just another folder on my tab.

Hi,
I just tried Netflix using pocketcloud (free), and I think that that wouldn't work. It looks like Silverlight won't run via RDP. So, I guess that even if the paid version of pocketcloud was able to stream audio, it wouldn't work for what I was looking for (Netflix).
Hopefully someone will be able to suggest something for getting Splashtop, and then I'll see if that'll work.
Re. thanks for the clarification. I guess I just use the floating configuration myself.
Jim
Hi,
I tried the market fix and with the two different fingerprints in build.prop, with both the old Vending.apk and the new Vending.apk, and I still can't get Splashtop to appear in the Market.
I'm thinking that even though I changed the fingerprint, it's not picking up the new one, and maybe I need to somehow get Market back to the point that I get to enter my email address, etc., but does anyone know how to do that?
Thanks,
Jim
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android Market/thread?tid=72687bc93eba9a1b&hl=en
I found the above. In a post from nprussell, he says that besides the fingerprint in build.prop, /system/etc/permissions can stop apps from appearing.
Can someone who has Vegan check /system/etc/permissions, and post what files are there?
Jim
I just did a factory reset, then replaced the build.prop before installing market, and Splashtop is STILL not appearing !
Does anyone knowvehy sit-down appear in market on Vegan, but not on stock 3452?
Jim
I also found another fingerprint line for Droid, and tried that in build.prop, but still can't see Splashtop. Also can't see things like Tank Hero, etc.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm kind of thinking that it's something other than the build.prop fingerprint ...
Jim
I also just tried one more thing: I created an emulator and added Market to it. But, it's still showing exactly the same thing, no Splashtop and no Tank Hero ...
Jim
Jim, it's gotta be something in your ROM that's preventing these apps from appearing. I was able to find Tank Hero and Tank Hero Beta.
I've got 11 .xml files in my permissions folder. Looked thru a few of them but I really don't know what to look for.
Here's my permissions folder. (sorry, too lazy to figure out screenshots w/ adb)
PM me if you'd like a copy of any of them.

Hi,
Thanks for the followup.
I'll have to take a look at those, but I think I had less than the 11 you have.

Hi,
So here's what I have in permissions:
$ ls -l
ls -l
-rw-r--r-- root root 180 2010-09-13 11:58 com.google.android.maps.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 862 2010-10-08 10:01 android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 171 2010-10-17 11:39 com.nvidia.graphics.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 810 2010-10-08 10:01 android.hardware.camera.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 486 2010-10-20 20:31 gdata.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 169 2010-10-17 11:39 com.nvidia.display.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 8188 2010-09-13 11:58 platform.xml
-rw-r--r-- root root 827 2011-01-07 14:34 features.xml
$
I noticed that you don't have a gdata.xml. Here's the contents on my system:
$ cat gdata.xml
cat gdata.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<permissions>
<library name="com.google.gdata.contacts"
file="/system/framework/gdata-contacts-3.0.jar"/>
<library name="com.google.gdata.client"
file="/system/framework/gdata-client-1.0.jar"/>
<library name="com.google.gdata.core"
file="/system/framework/gdata-core-1.0.jar"/>
<library name="com.google.collect"
file="/system/framework/google-collect-1.0-rc1.jar"/>
</permissions>
I wonder if that might be something?
On my emulator, there's only a single XML file, platform.xml.
Hmmm...

Tony,
I've been comparing your permissions vs. mine, and also just found this:
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/market-filters.html
Question (and you may or not answer - up to you): Are you in the U.S.? Just wondering because that page mentions that market filters on location, and I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities.
It looks like the XML files in permissions that I don't have are:
android.hardware.camera.autofocus
android.hardware.sensor.accelerometer
android.hardware.wifi
handheld.core_hardware
I'm assuming that you have the accelerometer XML because Vegan has the gsensor fix. Not sure about the others though.
There are also size differences in a couple of the XML files (yours vs. mine).
Can you PM me those 4 files above?
Thanks,
Jim

