the gmail pic comes up as an "icon" in the contact page, but when i get a call i get the FB pic. even when i disable facebook contacts i get the fb pic popping up on a call. i'll keep playin with it

Looks like you have to unlink the contact in order to use Gmail pic instead of fb

Wrong contact number

Hi, yesterday I added a new contact into my Nexus. When I went to text the contact later on, the message failed to send. I noticed that I had entered the contact number incorrectly (had an extra 0 at the front) and corrected my mistake. The thing is now, whenever I receive a message from that contact, and reply, it tries to reply to the incorrect number I originally entered, even though there is no reference to it. I have to keep deleting the thread on Handcent, and starting a new one, but it still always messes up when I have to reply to a text.
Anyone know why this is? I tried to delete the contact from the phone, and I get this message: "This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted"
If it's of any help I have nexus one with cyanogenmod 6.0 installed and use handcent and have whatsapp installed as well (not sure if ths makes any difference)
Bump, incase anyone missed it.
Have looked at the contact info via your web Gmail?
When you go to edit your contact, keep scrolling down. Android as an annoying way a merging multiple contacts if they have the same name...

Did that too, as well as contact storage and contacts. It has to be being cached somewhere, but I don't know where.

Contact names not showing up in messaging app.

Whenever I get a message from someone, all I get is their number. I realized it was only happening with my facebook synced contacts. I believe its because the facebook contact number has dashes (555-555-5555) and when I receive a text, it doesn't (5555555555). Is there a quick way to fix this? Or do I have to add every number and join it to that persons contact?

What message app are you using?

Sorry that I couldn't get back until now, but I'm using go SMS. But it does it in any messaging app. I tried checking the stock SMS app, and the same thing happened.

It is due to the way the numbers are saved. You will have to link them and make sure they are set up the same way as the ones that work.
If you're using google sync too you might want to go to your contacts and edit your google contact details cuz I think the contact list uses google details over facebook ones

SMS replacement!

I hate the gingerbread sms app. It is really lame on my opinion, i want a new app for sms. I tried Go sms but won't show my contacts only the ones saved on my google account but not the facebook ones, chomp sms does too and i hate that they have no themes! The only one that works okay is handcent sms but it is really slow!! it takes about 30 sec for the app to open! anyone knows a nice app for sms?
Check your settings on Go, works fine for almost everyone else.

U can also get "go contacts" since u have go SMS..
They work well together
V's CDMA Hero
Mine syncs fine. I go to accounts and sync in the settings, ensure that Facebook is set to sync existing contacts, and my system is exactly how you describe you want yours. I do not use Go Contacts.

I'm using youlu address book. It's a dialer, sms, contact, etc all in one app. It's clean, simple, and way faster than Go or Handcent IMO.
I had youlu address book on my Droid Charge and it was the best thing since sliced bread.

I had this issue because I transferred my contact pictures over from Google, and my last phone had lower res pictures. I solved it by taking new hi res pictures for my contacts.
Try this app.

I want it to only go off once, then stay silent for each additional email I get. This is the first phone I've had do this, my N5 only notifies me once, and each email after that if I don't check them doesn't play the notification sound.
I figured you meant something more complex than no notifications at all. I don't understand why you want to be notified of only one Gmail per day...... What's the point of being notified at all if it's only for one email? Is it a email from a certain sender that usually comes before the rest? I'm just curious.

Not per day, if i get an email and don't check it, every time an email comes in after that it plays the notification sound every time. Like I get multiple emails in a row from XDA subscriptions, I don't want it to play the sound every time. Gmail has the option to notify once or for every email, I have it set as only once, but that doesn't work. That kind of explain it better?
It will notify once for that original email if you get another email from another person or a second post was made on Xda it will send another email and you will be notified again but for that email not the original one you got that you still didn't check. That is simply how it works

That's not how it worked on multiple Motorola phones before this one, my GNex, or my N5. Only this phone. I've been using Android for over 2 years since Gingerbread all the way to Kit Kat and never had this happen on any other phone. I'm just trying to figure out what it is about this phone that is causing it.

I got it now. What's weird is you quoted me and I got a new email because of that but did not get a notification..... Which is what you want. It appears to be working the way you want for me but not for you. Have no idea why that would be. My guess is it's something with your account and not the phone itself.

Haha, at least you know what I mean. I dunno, only thing I can think of to do is try another stock rom like Eclipse and see what it does.
