can anyone help me get a custom lockscreen working? I'm using widgetlocker, and I want unlock on the left and a program shortcut on the right... these two things are on the same bar. whenever I try to select a specific app or program, widgetlocker seems to crash then restart. I've seen others on these forums have accomplished this, but no one has explained how. any ideas?

Hey guys, I just got done flashing the third update on Flipz's page that fixes the Vanilla lockscreen problem and deletes the stock world clock/installs the Vanilla Android clock. I'm running the latest version of DamageControl, and prior the flash I had installed JsChiSurf's Rotary-Style lockscreen without time and carrier that's downloadable OTA from DCUpdate (I went in through adb and also removed the HTC lockscreen prior this so that things would be transparent). I didn't care to lose the Rotary-Style lockscreen because I needed the alarm clock fix.
The new locksreen works like a charm, but I have been unable to find a Vanilla clock app in my app drawer (and of course, my stock clock app is gone). The time displays fine on my taskbar and my lockscreen--just no app to be found anywhere. I did a nandroid backup, so I could in theory just go back to what I had, but I really needed the alarm clock fix and don't want to do that.
I hope I'm not just missing something obvious. Any help is appreciated. I've been a lurker here for a couple of weeks and have benefited greatly from all the info...I searched and searched to see if anyone else had this problem, but couldn't find anything (even searched the replies to the issue on Flipz's page).
Thanks in advance...

Anybody...?
I applied the one that didnt delete the original clock app, but i still want the fix. I want to be able to use my alarms without having to run desk clock every night or have to restart whenever the alarm goes off.
Alright, I'll answer my own question since I figured it out by accident.
Long story short, re-flashed my ROM yesterday, opened my apps drawer this morning, and there was the new clock app.
Don't know why. Just posting in case someone else has this issue in the future. Won't guarantee it'll fix anyone else's problem, and quite frankly I don't really know why it fixed mine. Didn't wipe, nothing. Just re-flashed.
If someone could explain, that's cool, if not, that's cool too--my phone works like I wanted it to now.
Hi guys!
I've been searching around for a simple solution to OC/neat-freak people such as myself...
What has been bothering me for the longest time is the fact that some apps that don't really do anything still add an icon to the app drawer even if it is never needed.
Ex. Document Scanner's Add-On (It is literally just a second icon leading to the same program)
There are also some apps that are needed for other people but I, myself, really do not need to see or access them.
Ex. SuperUser, BusyBox
And there are others that come right out of the box courtesy of Google but I can't uninstall because it will mess things up.
Ex. Google Talk
I eventually found a solution to this using LauncherPro and other launcher alternatives since they all have the feature of hiding whatever application icon you choose...but the thing is:
I don't really like the look of it. I want to stick to the default look of my Samsung Galaxy S (Yes, I like TouchWiz!) It looks a lot nicer, IMHO. And it feels so much smoother also. I also like to organize my app drawer the way I want which is easy to do with TouchWiz.
I know Android ideally uses the homescreens for all the apps you need or use the most and everything else gets hidden in the app drawer..but I like keeping my homescreens tidy with widgets and very few shortcuts only.
So I was wondering...if LauncherPro can implement the feature of app hiding (which really just shows a list of all your apps and let's you check whatever apps you want hidden) then isn't there a mod or a simple app out there or that can be made that simply does this? I don't mind paying a bit.
* After a bit of digging, I came across an old thread on this forum by Irrenhaus about his Advanced Launcher. He apparently customized the launcher that came with Cyanogen (I only skimmed his post, sorry!) where he implemented a lot of great features like folders in the app drawer, app icon hiding and the like. I am very much interested in these features...but again I really don't want to change the look of my Samsung Galaxy S.
* I saw a lot of people posting the TouchWiz Launcher apk for use with other phones... is it possible then to just modify the twlauncher.apk file and implement these other features just like Irrenhaus did? If so, can someone go about doing this for me? I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount. I really do not know how to do this on my own...
* I saw some random dead-end posts in other forums that state that by deleting a line in an app's code or something you can allow the app to install without placing a shortcut. I'm not sure if it works though since there were no replies after that...
Here is the line of code in the manifest file to remove:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
Is this possible with downloaded apps? Seems illegal to tamper with other people's codes... Or is that just a solution for people who make their own apps... I am only familiar with Java so I don't know how to go about these code modifications in Android.
I'm sorry for the lengthy-looking post! I hope I can get some answers or suggestions soon enough.
Thank you all in advance!
SOLVED!!!
Nvm! Found an app for this!
The app is called "Smart Bar" the dev says it currently doesn't work well for Froyo but I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S running JPM ("official" froyo) right now and the hide app feature works just fine.
Best of all, it's completely free! It also has a ton of interesting/useful features. I have yet to play around with the other features so I can't confirm they all work in JPM.
At first I was afraid that the app would literally just "disable" but not delete the app via the renaming the apk method since when one clicks to hide an app it says "Disabling ____" ...so I thought oh great it hides the app icon and stops it from working too... But I tried it out with the Document Scanner Add-On and it still works fine from the main app.
Hope this information helps people out! Should be very useful for people who want to hide those add-ons and packs that for some reason have their own icons upon installing but just need the main app.
Nice

Have anyone got the solution as i am also looking for a app to hide only icon.I do not want to disable app.I just want to hide some apps.
i also would like to know the answer to this, the method you have added is okay but unfortunately theres no solution to starting the process eg. i have added an option to open superSU, STK etc in settings, that option will not work with it hidden...
First of all let me start by saying yes I know this is in the wrong place. I cannot post in the development forum though because I do not have 10 posts.
I don't know about anyone else but can you put shortcuts on the homescreen? Whenever I long press on the homescreen and press shortcuts the homescreen force closes. Is there any workaround for this?
Edit I also cannot get into the settings.
I know right. It sucks how we cant post in any of the developmental forums .
what launcher are you using?
Nevermind I rebooted my phone and everything is good now. Phone seems much faster. Just looking for a replacement for the calendar now. I like the calendar it came with. Is it possible to restore that?
i would check one of the deodexed system dumps for the service and app apks
as a side note, jorte is awesome imo
I have looked around the Droid 3 forums but cannot find it, perhaps my search skills just suck right now.
How do you remove the default Motorola lock screen? I use widget locker and every now and then I have to unlock the phone twice. It's pretty annoying. Anyone know how to do this?
I have rooted and ran the script to remove bloatware, as provided by mr. psousa. I need to donate!
And I know it says you're supposed to post Questions in the Q&A section... but I don't see one for the Droid3! Just 4 sections... general, accessories, development, and themes/apps.

There should be an option in WidgetLocker to disable the lock screen.
Thanks, I'll poke around in there more. I thought I saw that option awhile back (before I was rooted) but didn't know if I should look for something that wasn't there.
Edit:
Only saw the "replace lockscreen with Widget Locker when possible." In the past before I rooted it would sometimes make me swipe both screens but so far since rooting it hasn't asked me to do the default screen... let's hope it stays like this!

You can flash a different ROM. CM7 or CM9 (pre-alpha), or Liberty all have customizable lock screens. I had the same issue as you before I flashed to Liberty 2.0
There are root options in Widgetlocker, 'replace lockscreen with root access', or something like that. Not sure where the option is, don't have it installed.

That's the best way. I think its under advanced settings. I never had to double unlock