Shidell's Android 2.1 Eclair Port for the Vogue
After spending nearly every free hour of the last three weeks (and since 10:00 AM Saturday, it's now 5:40 AM Sunday.. so nearly the last 18 hours straight?) I've finally learned enough about linux and Android to present what I consider an excellent Eclair 2.1 port for the Vogue.
This port is based off of Manup456's work, and includes API level 7 support natively. I hope to be developing with Eclipse shortly, as I have other aspirations on an API-level for Android. (...I'm starting to think I have too many aspirations. )
But, before anything else...
Thanks to:
Plemen. Inspired me with his AOSP builds, and helped me in the very beginning with a few small questions.. just enough to get my feet wet.
Zenulator. Provided literature in the form of guides not only on Android, but on ADB, internals, theming, and more--as well as answered questions. I'd still be researching what a binary file is in linux without Zen, let alone able to present this build now.
Jamezelle. How many questions have you helped me with? lol.
dumbestcrayon. Showed me a fixed GenieWidget.apk from Nexus One, which I've incorporated into v1.1. Do something thoughtful, take a moment right now and send him a message on behalf of the MSM7k users, and thank him.
tatnai. Thanks much for taking the time to assist people with this build, including ext2-related questions, and packaging it/making it available.
Also, thanks to all of you who have encouraged me both publically and privately to continue expanding. It is appreciated.

Features:
Android 2.1 Eclair (API: 7)
Android 2.1 sliding unlock screen
Voice/3G connectivity immediately upon first boot (give it a minute or so)--no reboot required
Nexus One boot animation
Updated wallpapers (including "Live Wallpapers"--Not yet functional, but incorporated)
Nexus One ringtones, notifications & alarms
Includes the latest GPS library improvement from Dzo (in testing, but appears to lock fast and be accurate as of 1-19-2010)
Extra software: Gmail & Mail clients, Market, Music, Corporate Calendar, GenieWidget (Nexus One Weather/Sports app. & widget), Gallery, YouTube (Nexus One) & Spare Parts
Limitations:
Bluetooth non-functional
Tethering (wired & wireless) unsupported by current kernel
Camera does not work
Voice Search/Dial isn't working (need an updated audio library for Eclair, but apps are included so once available, you can replace your .so library files and use them.)
Power collapse isn't completely working--this is an existing issue with Eclair builds and the current audio libraries
Notes:
Be sure to use the latest base files before attempting this build. GPS may not work unless using the 1-19-2010 NAND/zImage from Dzo's site. Dzo has made improvements to the kernel to help get more accurate results via GPS
LCD Density = 110 (for now, we're testing.) HaRET users be sure to set this manually; for NAND users, it's automatically incorporated.
I haven't tested this via HaRET, only via NAND--thus, I can't provide much support for ext2/HaRET users. if you do use HaRET, please report back on how this works for you, and try to assist others
This build basically fills the capacity of NAND's limits (about 88 mb. of data)--be patient when it's starting with the boot animation
This build contains both the standard English and Chinese input keyboards--long press on an input box (I.E. Text Message) and select "Android Keyboard" to set it to English
Please be sure to leave comments in the thread if you try this build. Thanks!

Download -- v1.1, 1-19-2010 (.ext2 and .sqsh links fixed):
Removed: Voice Search, Voice Dial (without audio library support, they're just taking up precious space), Maps (easily available from the market, this chews up almost 5 mb. and I only have 88 to work with, so please download it post-setup), "Cube" Live Wallpaper (OK tech demo, but not very flashy. Pulled to save space.)
Added: Corporate Calendar )), Gallery3D instead of the original Gallery (a bit slower, please comment on your thoughts/preferences), GenieWidget App/Widget for weather/news from Nexus One, and YouTube from Nexus One. Additionally, I've packaged all of the Live Wallpapers from Nexus One. They aren't working yet, but once we've got the hold up cleared, I'll enable them.
Live Wallpaper: This is working, other than the Nexus One wallpapers. Search for "Live Wallpaper" on the Market, there's a few to pick from. I personally enjoy "Starfield".
GPS: The current GPS library incorporated with this build has debugging enabled, so it will write data to a file on your SD card. This shouldn't take up much space. You can remove this at will. This is simply a disclaimer and a notification of what to expect.
System_v1.1_1-19-2010.ext2.zip
System_v1.1_1-19-2010.sqsh.zip
Download -- v1.2, 1-24-2010:
Removed: Gallery3D (Slow, doesn't run correctly)
Added: Original (2D) Gallery
GPS: Updated to use v1.5 of the GPS library, which is another monumental step forward. jnadke is making great strides in improving our GPS library, and Google Navigation should work nicely in this build.
System: Modified lcd density from 120 to 110; this allows for the Dialer and the Music application to fit the screen correctly, as well as provides for a bit more room in certain apps (like Messaging) which were previously crowded. This does cause some other apps to display things a bit awkwardly, such as Menus, which can cut off a bit of top text.
Give it a shot, and post your opinions. Thanks to tatnai for the recommendation.

