I have a problem with screen calibration. I have successfully installed "not so free super froyo". Initially calibration is a little off at the edges (very bad when typing), when I recalibrate using android stock calibration - it's fine, but only untill I shut down and reboot. Then the same thing - calibration is completely off. These is a very major problem - please advise.
Press menu while in calibration and choose save calibration
It will then be saved forever until reboot
Thanks, it worked perfectly Very simple, but I'm not used to the menu called by a power button, so I did not look for one...

I just reinstalled cyanogen mod 5 (HTC DREAM) because I was having problems. Reinstalling it fixed the problem I had (it wasn't booting for some reason)
The problem I have now is retarded. When I push the end (red) button it doesn't lock the screen. [I've done this: spare parts > end button > set to sleep & settings > apps > dev > stay awake off. ]
Also the home button does not do anything anymore (it still works, as it will unsleep my phone and light it up). It should return me to screen 3.
Also, when I hold the end (red) button it use to suggest airplane mode. Now it just has restart/shutdown. thats not really a big deal though. It not locking the screen at all though is a huge problem. makes the phone unusable (due to pocket dialing )
Please help. thanks!
I tried reinstalling cm5 with dalvik-cache cleared. nothing. those features still dont work. I just installed cm6 (also cleared dalvik) STILL can't lock the screen.
Please help. This problem makes the phone unuseable.
Did you wipe your phone? For me this happened some time ago and the only chance was wiping data. You can try doing a nandroid backup, wipe your data and chech if it works then. Otherwise you can restore your backup

was it the latest version of 5?
I do remember in some of the RC's the menu button would unlock the phone no matter how it was set, that was specifically fixed in the next version, same with the home button. just throwing out ideas

I don't know @ the unlock screen stuff, but the home button action in cm6 can be configured in cmparts, so I'm assuming it can be configured in spare parts in cm5. Sometimes it can also be configured in the launcher's settings. @ the power options only containing restart and shutdown, if I remember correctly, the addition of airplane mode and sound on/off into the power button hold menu was an addition in cm6, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong there.
For the screen not locking, definitely suggest what the other guy said, do a full wipe/factory reset and reflash, and make a nandroid backup beforehand. So either way, even if it doesn't fix it, you can just restore, like the other guy said. Start with that, beyond that I don't know what else it would be.

Check your cm settings for screen time off delay and make sure its set to a reasonable amount.

Did you fix this? I'm using AOSPs version of CM7, and to get this to work I changed the setting in Spare Parts > End Button Behavior > Go To Sleep
Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.
my power button is no longer working. I try a lot of apps: nolock, lock 2.0, power off, lock screen widget, anylock .... but almost is turn off display, can't wake up with volume button.
please help me how to do it ? Thanks.

I don't know what ROM you're running, but MIUI has the option to do what you're asking. It's in the settings menu (I believe under Lockscreen).
oh, ROM CM7 have it also, but I want separate app. Do you know any apps ?
Widget locker. Like 3 bucks in market enable easy wake

Fix Broken Power Button by Destil
I found this..
market.android.com/details?id=cz.destil.fixbrokenpb&hl=en
When I tried to download it said it wasn't compatible with captivate but I found the .apk and it ended up working. I attached the .apk I was using to this post.
Another thought, I took my phone apart and cleaned it. I took everything apart down to the motherboard and I poured a little rubbing alcohol on the actual button and pressed it a bunch of times (no battery in of course) and after it dried out it seemed to help get it working again.
Also, when I started having problems again I installed a different kernel and that seemed to help as well. Who knows.. but it has been working ever since.
The Fix Broken Power Button by Destil .apk is below
Thank you topiratiko, I was about to go crazy worrying about not being unable to turn my screen on. But what will I do if the phone shuts off? How will I turn it on? My power button seems to be unable to work.

You can allways go into download mode and flash a kernel for ex and check reboot so it'll boot up, or even better use a jig by inserting it for just a bit to power on and to avoid download mode.
Hi guys, I am encountering the same problem as the guy mentioned underneath in this post, to which some forum users suggested holding the power + vol down to reboot the phone. However, when I tried to do so, the light of the back and home buttons started flashing instead of the phone rebooting. Would anyone happen to have a solution to the problem I am facing?

I went through the set up screen of Aroma as usual and ticked the options that I have always done but this time the installer is stuck at 0% for well over 2 hours now. The green bar still moves at the bottom but nothing has happened aside from that.
Whats the best way to get out of, what appears to be a frozen installation process? Is it best to just let the phone's battery run down or should I try to force quit the set up process?
Thanks

Keep holding the power button down until the phone reboots, takes a while sometimes. Power and volume down might work also. Holding the phone under a bright light and holding down the power and volume down button is another option.
Once you reboot, just try installing ARHD again...
I don't think hes going to be able to get out of it with the power button, he should use the toolkit to force a reboot. Thats will work 100% of the time.

toolkit? all you need to do is adb reboot
Is it plugged into a charger?
If it is, unplug it.

My phone is Samsung Galaxy Pop (SHV-E220S). I downloaded this app "Advanced Battery Calibrator",then Celibrated following instructions. It forced my phone turn off. I charged it (full battery) then turned it on. My touchscreen doesn't react with any impact, and backlit buttons (left and right Home button) dont either.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you guys can understand and help me fix this problem. Thank you very much.
Two possibilities.
There are two possibilities, as far as I know.
Your battery stats have been seriously messed with.
Go to your recovery (Power off, then power button+ volume up or down, try both, idr, which one it was) and wipe your battery stats. If this was the problem, then you are lucky.
The bad possibility. Your touch firmware is corrupted.
You bettter pray that this did not happen. To test this, try to factory reset your phone and see if it works. Or try to flash a stock ROM via Odin. If it works, damn! you are lucky, you just saved yourself from a lot of work. If it doesn't follow this tutorial:

Hope this helps, good luck.
