Alright guys, I screwed up somewhere. was following the newbie guide. but i think irooted before downloading the recovery app now phone is lagging, force closing shutting off . screwed basicly. can it be saved?
try downloading rom manager...and try to flash clockwork recovery(it's the first on top)...do you have any SU...i'm not sure what the newbie way of root is and do you have nand back up...well try flashing the CW recovery in rom manager and see if you can make a nand back up(in rom manager is Back up current rom, or reboot in recovery and from nand - > back up)from there ->try flashing a rom( i recomend AOSP 0.9.8)
when you download it read the instructions on how to flash(it's not hard just dont forget to wipe everything)
good luck to you...hope i helped....
I ran into the same thing after using z4root on my phone. All I had to do was restart the phone and it started working fine and kept the superuser access since I used the Permanent root option.

I have nexus one. This is my story. I had rooted my phone using universial android. I installed cyanogen mod and was a very happy user until I saw the MIUI Rom and then I flashed that. Then I saw that it was to unstable so I restored to a backup I made of cyanogen. After I started using cyanogen mod again it was very unstable and had random reboots and lots of force closes. So I just decided I was done with the rooting business so I was gonna use a passimg. Acsently I flashed the Korean passimg and I can't flash any of the other ones(except the frg33one because i cant update to frg83 after and lose root) So on the Korean Rom I rooted and installed clockworkmod. Then I noticed I couldn't install any custom rom(i tried CM6, CM6RC3,MIUI)and I kept getting errors. So while I was in clockwordmod restored one of my old stockrom backups before i had flashed any roms and it worked. But still when went to go and try and flash a rom it still gave me errors. But the most ANNNOYING thing of all is i would flash clockwordmod in rommanager than i would touch reboot to recovery. It worked. I got into clockwordmod but then when i would try and go back again a second time it wouldn't be there. It would be the stock android recovery and even when i would go to recovery though the bootloader it would still be stock recovery. I dont know what to do. As i said my bootloader isnt unlocked because i dont want to void my warrenty. my inital plan was if i ever needed to return this ting i could just i could just run a passimg and restore to to stock everything and there would be no traces. If i have to return my phone it would have to be last resort because I live in Canada and I would have to play ridiculous duties and taxes on it. Now i just want to make sure im able to install gingerbread on when it comes out. Also i forgot to mention that everytime i try to update my phone to 2.2.1 it always fails even though im on stock recovery(although even when i go into recovery and it is the stock recovery rommanager still says im running clockwordmod) PLEASE HELP!!!
ps. Im only 13 but i consider myself to be pretty techsmart for 13. I wouldnt mind using cmd/terminal and im running ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop.

If you installed the original passimg then you'll have 2 files you'll want to remove if you don't want the stock recovery to keep flashing back when you reboot
Remount /system rw and remove:
rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p
Remove those, flash your custom recovery and you should be good to go.
With respect to the errors: Clear out the cache and dalvik-cache. Wipe and install your rom of choice, be it a stock repack, CM6, Enom etc.
With Amon's latest recovery *1.8.0.1 you can flash both signed (google) and signed (test) packages, so the official update will flash as well as a repack. If you flash the official 2.2.1 remember to pull remove those 2 files again or it will blow away your custom recovery on reboot.

After rooting, did the SuperUser App appear in the app drawer?, if so, the phone was rooted and the steps you took appear fine to flash the ROM. Don't know what you mean by it didn't work (error msgs or what?) Also, don't know what or how you're trying to download something. Perhaps if you can provide more information, we can help
I'd suggest reading this post here.
Also I would have him Odin 1-click back to stock and start over.
Plus in the future please post what the error was as it would help determine your next troubleshooting steps better.
Yes superuser did appear in the app drawer.
When we tryed to flash it said operation aborted i dont know why.
And he is trying to download apps. from the market and its not working lol
Yup.. I'd flash back to stock then re-root. Sounds like something went screwy when you attempted to flash the ROM.
We restored the back up before attempting to flash the rom so would that be okay instead of flashing back to stock?
Also is there a way to back up all the apps so if do flash back to stock we can get them back instead of re downloading everything again?