Thanks for your hard work man.
Lookin forward to run this build.
Looking forward to using it. The download links look to point to the same file. Is this right? I'm looking for the SQSH.
going to give this a go with haret and post back, downloading now. will system.ext work with haret without ext2 partitions - i know, it's embarrassing, I have yet to partition my sd card; maybe I should do that today lol? also, is libgps.so actually included in the system file - I assume I have to load it in the rootfs using adb or terminal, right?
yeah, I think you were a bit tired, shidell, looks like your two links point to the same file, lol. strong work, thanks shidell, look forward to testing!
oh one last thing - tethering should work using PDAnet, I think it uses adb to do it, so as long as adb works it should.
EDIT: system.ext2 works fine with haret without partitions . . . that nexus boot animation sure is cool
Awesome work Shidell
Can you fix the dowload link for the sqsh file. It points to the ext2.
Thank you
I'd like to ask if the camera is working or not on this build.
Maybe someone can refresh my memory - is using the EXT file different from using the SQSH? Or can I just swap one of the other?
Are you saying that tethering via tetherbot doesn't work in this build?

I keep getting cannot read default text from Haret??? Probably something stupid on my part. I have an Eclair build running so I do understand some of this. But if one of you great members could share what files you are using it would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Do you need rename the system.ext2 extension?
I am using the following:
rootfs-2010-01-06a
system.ext2
zImage-14-01-10
initrd.gz 16-11-09
Last message I see is "failed to allocate the storage". What am I doing wrong?
I run Eclair 2.01 now via Haret. I downloaded the latest linked zImage and rootfs.img. I have system.ext2 - previously I have always used SQSH.
Thoughts?

you are using rootfs from 1/7/10. this version does not seem to work with haret. use 1/6/10a.
Excellent work.
Can you please fix the link to the sqsh file in the first post?
It appears both go to the ext2 link.
Thanks
I have a running package of Shidell's eclair, if someone wants it, I can upload whole deal (zImage, default.txt, rootfs...etc.) somewhere. I don't have any filesharing account.
quick notes, running from sd card without partitions:
1. audio: was hopeful, but looks like we have to wait on lib.audio changes for voice search/dialer and speakerphone. question for those using sd card with partitions or nand and rootfs 1/7/10 - does speakerphone, voice dialer/search work for you? (and does rootfs 1/7/10 work for sd card w/ partitions?). may have to flash to nand if rootfs 1/7/10 fixes the lib.audio for eclair . . .
2. love the lock screen!
3. Market: just like donut, must first boot 320x480 to see all free apps in market. can then switch to 240x320. ideal lcd.density appears to be 110 at 240x320, this allows you to see what you are typing in Messaging, and allows the notification bar not to be screwed up (120 is fine for the notification bar, but you can't see anything you are typing in Messaging).
4. other: small enhancements here and there with 2.1 (dialer, contacts, haptic feedback, messaging, etc). i see accuracy noted now in maps without doing anything special, seems like the 1.3 libgps.so is in the system? haven't tried driving with it.
5. my orange sleep LED is not blinking. i don't think my phone is sleeping... I think this is why we don't have the wake-up problem (multiple presses to wake the phone up). have not tried the hacked zimage.
Great work Shidell! Love this build.

i'm not sure I believe that market enabler actually does anything to the missing market apps for donut and above anymore. why?
1. after booting 320x480, getting full market, then going to 240x320 and using market enabler religiously, after 4-5 days my market still reverts back to having missing apps.
2. after booting a data.img at 240x320, I ran market enabler before entering my google account stuff. missing market apps still missing (paid apps yes, but no pandora, no google listen, no pdanet, no weather channel etc etc).
but i'm willing to be a believer. i'm going to fire this up in 240x320 with a brand spanking new data file and see what rolls. I think we need to find a way to fake resolution to google to avoid missing apps, as the market enabler/t-mobile footprint thing seems to only work for paid apps. waiting to stand corrected though . . . will post back.

