[Q] theming an app, should be a simple answer - Android Themes

Some friends and I use kakao talk to keep in touch and talk garbage about black ops. I've been trying my hand at seemingly simple modifications as far as images on the framework so I thought I would give changing the god awful blue chat background a spin.
I moved the app to system and used ninja morph to start a project and located the chat background image and swap it with another image. I finished up the project and rebooted but nothing changed. Still the same blue. The image changes in the project file and in the reinstalled file, but is still the normal one in the chat. I also tried changing the color using ninja morph's editor but same results.
Any ideas on how to make this take?

Anyone, or am I out of luck?

try using apk manager. i've been getting into theming apps myself and sometimes if the signature is removed the changes won't take or the app can diappear from the app drawer. it's a pretty simple program.

[Q] What's the best method for customizing the lock screen?

I tried widget locker and liked the way it looked, but you have to manually start the app every time you turn the phone on. I don't really care about all of the slide mods, but I would like to change the clock, font, etc. Is there a setting in Cyanogen that I'm missing? Any other app suggestions?
Has anyone ever tried this method for changing the clock font?
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/e1q7j/i_got_rid_of_that_stupid_lockscreen_clock_font/
Basically requires using Terminal to paste a new font over the existing font. I've never used Terminal and I don't have any experience in Linux. The program that someone mentions there (Type Fresh) has lots of bad comments on Appbrain about causing crashes and bootloops, so I think I'll stay away from that one.
are you looking to modify your system lockscreen or trying to find a replacement app (widgetlocker)?
for your widget locker problem, select start at boot and disable the 5 sec. rule.

If you don't want to use terminal, I'm pretty sure you can use ninjamorph which might be a little easier. As for widgetlocker, I'd say just do what kevina said. I've been using for the past week or so and it's been smooth and quick for me.
You could use tasker to autostart widget locker.

Ninjamorph doesn't work for this, nor did root explorer. I tried type fresh multiple times and it didn't work. After trying everything except using the terminal, I just changed the fonts in the rom's zip and reflashed it.
Thanks for the tips guys.. I reinstalled Widget Locker and I'm playing around with it again. I don't like how it takes over the Home button, but other than that it seems to be working pretty well.
Newest cm6.1 rc2 nightly has gestures and added support for phone and sms sliders on the lock screen. I can quickly access facebook, camera, sms, and phone without first unlocking the phone - I love it!
Which nightly are you on and does it seem pretty stable? I do have that same functionality you are talking about with Widget Locker... but if I can have it through the OS, I'll just use that.
I just got Widget Locker the other day. I love it!

Also make sure widgetlocker is installed on your phone and not the sd.

Ninja Morph Problems

I recently flashed a gingerbread theme, and I love the black status bar, except how the notify icons look on it, since they were made for a white bar. So I'm trying to use Ninja Morph to change the icons, which seems like a simple procedure, but it's being very frustrating. I had the TweetDeck icon changed and working correctly, and then a half hour later it started FCing on me. Don't even get me started on the Google Voice app, that seems to work at complete random with no rhyme or reason.
This is frustrating. What's the trick here?
You know I was having the same problem I updated some of my Icons and i followed the instructions and made sure all my images were the same size name right ones and png's and everything then as soon as it rebooted it only gave me FC for every app but two and that was the dialer and the browser and the dialer only worked for incoming calls, the only solution was to sbf. No fun I cant figure out what i did, so no im thinking maybe i have a corrupted file and i need to go in and one by one change them out to figure out what was the cause if any. (oh did i mention this happened three time, what a pain in the a--) Well My advice would be to look at the specifics of what you are doing then maybe start over or try something different, but other than that IDK.

I could test for you. What apps and what icons? Maybe you could post them and I will do it and see what you're doing wrong (if anything). You know market apps have to be signed. Stericson has an app for that too called Signapktic. Works on the phone but in order to use it you have to tell Ninjamorph "NO" after it creates the package then you have an APK of your project in the AndroidThemes/workspace directory. Once signed you can zipalign in terminal and install. Let me know if you need a walkthrough for this method and I will write one up for you.
I'm having problems with ninjamorph too with it just hanging and never finishing. I have some sweet ideas too

I could use a write up of how to do it via terminal if you could do this it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to switch a green for blue android in the Advanced task killer app and am having trouble
If you morph any thing different than a system app you have to re sign the app. Use Signaptic its free on the market. Also when you use signaptic choose the platform iption.

[Q] Getting preview to show in theme chooser

I'm having trouble with my theme. I've searched over and over.
If I remove the \ in the manifest, the theme wont run, and i get an error message about not being compiled correctly, but the preview shows.
If I leave it, the theme works fine, but no preview image.

[Q] A weird question about auto starting an app

So my friend has and idea. He decided he wants to make a tablet boot and launch Skype instantly without showing statusbar or anything. Is that even possible?
Check manifest of any launcher.it contains special category intents which helps android to recognise app as launcher.you have to add those lines in your app also.so basically i am telling you to convert your app as launcher.maybe thats not a good idea.
Second option is to make a boot reciever service in app which automatically starts it.that is only possible if you have great smaling experience and api knowledge or the app is open source..
I Hope it guided you somewhat. For better answer go to xda app development forums and ask there.
Regarding statusbar ,any app (possibly on 4+ android though not sure)can hide status until it is running.even there is a theme defined in framework for it like
Theme.Holo.light.noactionbar.fullscreen

I'm running a rooted Moto X with Krypton ROM 1.4.1 and his latest kernel (0006 I think) I like to run this bad boy all blacked out and I have done so with everything but the contacts app. I have the TBO apps and xposed rocking.. But I can't get any contacts app to invert. I flash and the app shows in the priv app file but not in the drawer. Wont show up anywhere but in priv app folder. I try to use my dialer to access it out days no program available to access that info. I've flashed about 5 different versions and pushed the same amount. I've wiped so much it hurts and I've fixed permissions a ton....... Can anyone help me? It's driving me batty not having a blacked out contacts.

Eclipse comes with a inverted contacts.
Eclipse one didn't work.... But I flashed the Ultima ROM one and it worked. It's got gradient and isn't pure black but it's a lot better than white.