Download Titanium Back-up from the market (if you can)
My question is this: is there a way to verify that the file system and the overall ROM is operating healthy and without any corruptions/problems?
This is why I ask.
So, to make a long and frustrating story short I am/was running the Ginger Clone 2.2 Final R5 ROM and after disabling the lagfix, I installed the SpeedMod Captivate Kernal.
The installation of the kernal seemed to go just fine, after the initial startup I deleted the "disable-lagfix" folder/file and rebooted the device. However, when the phone restarted it froze on the "Galaxy S I9000" screen and would not boot into recovery mode.
After much profanity and futile ADB "reboot recovery" commands, I flashed the phone back to stock with Odin. When the phone loaded again I rooted and installed ROM manager, then I proceeded to restore the ROM backup that I made prior to flashing the new kernal. The backup loaded successfully, but when I started the phone again, it went into boot-loop at the AT&T screen.
Now at this point I'm really pissed off . I went back into recovery and cleared the partition cache and reinstalled the Ginger Clone Rom, fresh. Thankfully I heard the lady cyborg voice stating that the lagfix was being applied, success . The phone started up just fine, and I was able to reinstate the backup rom that I had created earlier.
So now, I'm left wondering if my file system is operating how it should be, sans kernal flash.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Again... I hate to be that guy but you are posting in the wrong forum.

Well when you flashed back to stock and then restored your backup it went into a boot loop because the backup does not back up the kernel so the ROM you restored was trying to boot with the stock AT&T kernel...Not going to work. But when you did the fresh install of the ROM it had the kernel so it worked...
try afv or something like that in the market. Its by scary alien and you can verify md5 sum nand backup. i just flashed a new rom but once I get all set up I will come back with the name. Its a free in the market.

No problem Glad to help. Next time if you flash stock after installing ROM manager you can flash the kernel first and then don't boot up just go back into CWM recovery and then restore your backed up ROM and it will work fine.
Hello All,
I rooted for the first time my Note 2 weeks ago, just with the Basic CMW and proper root to my kernel. It worked fine, but I wanted more, so I decided to try RR by Eybee.
Downloaded the RR v20, passed it to my SD Card.
I wiped the phone through CMW.
Flashed the .zip file.
I'm now stuck on the initial loading screen of Rocket Rom, it just keeps restarting.
I know I ****ed up someway, and would really appreciate someone's help...
Ty
I hope you did a nandroid back up in recovery before you flashed? Because if you didn't you are indeed up creek without a paddle. It is always recommended to do a backup before you flash anything through recovery. If you didnt then go on you're computer download another rom to you're ad card go into recovery and flash it or get the original ruu rom and flash that.

No I have not.. I did full sys+data recovery through Titanium backup. I can't access CMW , to be honest I only did it through the phone itself... I can only access the Download Mode and tried to flash back the ROM I used to root the phone, which was useless.
Am I missing some really obvious way to access CMW without being able to initialize the phone?

Found it:
Going to wipe, resintall root that worked and go from there ty.
Edited:
Reinstalled Rocket Rom through CMW (Up Vol+Power Button+Menu)
Wiped.
Reinstalled.
Working
My phone was bricked yesterday. Then I used SMF to recover, so I turned back to v10a. (from smart flash tool)
Installed Rom manager rooted and installed marvel rom.
Then I tried miui 2.1 rom.
Then i tried to restore my backup(marvel) what i did with rom manager. Phone bricked again.(Blue screen on android)
Then I used SMF to recover again. --> v10a.
Now in rom manager pressin flash cwm button in menu but nothing happens. I rooted phone. Root is workin well in other programs like Titanum. Tried reboot into recovery causes factory reset bcs of cwm i think.
Any way to solve this problem? Or can I install zipaligned rom like marvel, zeus without cwm? Like S/E tool. Power + volumeUp...
Did you do all the wipes before flashing the rom?
Didn't you missed any step?
I cant see even recovery menu. To wipe data/dalvik.
I coulnt flas cwm, so when Im trying to do reboot into recovery via Rom Manager, skips that menu(controlled with volume and power buttons dont know the name) and v10 is booting with factory reset.
Do you have an internet connection when trying to flash cwm?

Just root it again, reboot, install busybox, reboot, install cwm and all should work just fine

Yes I had internet. I installed Rom Manager from market.
I will follow this link. It gives you offical 20o Rom rooted and touch version of cwm. Hope it will work for me.
And I realized that I really missed LG's UI.

You probably forgot "wiping" before restoring your nandroid. Any this shall be a lesson. From now on you won't forget.
had the same problem before, i always had a bug installing CWM, caused factory reset everytime , but when i downloaded it again it works well..

I've never wiped before restoring a nandroid, and believe me I've flashed my OB a lot while i was debuting my Lezo mod.

I solved the problem. Now I have offical 20o ROM offical and rooted. Happy with that. Until stable CM7 or MIUI release I will stop trying ROMS.