This build won't show you the apps for different resolutions - just gives you the full market (as market enabler would) for 320 x 240; I'll have to correct the wording to avoid confusion.

love the build, fast as usual. I see you are feeling lcd.density of 113, I like it. love the animations as well. yeah, to me "full market" means everything - only way to get that, it seems, is booting a fresh data file at 320x480. I should work on a fix for that . . .
absolutely love it! same stable build as last time, updated. With bluetooth and fully functional gps, there is really not much more that I could ask for! For my phone and my use, this build is far and away the fastest out there, very smooth. Everything just fits right on the screen too. Nothing fancy but 100% usable.
Love that you have paid apps enabled by default too.
Tatnai, you figure out how to fix the market / resolution issue and I don't think there is a single thing left we can complain about...as small of an annoyance as it is.
Thanks Plemen! great work as usual
i´ve installed this version to my polaris and it runs very nice and fast. thanks!
just a few things i noticed:
- data connection works
- camera works
- wifi doesn´t work
- market doesn´t work (always getting a server error message)
- coundn´t test bluetooth yet
wifi not working is a big issue for me since i don´t have a data-plan. hope this gets fixed in the future

I'm not sure what enabling wifi for the polaris entails - I only have a vogue but if somebody sends me the info I'll add an update and add it to the first post.
Any body got google voice to work on this build?
Mine installed fine, but then keep force closing.

getting that too. going to try clearing my dalvik cache again and re-installing, I wonder if the new footprint has anything to do with it? if what I'm doing now doesn't work, I may try replacing the build.prop with another footprint, will post back.
EDIT 1: ok, i pulled myns build.prop and dumped it in, google voice works again. I don't know if it is the carrier settings (could be) or maybe the lcd.density (don't think so, unlikely but I guess possible; I know I've used 113 before and I don't recall it causing a problem). I've got to go to bed (my wife's about to kill me) so I can't test anymore. Someone should try google voice with myns build.prop changed to 113, and with plemen's changed to 110. I'll assume that plemen's is going to still force close at 110 cause I think it may be the carrier settings. then we'll need to figure out which setting in particular.

Wow, Google is on a roll with the Android Market lately. Since the release of Market v3.0, a number of small updates have come to the Android Market recently, but this is by far the biggest yet. Google has added the long-awaited +1 functionality to the Android Market (which has been on the web version of the Market for quite some time), along with a few other goodies.
There's a brand-new settings menu, as well as click-to-read explanations of app permissions (not developer customizable, unfortunately). There's also a brand-new Market icon to spruce things up a bit, which you can see most clearly in the Settings menu. For convenience's sake, the size in megabytes of each app, along with its latest update date, have been moved from the bottom of descriptions to the top of individual app pages, which is a very useful change in our book.
Oh, and did we mention you can now use an optional custom PIN for purchases on your phone, instead of leaving your Google Checkout wide open for anyone that picks up your device? If you have kids, or your phone is stolen, this is one awesome feature to have - and really, it makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully this fixes our market woes!
I think I'll lay back a while and let someone else tale point on this. I was burned being and "early adopter" on the last "new" market and I wound up going back to the "old" market, freezing updater and looking for updates manually with AppBrain.
If this works well for others, then I'll try again. All you "red-shirts" fan out and set phasers to "stun".
Downloading now. I'll post with any updates.
No go this is what I got.

Aye aye captain!
Going to try it soon momentarily....
So far, so good. It's so BIG! Not the file size, but the layout.
The "my apps" page is definately different. I just hope it stays put without clearing data.
Still blocking the same apps as before. Back to the old market I go!

