ive gotten it figured out how to change the animations. i'm running kaosfroyo v39 and i have to put it in the /data/local folder. only problem i'm having is with this rom on how to add audio or where i even put it. i've tried putting the bootscreen.zip file in a bootscreen folder under /system/media but doesnt work. i've tried putting it under /data/local but it doesnt work. idk if this rom even supports audio on the bootscreen animation.

Yea I don't know either. I had Kaos39 also and according to the research I did here, bootscreens arent supported on Kaos. Some people were saying that they do run fine on the xtrRoms. You might try investigating that option and see if its something you wanna do. Those xtrRoms arent that bad either. There pretty fast out of the box.

[B]Custom Boot Animations[/B]

Hey everyone.
Thought id make a thread so everyone can show there fav boot animations.
& maybe even shutdown animation ?
Lets see what ya got
Does the boot animation have to be made specifically for the DHD or can it be from any device?
Where would I find one and how would I install it?

im using a custom boot animation that i got from some site (cant remember the site though)
ive attached the boot animation tht im using.... its for apple haters
just google android boot animations u will get many links...thts wat i did
and then just copy ur bootanimation.zip and drop it in /data/local
Hmm, doesn't work for me? I did see someone saying the file might be stored else where?
Also, anyone with some time able to build me a hemorrdroids boot anim?

oh
maybe different roms hve different locations or sumthing
im using leedroids rom
otherwise try putting it in
/system/customize/resource
Yeah, that did the trick. Thanks
I need some help as I don't know what file name or file type or location for the shutdown sound I've created. Does anyone know this? I'm guessing it should go in "/system/customize/resource" as this works for replacing the shutdown animation (which is "downanimation.zip")
Does anyone know this?
I'll be sure to post the boot & shutdown animations plus the sounds in the Themes & Apps section once I'm finished... just need this and I'll be done soon.

[BootAni] Updated BIOS Bootscreen for Desire HD

Hello all,
Attached to this post is an updated version of the BIOS boot animation for your shiny Desire HDs I don't own one myself (just yet at least!), but I was making one for LeeDrOiD's ROMs, and thought it would be good to create a generic one if you are using a different Custom ROM.
This is based off of the original creative/design of frysee! Thanks to him for allowing me to mod this boot animation for the DHD!
I have tested this on my Classic Desire and it seems to work great, so if anyone runs into any issues, please let me know in this thread.
Some things you should note:
bootanimation.zip is within the scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip
android_audio.mp3 is also included, which is start up sounds from an old PC
You should be able to replace the originals, either by replacing them in the .zip before flashing, or using S-OFF (or recovery) to replace them after.
Most common path for these 2 files is /system/customize/resource
Previews below were mangled by the forum upload process, but they're perfectly crisp 480 x 800 PNGs within the .zip
Note that this did take me a good while (editing 92 .PNGs), since I couldn't use the classic Desire BIOS generator to make the specs change to the Desire HD, so any donations are greatly appreciated, especially if you get a kick out of this boot animation!
Oh, and if you want to include this boot animation on your website/ROM/etc., just send me a PM first...thanks!
Hope you enjoy!

Hi goran, I don't have a Desire HD myself, but I believe you should look in /data/local to see if the original .zip file is there. If so, simply replace it (you'll need S-OFF, or do it via Recovery using ADB).
Do NOT try and flash the .zip that you downloaded (scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip) as it contains another .zip file within, namely 'bootanimation.zip' which is the one that you should replace. Neither .zip files are actually flashable, so you'll probably just get an error if you attempt to. With the provided .zip package that I've attached to this post, you should be able to Google and find the answers as to how to replace it if you're still having difficulties.
Thanks for your interest in this too!
It's quite funky. I had a little chuckle when I saw that apparently the HTC Ace has an i440BX motherboard in it though
ah ok...i have custom lee's rom with soff and recovery...but I cannot find anywhere the bootanimation

with estrongs I was able to replace these files.
very nice
Just replaced the files and rebooted my DHD.
Always liked the old fashion boot..
Thanks for your work.
It needs to be pushed to data/local/, works well

Nexus S Boot and Shutdown Animations + ringtones ect (UPDATED)

