I got it and it seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for that.
But what do you mean by temporary solution? Is it not gonna work soon?

It's merely a software workaround and it has some impact on your battery life. The only real fix is to exchange your phone for one without the issue. There's no way to guarantee a 'good' phone ahead of time, so it's your decision if you want to deal with the reduced battery life or chance going through multiple exchanges until you get a working phone.

Call AT&T can arrange for a replacement. I've done it, a ton of other people have done it, and it's not a pain in the butt at all.

If you are willing to flash custom roms hours is fixed, not complete fix, but working well
I get lock in under 10 seconds within 10 meters, and tracks well with little bouncing

Welcome back!!! I've found several ROM's that have great GPS. Not 100% but good enough for me.
I get a fairly quick lock on my stock ROM. I got one inside last night, so I certainly can't complain about GPS issues.
My captivate from rogers has never had any gps issues

If u r planning to get the refurb pieces or current versions, Samsung seems to have corrected the GPS issue. Mine is a refurb I got under warranty exchange with batch code 10.07, and has GPS working fine.

I have a 1007 and have never had an issue with the GPS other than needing ot reset it after a ROM install.
Also hear these things are hard as hell to brick.

Hi,
Today something very weird happened.
Around 10:17 my phone called a friend of mine by itself.
I was using the phone, browsing XDA using the XDA Premium App, and nothing else, maybe some background processes was running, but i have only installed programs i know and trust from Android Marketplace.
I'm running MCR Fr12 with the OC / UC kernel.
The call isn't showed in the Call-list, or anywhere else regarding the calls.
The only reason i got to know this, was that the person who got called was sitting in class with me, and told me afterwards.
What may have been the cause to this, and am i the only one experiencing this kind of weird behavior?
have you taken into consideration that your friend might have pulled a small trick on you ? if its not in the call logs, im pretty sure it didnt happen, or you got a serious problem.
I am really sure he didn't.
Checked it myself, but on the other hand, he might.
Don't know actually.
Anybody else experiencing the same issue?
What did the phone say to him?
Hopefully it was something nice or you have to give your phone a good spanking..

Hi,
I'm seriously considering going out and buying this phone but I'm really not sure after seeing all the threads with people saying that they go back to their phone and it's switched off and requires a battery pull.
This seems to be a fairly serious problem but I was just wondering if it is happening to everyone who owns the O2x?
Please let me know if you are unaffected by the problem!

Dont do it go for SGS2
Mine is fine! 1 month of use and never crashed.
My phone has been fine not one reboot or freeze, stayed stock rom for first week then rooted and changed roms several times and still no problems, got mine off ebay brand new, can give u the link to the seller if you like

I've had mine since March and I have not experienced any freezes or reboots.
It really is a great piece of hardware. I'm not that fond of LGs software, but that can be solved with a custom ROM.

So, how do you get on Rusty, you seem like a very experienced XDA member.. how is the O2X treating you?
i am not the best guy to talk to . i just got the phone used yesterday for very cheap. i figured that if i dont like it, i can sell it for the same money or even make a little more and get the SGS2.
but so far. no crashes/reboots.. been more than 24 hours. using custom rom as well.
i got the phone for 300$. the stickers still on it. i figure if i decide to sell it. i wont lose at all..
so far. i am really loving the phone. i love the UI of LG. but its slow. it laggs. i wonder if there is a custom rom with the LG UI but smooth one.
right now i am on modaco. with 3000 quadrant. if i switch to google launcher. phone is smooth. if i switch to LG one, it laggs a little in the home screen. i tried the Tmobile version 2.3 on my optimus. its super smooth. but i cant make phone calls on it lol.
and i had a screen problem with the cayanogen rom. for some reason my screens dims and go bright on its own.
oh yeah. i also have a screen light leak/bleed. but it doesnt bother me much because the only way i can notice it if the room is dark and i have a black wallpaper.
Mine went slow once on stock, once isn't bad though. The froyo Rom does seem rushed in truth, (I have random battery drains from my Dialer which makes no sense) but I'm sure Gingerbread will have everything sorted.

Pretty well to be honest. I use CM7 nighties (I bought the phone specifically because it was going to be supported by them) so I cannot expect a bug free experience at this early stage.
I am enjoying it though, I came from a Nexus One that had bugger all internal storage and a poor digitizer, so proper multi-touch and 1.5GB spare for apps is fantastic.
The IPS screen is great if you can overlook the associated backlight bleed (it's not just the 2X, look at iOS devices as well, same thing), the GPS chip is excellent, I can get locks in place that my N1 couldn't.
The stock ROM is turd, frankly. It's fast, until you install something, then it becomes unusable for a bit until it's finished with the app... quality coding
fine
i have my lg optimus 2x now for over a month, no problems here.
i stil have the stock rom.
first v10a. no problem
later v10b. no problem
I have had 2 O2x now for litle over a month
one of them has had BSOD and restarts randomly - the other had none, atleast for the first month - but these past days this one has now also rebooted a couple of times.
Both are completely stock - not rooted and not using any custom roms.
Only using a different launcher which do help make the BSOD and Reboots less often.

I been over there as well. Most of the problems on the SGS 2 are either software or can be solved with apps. My O2X had so many problems that I could never use the phone and wifi at the same time. Bleeding, constant reboots/freezes crashes even with Custom ROMs. Since Im in afghanistan now I need a phone that will work not just when it feels like it. I will say that when the O2X was working it was a sweet phone. I just dont see the same problems with the SGS2 and Samsung tends to be better in the service side instead of LG leaving us pissing in the wind waiting for a "possible update" that might fix things or not.
guess i´m a lucky guy, too!
i have no crashes/reboots and absolutely NO backlight bleeding
Mine is also working properly.

Hello everyone
I have recently developed this annoying issue with my captivate running 2.2. When I am reading my txt messages, I keep getting a search window pop up, without me hitting the search kit on the phone. It sometimes flashes in and out of the search and it sometimes even brings out the voice search. Each time I have to hit the back key a few times to get back to composing my txt or reading it. I've done a search on the net and I don't seem to be the only person experiencing this issue, but I can't seem to find a solution for it either. It is starting to get more frequent. How can I fix this issue? Do I have a virus?
It could be on the rom your on, if your on one or stock? Or maybe it could be a hardware error
Next time state what rom, kernel, elect your on. So that can help people make more sense off the problem

Hey speedy_11
Thanks for your reply. Forgive me I am a newbie so I will try my best. The phone is an At&t phone that I unlocked and use on the Fido network in Canada. The current firmware version is 2.2, the kernel version is 2.6.32.9 and the build number is FROYO.UCKB1
I don't have any roms just the regular Samsung update. Where do I go from here?
Moisture problems I have the same thing. Throw it in a bag of rice overnight and be glad it is not the back button doing it

Hi
Recently bought the ONE. Sometimes my back button stops responding completely for a while. if i try to press the home button at that time, it works. this happens rarely.
My device is just a few days old so i can easily get it replaced.
I wanted to know if this is a software issue or a hardware issue? If software then i guess it can be easily solved by a ROM flash. Else i should quickly have my device replaced.
Please share your experiences/ views on similar defects.

Have you faced/ seen similar problems? Are you sure that this is not a software problem? My device is so perfect otherwise (no hardware defects) that i am scared to get in to the replacement process and end up with a device with another defect and then replace that again..
I just want to be really sure that this is a hardware problem and it can only be solved by getting it replaced.

If your phone is rooted, then they will not replace it.
So go replace it, safest and best option, you got nothing to lose.
you can always flash a rom after you get a working device.

Thats why i advise you to play safe.
At least in my country, the offer proper replacements.