I haven't used the new market yet; ill let it update on its own. However, I'm still with a flawless market 3.0.27 after 6 days now, with dpi at 240.
So the question bears asking: why are we (or at least I) fully compatible at 240 and not at 160? What are we missing? Is it a gingerbread thing? Is there an artifact from B&N or froyo hiding somewhere? Is it a CM7 thing?
SOMETHING makes the market think we must operate at 240. Setting 160 seems to confuse it at least until it updates its data, but it is definitely not confused about 240.
So again, my question: why? It makes me wish I knew more about android.
Challenge to anyone: list an app that isn't showing up for you at 160, I bet I can see and install any of them. Would just be further demonstration that market believes we ought to be at 240.
Edit: no I'm not saying we should all switch to 240. Personally I dislike the larger icons. I am saying that maybe we need to find a way to trick the market into seeing 240, while keeping our devices at 160.
Tried Market, Questions about new build.
I tried the new market on my G2 and hated certain elements. Do they still have games mixed in with apps (and its own folder)? If Google finds a way to sort that (like the old market) and perhaps allow users the ability to hide tabs like movies or books, I'd try it again on nook.

Day 7 240 just crashed for me. com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly.
Haven't tried on my nook yet but it fixed all my alignment issues on my phone. Too soon to see if it fixed any of my other issues.
Oh well. Running at 160, "my apps" is a blank screen over 1 night. Guess I'll be clearing cache to use the market still. Not really that big of a deal, but it would be nice not having to do this one extra step.
edit: clearing data
I loaded the 'new' last eve, everything seemed ok, but this morning, my apps are blank again. I have dpi 160.
Can you install Repligo Reader?

OK... when this post first came out I manually installed market 3.1.3 from OP... after trying many combinations I finally came up with the following work around... I have not lost anything in market SO FAR... If this continues to work I will include the additional build.prop edits as a feature of my IMEI Generator.
The following are my ONLY build.prop edits:
Code:
(added at [b]TOP OF build.prop[/b] from IMEI Generator via my !IMEIme.ini):
ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung
ro.product.device=GalaxyS
ro.product.model=SCH-I500
(manually added at [b]END OF build.prop[/b]):
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi=240
ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi=240
With these edits... my market is working normally for now AND LCD Density still shows my density set at 161.
More to come one way or another.

Dizzy, can you provide more insight into what you're hoping to accomplish? Did you comment out the qemu line so it doesn't override your following ro. lines during runtime (which as I understand is what the qemu line is supposed to do)?

I am trying to work around ACTUALLY setting density to 240 while tricking market into THINKING it is.
OK, so this isn't mine per say, I've just twiddled some of the stuff to get it working on the DHD. I got most of it from anantshri (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074169).

