After much google searching, and searching here on XDA, I'm at a loss. I have the Allshare.apk and .odex, however I have had no luck installing them. I've tried various suggesions, including pushing them from adb shell, and nothing seems to work.
I would love to continue using custom roms, but not having Allshare is a big reason for me to just use rooted stock. The rom I'm trying to install it on is Cognition Beta (Froyo).
Titanium Backup also doesn't work for this. It tells me that it backed up Allshare, but when I try to install it, the restore button doesn't even show up.
Also, a quick question for Rom Manager. With the rom backup feature, can you only restore a backup for the rom you are using? (i.e if you want to restore a backup for another rom, you have to flash the rom first, then restore?)
Although posted in the wrong forum... I'd also like an answer to this. Running CDE and would really like to have AllShare to stream movies off my media server.

Not sure why this would be the wrong forum. I'm using a Captivate, and trying to install Allshare on a Captivate rom.
use root explorer and add them to System/app and paste both files there.
reboot your device, and voila

Still at square one. Altho the .apk and .odex are now in system/apps, it didn't affect anything. Also, looked up root explorer, and how to use it, then downloaded it. It won't remount my main file system as read only...so it's permanently in r/w now.
Also tried flashing to killer23d's rom, to use titanium backup on the allshare he has in his rom, still wouldn't work.
So....clueless at this point.

At one point, I had this same problem, and the only solution there is, is to reflash the rom. It's a PITA, I know. And don't worry about what your filesystem is mounted as in Root Explorer. After every reboot it reverts to read only again.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be my case. Even after reflashing Cognition, my file system is still R/W. Didn't even have to hit the white button on root explorer to paste files into system/app.
Also, adding dlna.apk and dlna.odex into system/app still isn't giving me Allshare.
Edit: Well, I've found a better solution. I'm gonna go with Killer23d's rom...looks alot more like stock Froyo, is based on the I9000, has Allshare, AND Mobile AP. Both features that I wanted.
Thanks for trying guys. If anyone does come up with a solution tho, please feel free to use this thread, as searching for allshare.apk on google results in this thread being either the 2nd or 3rd search result (can't remember).
Works for me.
I just put AllShare back in, using the attached file, and it's working fine.
I'm running Cognition 2.2 Beta 9.1.3 and put the file into "system\app" using Root Explorer.
I also changed the permissions of the file and selected just the following:
USER = READ + WRITE
GROUP = READ
OTHERS = READ
Remove any other checked permissions.
In case you don't know how to get into the permissions, just long-press the file, from within Root Explorer, and choose "Permissions" from the list that pops up.
Don't forget to reboot right after.
Your issue is most likely because you are trying to reintegrate an odex'ed AllShare while you are using a de-odex'ed ROM. Ozone777's file looks to be about the correct size for a de-odex'ed AllShare. Just move it into the /system/app folder with root explorer as mentioned above and you should be good to go.
I used terminal to drop the APK attached in the previous post into /system/app and it works beautifully. CogYo 2.2.9

I am getting this error message. What gives? (BTW, that's on my Bell Galaxy S I9000M with seeAMRS JL2 ROM)

So I am using a rom right now that I'm really happy with, except for one thing- I don't like seeing SMS and MMS in my call log. Is there anyway to replace the logsprovider.apk file with one that will exclude these message from the log? Thanks!
Wrong section, what rom are you running
sorry. I am actually running the 2.2 leak (JI6) that you can flash from ODIN, but I flashed Hardcore's Speedmod kernel 34A and JL3 modem and removed all the bloat. It's just branded enough (I like the GalaxyS boot animations), but it's still fast and smooth and good on battery. I just hate seeing a billion text messages in my call log!

Ok, so I put the .apk in the system/app folder and rebooted. The logsprovider.odex still shows a much older date and messages are still showing up in my call log. Do I have to do something with the odex?
bump...having the same issue
Mine actually says "application not installed" when I go to install it after moving it to system/app
Pretty sure adam uploaded a deodexed version. You need the apk and odex files in order for it to work on a stock rom. I am not sure which rom the logs provider is from but assuming adam has grabbed the firmware from samsung as a starting point for a rom he would have what you need and know which.

...and it needs to be deodexed to edit it.
Besides, there's no benefit to an odexed ROM.
I'm using the Captivate with the leaked Froyo 2.2 update (I897UCJI6). In root explorer, I do have the modified LogsProvider.apk as well as LogsProvider.odex (which has not been modified or changed, etc). What do I do from here?
bump please
Drop log provider apk, in system/app
It's already there. The problem is that when I try to install it, it doesn't work. It says "Application not installed."

Do not install. Reboot. Have someone send to a text, should be fixed
I did that, too. I cleared out all of the old text messages from the log, rebooted, and they're still being listed. Someone just sent me a text about 10 minutes ago actually and it's there in the Log.
WTF???? I successfully deodexed my ROM but I still can't get the LogProvider.apk to install. It still says "Application not installed."

