Hi guys,
I am new to this forum.
I just bought my New Samsung Galaxy S with Orange UK network which is network locked.
PDA : I9000BVJG2
PHONE : I9000BVJF3
CSC : I9000RAJG2
Firmware:2.1-update1
Build number: ECLAIR.BVJG2
I have unlocked this mobile in INDIA. So, now can I update my SGS to latest version of FROYO?? Some of them said that as I have unlocked my SGS if I update it there is a possibility of locking the phone. Is it true?? If so please suggest me an alternative of how to update my SGS to updated FROYO without locking my SGS.
Phone is Orange UK phone so if Orange UK have an update to Froyo it will update via Kies firmware update .
Locked or unlocked makes no difference the server reads the phones embedded data product code = Orange UK .

Thanks jjE
Can you provide me with the link for orange update to froyo please
Read your instruction manual use Kies softwate to upgrade or go to an Oranfe service centre .

I wonder what determines the upgrade information through Kies?
for example, my phone is from UK orange and locked orignially. The production code is i9000HKDORA. Original firmware: BVJM5/BVJM1/ORAJM3
Does Kies only search the firmware based on the production code only? or need other information together, such as current firmware information?
My current firmware is: XXJF1/XXJF1/XAJF1. I cannot upgrade through Kies although Orange announced the new firmware is available through Kies.
Thanks,
product code = goes to the correct server for Orange
Current firmware code decides upgrade or not .
Both need to orange codes to upgrade .

Well, the upgrade exists for austria/3 now, but I cannot upgrade...
My product code was HKDDBT originally, and even if I change it (nv_data.bin) to the "correct" one - HKDDRE, and have the same firmware version as my dad (who was able to update), it won't let me upgrade...
So, we've called the service center and they said they have no idea, but I can bring in my phone and they'll update it...
So... I guess they do it randomly...

I am not an Orange user and have no Orange firmware .
If you have flashed to unofficial non Orange firmware you need to downgrade the phone via ODIN to Eclair then try to update to latest Orange firmware via KIES firmware update .

Hi,
I'm a brazilian beginner in Android.
I can't update my SGS with KIES, even using the Patcher.
Using the version KIES 1.5.3.10103.102 and Kies Patcher 1.7 , it shows no upgrade to my phone.
I bought it on EUA, it's unlocked.
PDA: JG5
Phone: JG7
CSC: JG4
Frmware version: 2.1 update 1
kernel version: 2.6.29 latin.umtsAsamsung#2
Eclair.ubjg5
Does someone could help me? What could be happening?
I really want to upgrade to FROYO via KIES.
Thanks in advance

Please post a question in the correct section.Q&A

Has your network a Froyo update .Network as in the original network provider that the product code is tied to .
jje
Sorry, i thought here was the correct section.
How can i check about you said of network?
Thanks
Ask your network .
jje
JJE,
Even my SGS been UNLOCKED?
Thanks
If you can figure out what the firmware for your region is for Froyo you can update it using Odin even if you particular network provider doesn't have an update available for your particular phone.
Your phone branded = xxx Froyo update via Kies for that brand .
Unlocked is Sim only phones product code remains with original network seller .
Unlocking is only removing restiction to use a network .
If you have Sim for ZZZ on a XXX branded unlocked phone the product code for the phone and firmware is still the original xxxx and will update to that via Kies .
Other methods strictly speaking void your warranty .
Want firmware for the network you are on then Kies Registry patcher and spoof the product code to your new network .
Or via Odin use a generic non branded Samsung firmware to update .

I want to update just with KIES, like a official update. i have some fear about use ODIN.
JJE: I will try differents code on Kies Patcher to see with it recognizes the update. Thank you very much.
JJE:
I tried all codes of BRAZIL but nothing happens.
I have a doubt, my phone is:
PDA: I9000TUBJG5
PHONE: I9000TUBJG7
CSC: I9000TUUBJG4
Should i try the code referring this "TUB" from my phone??
Thanks!!
No other suggestions bar have a look in this Brazil specific post .

happy days
how can i update to froyo my sgs 2.1 update 1?kies doesn't find any update for the current firmware:i9000xxjpk, the phone is vdf branded and unlocked..
Has your network released an update via Kies is your first question to solve .
jje
I think you should update you sgs to 2.2.1 through Odin
But first of all, make sure you have the 3 combo buttons enabled
when connected to kies it says: this device version cannot be updated,im in Roumania, using an orange SIM, the phone is vodafone branded, then unlocked.
the baseband is i9000XXJPK JM5.
Kies will only update if the phones product code hardware code etc match up with the firmware for that phones product code on the server .
Its the Vodaphone firmware that has not yet been updated by Vodaphone on the server i would guess .
Alternative is to flash an update via Kies but this is at your own risk and may invalidate your warranty and has a small chance of bricking your phone .

You can also have a loo k at the rom kitchin as another choice .

Hey all these firmware codes are so confusing and whatever but can someone tell me what the newest official Optus firmware aswell as the best modem and CSC for reception I can't update via Kies for some unknown reason even though i installed a supposably official optus ROM :S help is appreciated
Update to what through Kies .2.3.3 is only released 15.4.11 and yet to roll out across all areas .
The rom you installed how is it an official optus rom was it branded optus or did you just update to a stock Samsung rom via Odin .
Kies only produces an update for branded network provided phones if it finds the correct product codes not from stock rom .
jje
I've heard that Voda is providing 2.3 update for SGS.
Which version (product code) should i be on (or spoof) in order
to get Gingerbread on my phone ?
Originally bought on ebay factory sealed, T-Mobile branded,
(Designated for use in UK), then registry spoofed and flashed
to Froyo. Dont have original rom nor info (versions and prod#).
Bought and use it in UK.
Phone as it stands now is
I9000HKDKOR
PDA XXJPY
Phone XAJPY
CSC XXJPY
P.S. The phone currently is on Vodafone network.
if you have an unlocked phone, with just a vodafone sim you wont get the update from them, The phone has to have vodafone branded firmware in order for kies to update it.
why would you want to keep vodafone firmware ? its full of bloatware,
head over to www.samfirmware.com and register for free, download Gingerbread and follow instructions.
the whole process will take less than 30min