I pulled the boot animation from the Nexus S dump. I also reversed some of it and made a shutdown animation. On top of that I pulled the ringtones/notifications/alarms and UI sounds. Took it all and zipped it up into a flashable zip. Always backup before flashing anything
The only problem I have found is the shutdown animations doesn't overwrite the entire shutdown folder. So if you have more then 46 .pngs in your existing shutdown folder they only the first 46 will be overwritten. Can someone modify the zip to delete the shutdown folder prior to replacing it. That would fix the problem. Everything else works very well...... I'm newer to zips for if someone can fix the problem this will work great.
EDIT: This has only been tested on Mammon88's new ROM base with custom kernel.....
YOU NEED A KERNEL THAT SUPPORTS CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATIONS.....
You can also use my midNIGHT ROM (This is built in already) located at PPCGEEKS http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-ep...-7-froyo-dk28-nexus-s-goodies-12-16-10-a.html
Had to upload to rapidshare cause the file was to large to upload here.
http://rapidshare.com/files/437742174/Nexus_S_Combo.zip
UPDATE: Here is the Link to the Ringtones Zip
I have also separated everything so those without a Kernel that allows for custom bootanimations aren't left out
Think this will work with both dk28 and di18? Stupid question, I'm sure but I'm a cautious fool =)
will i lose all my other current existing sounds or does this just add to them?

Does this include the animation when you turn your screen off??

I pulled the boot animation the other night and all I got was the four colors coming to together to form an "X" but it keep looping over and over until the phone booted up. Is there more to the animation or is that the gist of it?

Same issue, Andromeda DI18 rom.
bootanimation is only supported as *.qmg format unless you have a kernel that supports bootanimation.zip (boot animations as a zip file)...
Maybe you should list compatible ROMS, the following should be compatible but they still need to be confirmed:
Heroic Epic
Mammon's Bonsai4All
[ACS] SyndicateROM (Shuriken)
[ACS]Xtreme Kernel (Lucy)
[ROM]VIPERrom [TRiNiTY] DK28

Any chance of a zip of just the notification sounds and ringtones?
Can someone post a mirror to this. Rapidsucks is not letting me dowload and keeps giving me that I can't download anymore from my ip unless I upgrade. Seems like a scam if you ask me.

Customizing Cognition 4.1 Failure

I flashed the Congnition 4.1 and everything is working excellent (Thanks DesignGear :-D), but when I tried to flash a custom boot animation from MobileTech.com and a Theme from XDA (can't remember whom it was from), my phone started vibrating only.
Has anyone here seen this same issue and if they were able to corrected, could you give me some pointers?
Thanks,
Brasus

themes have to be built specifically for the framework that you are running. you cannot just go around flashing random themes.
as far as boot animation, most of the time, i dont think those are CWM flashable, you just drop bootanimation.zip into /system/media/ and thats it
You can't flash any theme you want. the theme has to use the framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk files from UCKB1 rom in order to work with Cognition. So, you have to look around and see if a theme says it's compatiable with UCKB1. It's only been a few days, I'm sure you'll see some more ported on the Themes and Applications section soon.
Thanks for the quick reply.
and dont try using darkness 2.5 on 4.1 either. it worked on 4.0 but it will not work on cog 4.1.

[Bootanimation] Sydicate Shutdown in reverse

I wanted to try something small as a just got in to modding a few days ago but unfortunately I still needed some help. Thanks to qbking77 & jkrough0728 for all your assistance in making this noobs day!
Just to give a little back here it is for any of you that would like it. Before you ask no it doesn't include the sound. Install it with the copy/paste method (not flashable)
Edit - Make sure you push it using root explorer, I tried others like file explorer and such and it didn't take.
Syndicatebootup.zip is the flashable version for those that would like that better. Thanks qbking77!
Awesome!!! Trying now
Good work!

Its close to it, but the next thing to add is a blue pulse either under all graphcs and text or just the "s". Just learning how to use after effects to animate and render a .png sequence for me and modifying the desc to make it loop till the phone boots.

I actually edited my srf 1.2 to include this when flashing. So technically this is my stock boot ani. Still working on a blue pulsing background for it in adobe after effects. I will modify the OP when done.
I'm digging it, nice clean boot up and matches the shutdown animation well on srf1.2

I'm not sure why you guys did this, when I've posted the original SyndicateROM animation that matches the shutdown several times... I'm responsible for the S + text, and the loop is thanks to Pseudoremora.