I think you have to copy it directly in /system/app/ with rootexplorer (after mounting system R/W)

Try to download it from Romkitchen as an update.zip then flash it with CWM!
quick question Gerusz,
when i goto romkitchen, click on galaxy s, then on generate, then on the apps tab, then select only flash and go, it tells me that if i dont select a launcher my phone wil be unusable. How to i create an update.zip that ISN"T trying to replace my entire ROM?
thanks in advance!
Hey I have the same problem, using darky rom and i couldnt find this app anymore. Any solution yet? been searching for quite some time
I know this is an old thread, but just thought that you guys on darky ROM should know that all of these apps are available and installed on your phone on your SD card. They will be in a folder for darkyROM and they will be saved in system/apps within that folder. You use and always should use the darkyROM tool available from the market and it will add or remove any system app you want and it backs them up (so if you remove something you shouldn't you can re-install again) and also it does the same for user apps too. It has now been suceeded by the darkyOTA application though which provides Over The Air updates for ROM related stuff. All support and info is located on the darkyROM forums to check out
Explanation of what OpenPDroid is and does: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34190204
If you want to mod your favorite rom with OpenPDroid but you have no idea how to compile from source, follow these steps:
Download Auto-Patcher-ApG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31648393&postcount=690
Place it in a folder at the root of your harddrive, example C:\AutoPatcher\
Run it once and allow it to update.
Download your favorite rom, example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008894
Open ApG and choose your downloaded rom.
Select OpenPDroid and AOSP (for this example rom).
Press Start.
Once the program is done, you'll have two new zips. One will install OpenPDroid while the other removes it and restores the original rom files.
If you already have the rom installed, simply use the OpenPDroid installer zip. Otherwise, install the rom and then the OpenPDroid installer zip.
Once you have booted up in your modded rom, install PDroid Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.digitalfeed.pdroidalternative
Use the app to set the permissions for your apps.
To remove OpenPDroid, simply use the restore zip and uninstall PDroid Manager.
From start to finish, it should only take 5-10 mins. ApG does not work on all roms, but it should work on most (AOKP, AOSP, CM, and PA).
Please post the roms you try and what the results are. Thanks.
I'm currently using LBESM. Will give PDroid/OpenPDroid/PDroid Manager a try. I'm guessing I need to repatch each time I flash a new build of my ROM due to updated system framework and stuffs? Also, repatching should not reset the permissions of apps that I have set?
Yes, when you install a new rom, you'll need to make a new patch using Auto-Patcher. The permissions are set and saved by the PDroid Manager app. So they will be saved even if you change roms. The app has a function where you can export the permissions to the SD card if you need to fully wipe. You can also use TitaniumBackup or the like to preserve the permissions.
PDroid Manager keeps saying it cannot find/communicate to PDroid or OpenPDroid after I have patched and flashed the patched OpenPDroid installer zip. I'll keep trying if I can figure out what's wrong. By the way, I'm running AOKP ROM (4.2.2) on the SGS3.. Sorry wrong forum, but thought this would work on AOKP ROM.
Did you make sure to flash the correct zip? The first time I tried this, I accidentally flashed the "restore" zip and ran into the same issue. And remember, Auto-Patcher doesn't change the rom zip. It creates two new zips. Did you get any errors while patching the rom? Did you select AOKP in the Auto-Patcher settings?
Yeah I flashed the installer zip instead of the recover zip. Problem was I ran autopatcher in cygwin on Win7. I ran it using APG and that worked. Now setting up permissions for all apps.. That's gonna take a while .

Important
Do not run ApG under Windows directories such as C:\, C:\Windows, C:\Program FIles\* and so on.
Some even reported errors while running ApG from their desktop.
In case you're having any download errors (ApG or its packages) please verify your antivirus is disabled and you're not running from the above folders.
If ApG still fails to download packages or sync with GitHub, try running it as an admin.

That is why I suggested running the program from C:\AutoPatcher\. See if that fixes your problem.

I think he means don't run the program from the root of C:\, as in C:\ApG.2.6.0.2.exe. If you place the exe in a secondary directory that is not a windows directory, you should be fine. Try C:\AutoPatcher\ApG.2.6.0.2.exe
It Works! Thank you so much mate Now im happy but Facebook not :good:

Hi,
I found a topic which helped people to get their original stock rom swype back in their custom rom.
I tried the same but it didn't work for me. One part of the process is checking in build.prop that the ro.product.brand is the same in the original stock rom and in the custom rom. Which is so for my custom rom and the stock rom i've downloaded.
However, I saw that the build.prop from the stock rom uses GT-S5830 as type for the other lines like:
ro.product.model=GT-S5830
ro.product.name=GT-S5830
ro.product.device=GT-S5830
ro.product.board=GT-S5830
and that my custom rom has cooper there instead of GT-S5830. I added the lines above to my build.prop, hoping that this would solve the issue.
Unfortenately, it doesn't. When I select swype, there's no language available. I've checked in the apk file and alle the language files are there so it seems that swype blocks usage of it.
When I select swype, I get this message:
"the swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality."
I'm using cm 7.2. the ultimate and extracted swype from this sammobile stock rom:
S5830XWKTQ_S5830VITKT2_S5830XWKT8_HOME
Can someone tell me/help me with isolating the problem? Why does swype still not recognise my device as GT-S5830?

installing from google play (or even amazon app store) would be an option when they would add PayPal support to pay for the app.
As long as I need to have a credit card, I cannot buy anything from Google Play or Amazon App store.
Therefore, I am hoping there is a solution for the difference in the build.prop file...
perhaps to include it in the zip file from the custom rom, but Im affraid the problem persists as the build.prop is still different.
I still hope the builde of this rom can send me his stock swype and libswypecore.so files...
Or is there another solution for this? (adjusting build.prop and inserting the lines with GT-S5830 was not one)