Anyhow, here's what we need to do.
Download the file and unpack it to /sdcard/bt so you end up with
/sdcard/bt/bt
/sdcard/bt/bt.img
/sdcard/bt/installbt.sh
/sdcard/bt/startbt
/sdcard/bt/stopbt
Install Terminal from market if you haven't already, while your at it download Android VNC.
Fire up terminal and type the following commands :-
su
cd /sdcard/bt
sh ./installbt.sh
sh ./startbt
sh ./bt
That will launch the bash terminal, you may get a bunch of Ansi characters, don't worry, just type.
ui
Make a note of the port that VNC Server gets, it's almost always 5901
(Obviously if you want to, all those commands can be run from the ADB Shell)
Leave terminal there, and fire up Android VNC, and use
Nickname : Whatever you like
Password : 12345678
Address : 127.0.0.1
Port : 5901
Colour Format : 24-bit
Click connect, and hey presto, Backtrack 5, with most of the 'desktop' stuff up and running, including Firefox.
Oh, if the phone is on WiFi, then your quiet capable of using it from a desktop VNC client, just use the phone IP instead of 127.0.0.1
Shutting it all down,
Close VNC Viewer
in terminal :
killui
exit
bash stopbt
exit
Probably best to give the phone a reboot, so either type reboot or however you fancy doing it.
Note : all passwords are 12345678
You can use all the standard Linux commands, so passwd will change the root password, vncpasswd will change the VNC server one.
Repository's can be added to apt-get in the usual way's, and apt-get install works just fine as long as there is an ARM build in the repo.
Any problems let me know, I'll see what can be done.
I've tested this on a few kernels, and ROMs and nit had any issues, let me know if a combo doesn't work.
NOTE : this is a DESKTOP OS running on your phone, don't expect laptop like performance, and battery life will suffer! Clocking up the processor is noticed certainly. Having said that, it all works rather well, but for all intense and purpose, this is a Virtual Machine. If your using a Daemon or SetCPU to set processor with screen off IT STILL APPLIES, so I would set it to not turn the screen off if your remote connecting into the phone from a PC
If anyone has any suggestions for Distro's to use, then let me know.
This looks great.. But how do install flash player?
I'll have a look, but doubt Adobe have one for ARM, however bet there is something. I'll have a look into getting Gnash working.
OK, most of the repositories are turned off, so we need to do the following
gedit /etc/apt/sources.list and unhash all the repositories so we can use them.
apt-get install git-core we need git to install from
Now we have a few choices, Gnash or swfdec. Both have not really been optimized for us, but hey. If you want to try out swfdec, then pull it from git and compile it. I'll go for the easier option (as it's in apt-get)
apt-get update might take a while, so have a coffee
apt-get install gnash it should pull everything down from the lucid repo
apt-get install mozilla-plugin-gnash the mozilla plugin
apt-get install ffmpeg needed for the various codecs
pop along to youtube, and play the xda-developers newb video (http://www.youtube.com/user/xdadevelopers#p/u/40/JmvCpR45LKA) this will initiate the h264 codec search. Let it finish and install the gstreamer-ffmpeg one.
Close and re-open FireFox and you should be up and running
A note though, don't expect any sort of decent performance, for one your doing this on a device it's not made for, and most importantly, via VNC protocol!
Note : Chromium-browser installs and runs, but doesn't display anything, even though things are click-able on the page, V odd, goto google.com and click and you will see it goes to whatever the google logo is pointing at today, just doesn't show it. I'll dig into that.
Also, it might be worth cleaning up a little now, so run apt-get autoremove just make a note of the packages it's removed just in case
Other Applications that work (Please leave a note in the thread if your successful on something)
apt-get install chromium-browser - Works, but has render issues (no pages show), think it's a VNC issue, investigating.
apt-get install gimp - works fine, although screen real estate is an issue
apt-get install vlc - works, but pretty pointless over vnc
apt-get install filezilla - works fine
apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras - works fine

No problems, like I say, not my work really, I've just modified it to work with the DHD properly, oh and added a couple of packages etc.
Don't spose there's any chance of getting my paws on the DHD BootManager is there
Wow, thought this would be popular, oh well. I'll update the first post when I get new stuff working, so those that do want to try this out keep an eye on that.
Going to give this a go now, if I can free up enough space on my SD card. Thanks.
Edit: I get "/bin/bash: line 3: ui: command not found" when I get to the bit to start the VNC server?
Another Edit: Working now, when I first tried to use the terminal emulator it would only type in caps. So I downloaded Android Terminal from the market. I didn't get the [email protected] prompt using this, tried Terminal emulator again and this time it worked. For some reason though, sometimes when I open Terminal Emulator it will only let me type in caps?
Had the caps issue myself, usually killing and re loading sorts it.
Might be worth copying the scripts to a numeric name so, 1 2 etc, then doesn't matter if caps or not.

This sounds nice but i have a question since im not very knowledgeable ...wouldnt ubuntu work better ?
Ubuntu hasn't got a massive ARM catalogue, where BT has because of it's security roots. However it wouldn't be all that difficult to switch it over.
Does the Backtrack session have access to the rmnet0 (Cell network internet) connection?
If so, it should be possible to do MITM attacks yes?
Not tried, but yea should be able to, has network access via the radio stack. Let me know, would be interesting.
Also works on Desire Z confirmed.
Any chance of re-uploading the file somewhere? Link is dead
sorry,but i've tried my best. how do i fix /bin/bash: line 1: ui: command not found
thanx in advance
File systems
How do i mound the sdcard so i can see files there?
Can someone please tell me what kernel should I use for this to work? I've read somewhere that you need a kernel that supports loopback, i don't know what that is.
I'm currently on SVHD rom (Pacha kernel), and it doesn't work.
Thank you.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the SD files & apk for this game?
I play it on my HTC sensation XE perfectly but I would love it on my tablet for obvious reasons.
It seems I can find the SD data for nearly every other gpu apart from MALI
to install this game, you must edit the file "prop built" with a file explorer type "root explorer" ..... We need to edit the file and modify the model of the machine ... ex ... .. GT-6800...by GT-1000 ... ..... see the "screenshot"

can you still manage to play it like that or did you just uninstal like me? surely there must be a version that will work properly on our tab somewhere??
Version of the play store, is ok for me ...all is ok on my slate....magnific! best car's game , i'll seen on pda....
Do you have a 7.7 galaxy tab?
If so, are you saying if i do what micger21 says it will work ok?
I will need a big thank you....
You can run this fine with no build.prop changes, please dont do that or might brick your devices....I did
OK, firstly....
Get on Google and search for the RealRacing2 version 1.11.02.000366 .apk or just Real Racing 2 366....this will work on your tablet perfectly!
Then I have the data for you if you want but this was also easy to find on Google.
If someone can show me where to upload it I will do so I also found that most data will work but will also need to download a little from the net to make it work propperly if not already working 100%
The only thing I find wrong with the game is the buttons will have to pressed just above the actual button instead but very playable....
Please ask me about this if you having trouble, I have got this game working on the most un-workable tablets and its easy
Have a good day!
By changing the "built prop" as I said, it allows me to see the application appear in the "play store" and able to download and install it .... There is no risk of brickage tablet by this operation. (see the post about asphalt 6 in the application menu for the forum 7.7). I followed the same tutorial for "Real Racing2" and it worked for me. My version of the game is V.1.11.42 (000640)
......and sorry for ma langage...i use a traductor.....

just one question - when done your way - do the buttons appear properly and the menu etc etc?
as i said previously i have it working right now but you have to press just above menu buttons to click them as all the graphics are mis-aligned - having said that everything is perfect while racing. I would rather have everything working perfectly though...
Yes ...all is ok for me with the appli.....ras
Yes you can change the build.prop...
But if you go look at the forum about asphalt 5 you will see some have bricked there tabs....not saying you will.
Also there are draw backs, you might not have the full hd version or the correct version of game....as reported in your post above for the asphalt 5
do it at your own risk, i would rather download the apk from google and load it and play full hd correctly and no playing with build.prop.
Thank you
mine works no problem with no mods and i have all the games and more ypu say can work your build.prop way and i have bricked mine doing it...no joke
---------- Post added at 07:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 PM ----------
Plus....sorry, was on the play store with my tab and the game real racing was available for download and purchase....so why change the build.prop?
1) If i go to google play with my p6810 as it is RR2 does not appear in the shop
2) I changed build.prop as per first suggestion. It did not brick my tablet but RR2 did appear in the play store....but it wasn't free and i was worried if i paid for it it would be the wrong version for my tab anyway...plus i just didnt wanna pay for it
3) if someone has got this to work properly with all menu items etc showing properly in hd etc then there must be somewhere i can download the sd data from right??

If I do not change the "built prop" .... the "playstore tells me that my tablet is not compatible with this game ... that's why I changed the" built ".... . Indeed, this is a your own risk ..... but I do not think there is great risk.
Sorry man,
I just have to say a few things...
1) You dont want to pay for a game you will be able to play from the play store....
2) You dont want the game to work 100% while racing and 99% while selecting option buttons (Which I have no problem doing....the sensors are just above the buttons if you didnt know yet)
3) IMO you might as well sell your tablet if this is the case as you will never be happy!!!
Pay for what you want or download it, but you will have to test and do more tests to get the correct thing you want.
Happy hunting my friend

I got this from a few forums....Just so you know...
This is not mine below and I stil think changing build.prop is not a good move....and I know its not for the 7.7 but its an example
"To get more stuff in the market to show up, you can try to change the following in your build.prop:
ro.product.device=ventana
ro.product.board=ventana
ro.build.fingerprint=acer/picasso_generic1/ventana:3.0.1/HRI66/eng.hermit.20110329.214429:user/release-keys
Once you change these reboot and cross your fingers, if it comes back up clear the cache on your market app and you may have to wipe dalvik and the cache partition if apps fc. (There's an app that will let do this, but requires root)
Again do this at your own risk! Changing these values to the above in your build.prop will make everything think you're running an A500. I have not tested these, but they should work (good chance though of giving you a soft brick, so be prepared!)
If anyone wants to be a gineapig and has a working restore method you can test this along with the other change I posted earlier to change the device model. "
